Chapter 16: Chapter 16 - Summer Huntings
Raven groaned in pain as he laid on the floor, sweating, bits of blood around on the floor, his blood.
Why was his blood on the floor?
Lorelei.
When she offered training, she meant torture disguised as training. It hurt a lot, but he was learning a lot in return.
One, his fighting style, rather his lack thereof, was fixed. He didn't learn a proper style per say, but he learnt proper form.
How to throw a punch. How to block. How to fight with his claws. Also with a whip, Lorelei's specialty. He didn't like it.
However, besides that, his training in magecraft soared. He refined his use of techniques under her. He learnt some more spells to enable use of Fire magecraft. Darkness was still a hit or miss in techniques, so he was left to create his own spells there.
Another thing was proper control and usage of energy. It was more of learning to use the proper amount of energy, or get smacked on the hand with a whip. It was learnt quickly.
He also started learning politics, he hated it. He saw the point, but he hated it. Doesn't mean he wasn't good at it though, especially since his Mystic Eyes of Truth, awakened.
So far they let him know if someone was lying to him, and see the truth of anything. It worked like Structural Analysis more than anything, but better.
If he could see it, he could perceive the truth of it. It had great potential. To counteract this, he got a pair of mystic eye killers, how Lorelei acquired such an item so quickly, he wasn't sure, nor did he want to know.
When they covered his eyes, he no longer saw the truth. Which was ironic considering they were a pair of glasses.
However one thing he learned under Lorelei was conjuring, or more precisely using magecraft in the form of gradation air, he could create something.
However, to create something, he had to know something. So he hit the books, the more he knew, the better.
Currently he could create a ton of weapons, tools, armor, several types of wood, metals, stones and several more things.
However creating something like that did take up energy. He typically created a pair of metal gauntlets and boots to protect his hands and legs in combat.
"You're ready." Lorelei said as she looked down at Raven who was in a sorry state. Though she did have some scratches on her, and one single cut on the side of her neck, a small cut, but cut nonetheless.
"For what?" Raven asked as he groaned and pushed himself up off the ground he was on. A wave of his hand caused all the fallen blood to vanish.
"Hunting. Tomorrow we shall hunt a dead apostle. Prepare yourself, we leave at eight." She declared and left the training room.
Currently they are at Lorelei mansion. It was hidden inside the Clocktower surprisingly. A huge underground cavern was hollowed out as a training room.
"Ugh, the pain." Raven groaned as he summoned some energy to use healing magecraft, something he never would regret having learnt. Though it was the most annoying thing to learn overall. Learning everything about the human body, male and female, was a massive pain.
"Meow?" Raven smiled as Izzy walked up to him and purred as she rubbed against his leg.
"Yeah I'm fine." He said as he finished healing himself and stood up. A satisfying pop accompanied as he stretched out. Offering a hand out, Izzy took it to jump up and get to his shoulder where she plopped down.

It was five am, and Raven groaned as he woke up, for some reason it had started becoming harder to sleep, but he didn't notice any negatives from it.
He was well rested every day, and he suffered no energy loss. So he shrugged it off, Lorelei declared it as his unknown heritage starting to wake up and become more prominent.
So with a groan he threw the covers off his bed and started getting ready for the day. A shower to clean up, he was determined to find a spell to avoid a shower.
It is not that he hated it, but he preferred his baths over showers.
Soon enough, he was dressed in practicality. Black boots, black combat pants, a long sleeve dark blue shirt, and a black clip on tie. Because fuck doing a tie.
Pleased with that, he made his hair short and kept the white coloring. His eyes are a nice blue color. Then he grabbed his mystic eye killers and headed out.
A nice breakfast by the maids later, and he and Lorelei were on a car ride to the airport. Their destination, Boston Massachusetts.
"Here's everything you need to know." Lorelei said as she passed him a folder once they were on the private plane and in the air.
Name: Jared Payne
Change: 7:34am, Saturday 5th, 2003.
Location: Boston Massachusetts.
Lair: Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.
Jared Payne, ordinary man changed by a passing by dead apostle. One of the few to quickly pass through the change from a ghoul to a dead apostle.
At first, the subject was scared, but soon was overcome with power. Has taken over the convention center and plans to turn Boston's population into his ghouls and thralls.
Further information was just about the man itself, and once he finished Raven smiled. He knew exactly how he would push these guys' buttons to anger him, make him rash.
"Good, you look prepared. When we land, we will immediately head to the center. I expect you to handle everything yourself. I will only intervene if I fear for your life, or they attempt to change you." Lorelei said and Raven nodded, he expected nothing less after all.

Jared Payne felt like he was on top of the world. He had originally been a normal 9-5 man, but now, he was the strongest.
He was a dead apostle, a being on top of the world! No one could stop him. He would turn all of Boston into his thralls, then the world! He would become the world leader, and no one would stop him!
"Yes my thralls, infect everyone, do not a single one of them escape being turned. Let them know the fear of those who are the enemy of Jared Payne." Jared said as he sat on the rafters close to the ceiling and watched his thralls chase those still alive or not turned.
"Sorry about this, but my teacher is waiting, and I was promised expensively good greasy pizza for completing this." A voice declared, before suddenly several swords pierced through the glass of the ceiling. The moonlight shone brightly through the glass-less ceiling.
"Who dares!?" Jared demanded as he looked up and saw a… teenager.
"I do. So tell me Jerry, do you fear death?" The teen asked with a smile as they took off their glasses and tossed them up through the hole they made somehow.
"I fear nothing! My name is Jared you douchebag!" He yelled out angrily as he pushed up against the ground with his free arm and ripped himself off the swords impaled in the ground.
Raven watched curiously as the injuries closed on their own.
"How interesting, the dead cells multiplied and repaired the injury, even the vital organs healed as well. Yet, your body didn't die or rot, so how do so many dead cells exist to multiply, more importantly how do they heal the organs?" Raven mumbled to himself as he leapt off the ceiling bar he was standing on.
With a grunt of exertion he landed on the ground and smiled.
"You brat, are you a dead apostle as well!? This is my territory!"
"I supposed I am being impolite aren't I? Though to be fair, you are as well." Raven said with a tilt of his head as if confused.
"I am not a dead apostle. I am Raven Inanis, a rookie dead apostle hunter. True Magician. Feel free to run Jerry~"
"Why would I run from a brat like you? And my name is JARED!" He yelled out at the end as he rushed forward at fast speeds, but Raven only smiled before he swung his arm out as he caused a block of stone to crash down right where the man was running.
He made a sound as he ran into it.
"Ragh!" The man growled out as he lifted the stone up and tossed it at Raven.
Raven created a whip and used it to pull himself towards a beam and spin around it, using his momentum to fly towards the dead apostle.
The man grunted as he stood still and caught Raven by the chest and then speedily held him upside down by the leg and started squeezing painfully.
"Ouch. Are you this rough with everyone?" He ignored the pain and created a sword that he stabbed into the man's chest and then a scythe he swung to cut the head off as a distraction.
Then without a moment of hesitation he used a clawed hand to rip the still beating heart out and crushed it.
The body dropped to the ground then.
Raven sighed as he saw the numerous thralls charging at him. It would be a long night, but then suddenly ten people dropped down and started mowing them down using hand held throwing swords.
Raven idly vanished his creations and glanced at Lorelei who now stood beside him.
"The church. Normally they deal with things like this, but I declared the dead apostle as mine. Now that it's dead, they are cleaning up. We can leave. Once you have a shower at the hotel, we will go eat that pizza I promised." She said and he nodded with cheer as they left the building.

So a little hunt, yes it was easy for him, but he didn't instantly destory the dead apostle.
1) He was underestimated.
2) He had the shock and anger advantage.
3) His opponent is a fresh dead apostle.
4) I make the rules.
Bye~
