Denial, Blood of The Fae

Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Oops

Raven could admit, he had thought he might have some difficulty with magecraft. After all, learning to use three separate magic systems was sure to be hard work, but it wasn't.

Admittedly he took it a bit easier and spent more time studying magecraft before using it, but the basic spells he has learnt were no trouble at all to use.

Thought Acceleration - Self explanatory really. Do it for too long and get a headache though. The brain can only handle so much before reaching its limit.

Reinforcement - A type of strengthening magic. Can be used to strengthen things, and people. For example, someone extremely skilled with it can reinforce a paperclip to be as strong as a sword. People can also be reinforced, but it's much more risky.

Shared Perception - As the name implies, he can see out of a creature or person he has a bond with in some form using this technique.

Projection/Gradation Air - A type of magecraft that substitutes magic energy in exchange for one's imagination to temporarily take form in the real world as a fake phantasm. Normally this would cause an item to vanish due to the world's influence realizing it's not belonging, but because of his true magic, this is a moot point and it becomes real. However to make anything even slightly complicated he must know the intricate details of what he's making.

Memory Manipulation - A basic spell recommended for all magus to preserve the secret of magecraft. It allows for memory manipulation obviously. The effect can be limited due to certain limitations or issues.

There was a spell he saw, but he decided he would wait to train it with Lorelei. Memory Partition. It was a complicated spell, but one that would see him getting so much more done, yet at the same time focusing on just one project at a time.

It was complicated like he said.

Of course, while those were general spells he focused on, he had owled Lorelei asking for a book on Fire and Darkness magecraft.

It was a week later he had received a pile of notes on said magecraft. He tried to ignore the blood on a corner of some pieces.

It was good information though. Fire magecraft was a lot more simple then Darkness magecraft.

For Fire, it was simpler. Flames are Oxygen ignited. The more oxygen, the stronger the flame. It was a bit of a mental game.

Magecraft was science, using Mystery to give actualization to the desired result. So as a result science was used.

Gas + Sparks = Flame

Oxygen + Flame = Bigger Flame

So by that logic, using Mystery to mimic the effect of Gas + Spark, he got Flame. However said Flame wouldn't last without Oxygen. So Mystery was also given the form of Oxygen to give life to the Flame to burn.

So he got a flame, which hovered above his hand. An orange flame burning calmly. Purposeless other than to burn as a small flame as was the purpose of the spell.

Darkness though, what was darkness? What was the scientific theory of darkness? What caused and created darkness.

The absence of Light. So obviously to create darkness, one would remove light. Yet then without light there would be no darkness, as the weakness of light gave birth to darkness, but one could also say Darkness gave birth to Light.

It was a confusing element of magecraft. It made his brain hurt. Yet despite that, he found himself enjoying it.

A branch of darkness was shadows, and so far he's been able to slightly manipulate the shadows of things. Nothing crazy, but he can make them move to form shapes. He made shadows form monsters where people looked for practice.

"Ok, so now if I do this, then Darkness will be created." Raven said as he started actualization of his newest spell. However, one little issue.

He should have used a small bit of magic, however to him he did use a small amount, to others though, he used a ridiculous amount of energy that some people don't use even in a week.

So a whole part of the grounds became filled with darkness. The absence of light. Raven quickly canceled the effects of the spell, by doing the opposite and filling darkness with light, thus nullifying the effects.

It was an overpowered lumos spell.

"Oops." Raven giggled to himself as he blinked to fix his eyesight. Total darkness to total light is not good on the eyes.

A short chapter, I'm just adding filler at this point lmao. One more filler like chapter, then chapter 15 will be the closing feast and the prelude to explaining the summer vacation time.

Till next time!

P.S. I planned to drop a huge foreshadow this chapter, but decided to push it off for next chapter, possibly chapter 15, so have fun looking for it~
