Defying the Rogue Alpha

Silence fell over the room at the question. Nelly placed her mug on the table wile Lily fidgeted with the napkin. Sarah could care less.

"I will advise you not to mention anything of the sort to Alpha Lucas." Nelly said.

"Why not? It's the fastest way to get her heart ripped out, literally." Sarah spat.

Ava ignored Sarah. "I'm not asking Alpha Lucas. I am asking you."

Nelly exchanged a look with the others before speaking, "He once had a fated mate."

"Had?" Ava sat straight up.

"She was mated to someone else already. He did his best to get her to leave but she refused to. She already had a daughter and didn't want to leave the child behind. It drove him mad. He was like a man possessed by a thousand devils."

"He still is a man possessed by a thousand devils." Ava muttered but they could hear her.

Nelly laughed. "Lucas wasn't as threatening as he is now. He had heart. But the rejection humiliated and broke him. and that's when he changed. He went berserk and cold hearted. That is his way of dealing with heartbreak."

Lily sighed. "Which means no Luna, ever."

Ava's mind worked fast as she had a few minutes to head to the training ground. If Lucas had once loved then it meant he could love again, no matter how brutal he is. She didn't have to love him back, she just needed to get to the top. Ava – omega to concubine to Luna. She was going to be the most powerful woman in the Silver Pack.

As she mulled the new information she had over, a young female omega came into the dining room. "The Alpha has requested you all to prepare for tonight at the club house. He expects to be entertained."

"Yas!!!" Sarah squealed.

"Entertained? I don't understand." Ava questioned

"It means, new girl… we are going dancing." Sarah responded.

Nelly sighed. "I will leave it up to you young ones. I have outgrown such matters now."

Ava thought this was the perfect opportunity. She was going to meet Alpha Raventhorn once more but this time not as his prey but as his hunter.

Arriving at the training yard, Kade was already there, shirtless again. Why didn't he ever wear a shirt? Ava swallowed hard trying not to stare.

"I will give it to you, for someone without a wolf, you are quite strong headed. I didn't think you would come back today. Impressive."

Ava cocked an eyebrow, challenging him. "I have been hit harder, never by someone who swings like a girl though."

"Look at that. A masochist. Alpha Lucas must enjoy breaking you."

Ava rolled her eyes at herself at the mention of Alpha Lucas which reminded her of her plan. She cant go around having baby crushes on her personal trainer, no matter how good looking he is.

"Today's session has to be short. I need time to get ready for tonight."

"What's happening tonight?"

"The Alpha sent a message about coming to the club house."

"Oh that. We do not have to train today then." He suggested lifting an eyebrow.

"You said I have you for a month. I cannot lose any time."

"Very well. I will go easy on you today."

Ava threw him an unbelieving look. "really?"

Kade shrugged his shoulders and threw the wooden sword at her. This time she caught it mid air and his lips lifted in a small smile.

Kade swung with calculated steps and precise movements toward her to confuse her before landing his sword on the arm she used in blocking.

"You said you would go easy!" she snapped.

"You should be used to me lying to you by now." Kade retorted amusingly.

"asshole!"

He growled or rather his wolf growled.

She rolled her eyes once more, ignoring the golden spark in his eyes. She adjusted her stance and copied his exact movements from earlier before she lunged.

This time, he let her land a hit. "Better but predictable."

As the sun started to go down, Kade round up their training. When she started to leave, he called her back.

"Ava?"

She turned to him, sweat still dripping from her skin. "Yes?"

"Why are you doing this? Why cant you wait for your wolf to emerge?"

"because I want to," she shrugged.

"I feel like you are fighting towards something. I know that rage. I have felt that rage."

"And what if I am? I am tired of being the butt of everyone's jokes. I am done being a punching bag. I am learning so I can become powerful so no one can mock me ever again!!!"

Kade smiled, something akin to respect flashing in his eyes. "The stop fighting like someone who wants to survive and start fighting like someone who wants to win… I'll see you tomorrow."

Ava turned and walked away not completely understanding what he just said.

Ava stood outside Alpha Lucas's office gathering and mustering all the courage she needed. She had rushed to her room after training to take a shower and changed into some small shorts and a big blouse. She wanted to go shopping and she needed money.

If she was going to look good tonight to get him to be more interested in her, considering she had competition, she had to take the risk. She had to overcome her fears.

With resolve, she knocked.

"Enter!" his voice boomed through the door.

She pushed open the door and stepped inside. Alpha Lucas sat behind his desk, his eyes locked on her in surprise.

"Ah, my little virgin girl." He murmured. "what do you want?"

Ava hesitated before squaring her shoulders. She was going to get what she wanted. She thought about how Sarah would sway her hips seductively when she walked and tried to mimic it.

She took sultry steps forward, keeping her eyes on him.

"I heard about the entertainment tonight and I thought I could dress up to suit the occasion."

 "And?"

"I would like to go shopping."

"You need money."

She took another step forward, she trailed her finger along the edge of his desk and bent over, her blouse dropping low enough for him to catch a glimpse of her breasts inside it.

Lucas exhaled in amusement. His silence unnerving her. He leaned forward gently, his eyes dropping into her blouse.

"You will have to try harder to be able to seduce me. I take women whenever I want them."

"I wasn't…"

"Oh you were. You are quite good at it too. Your pretty face is tempting. I will have you when I want you. This drama is painful to watch."

Ava decided to drop the charade, it wasn't working.
