Chapter 19: Police Hunt

A police officer, a lieutenant colonel named Ryutaiya Kanagawa, is a mature man with a mustache and a bald head. He is a respected officer in Musutafu, but recently he has been following a drug trafficking trail on the outskirts of town, which does not please either the Yakuza or All For One, who works with them. The temporary warehouses are in danger of being discovered, so All For One has put a bounty on his head, and naturally in these turbulent times there will be marginal individuals willing to take on this case.

One of the first people to take on this case is Taiko Garaki, nicknamed Grimm. Due to his quirk, he is confident that he can kill a police officer if he waits for the right moment. Since his last case in the unfavorable Jaku district, he has been training intensively with his weight, but at some point Taiko realized that he needs to start moving on to more difficult weights.

-Who would have thought that I would become not a scientist, but a thug. I should have sat and learned from Kyudai. - Taiko ate a chicken and salad sandwich, dangling his legs from the roof of the building opposite the police station where the policeman worked. The policeman's address was unknown, so he could only graze him in one possible place. Giran sent him only his first and last name in the messenger, as well as a photo of what he looked like.

Giran gave him a cool blade weighing several kilograms and a sheath for it on his belt. -But a pistol is still better. Swords are a thing of the past, aren't they? -Taiko doubted it, but why not try, of course, it could cost him his life.

-"Where should you hit first to disarm a cop? In the hand holding the holster of the gun. It is logical that the hand will rush there first, at the first danger to their lives. The...what was it called...six meter rule works here? I think so. In this case, you only have a second or two to react. The target is pretty old, he might hesitate, you can play on that."

Suddenly, Taiko heard someone on the roof besides himself, he quickly jumped onto the fire escape and went down into a dark alley in literally a couple of seconds. - "I don't know why they put a reward on the cop, apparently he dug up something that All For One doesn't need."

Turning the corner, Taiko stepped on some homeless guy's foot.

-Mmm...Watch where you're going! - the gleam of metal in the streetlight glowed menacingly. -Oh, my God. - the toothless homeless guy retreated.

Taiko found himself right next to the establishment where a lot of cops were hanging around. He hid behind a trash can and started changing. -"It looks like they often grab something to eat here."

Changing into nondescript casual clothes: baggy pants with a hoodie taken from his backpack, he put on a deep hood, and hid the sword under a trash can. Then Taiko left the alley and went straight to the establishment, where several cops were currently snacking on street food and discussing something.

Slightly nervous, he took regular water and sat down not far from them, turning his back to the three policemen. Perking up his ears, he began to look at the TV, showing some news.

The only thing he managed to hear: -Take Kanagawa too.

-"Good thing they just came to order."

After waiting a couple of minutes, Taiko looked out for the face of the needed policeman. -"One of them is the target's partner."

-Do you have a patrol today? - the cop asked, apparently from Kanagawa's partner.

- No, we're on a mission.

Realizing which one of them was the partner, Taiko stood up and, as if by accident, slipped, falling on the right policeman, but in fact, he attached a GPS tracker to his sleeve. The tracker was pre-connected to his phone. - "Kyudai has a lot of different gadgets."

- Oh. Sorry. - a quiet voice came from under the hood.

- Be more careful. Next time, watch your step!

- "I don't think I noticed. It didn't turn out perfect, but it's good enough for a first time." - Taiko exhaled and followed to get ready for their departure.

...

Just before both cops left, Taiko checked two contracts for the head of the second policeman. - Wait, isn't that his partner? Ha-ha! I'm damn lucky. - At first, Taiko was happy about the fact that he could catch two hares at once, but on the other hand, this topic was not at all for joy.

- We must not forget what I do. This is not a joke. - he pulled himself together. Now he relied more on his own strength, as he called it, "half-nomu," than on his unyielding quirk, with which it took a long time to establish contact.

Constantly thinking about the contract, he forgot to be surprised by the unique beauty of Musutafu. Many buildings, bright signs, developed public transport, shopping centers, and this is not even talking about the city center with the branches of the pro-heroes. Where right now they are building another skyscraper for Endeavor.

Of course, he did not like this beauty, at least the beauty of nature was more attractive. He dreamed of one day living with Kuin far, far away from people. Maybe even children from her... From such thoughts, Taiko blushed and returned to reality, slapping himself in the face.

- Phew. Get it together. Gotta work. - Both cops got into the car, looking exactly like the photo. Taiko mentally called one of his hornets, taken from the forest earlier, which had entered the car the moment the cop opened the door. He concentrated until he felt the connection with the hornet set up. Taiko began to hear the fluctuations of the voice, since they have no ears, and also see with a kind of vision.

Now the police car left the precinct where both targets of the contract were located. Taiko still did not know why they had a bounty on them, but you know how it often happens when cops cross the line or run into something.

Taiko had trained well enough to jump from building to building, avoiding cameras. All the accumulated experience in climbing helped him, and the strengthening of the semi-nomou significantly affected. He deliberately chose stronger structures for landing and avoided fragile or flimsy ones in advance. So he can pursue the target all the way to the destination, or not quite.

After covering a considerable distance, he was out of breath, even with the strength of a half-nomou, which indicated that training with his own weight had stopped developing him. He can easily do a somersault or roll several meters into the air or lift himself with one hand. However, the older he gets, the more he will weigh, for this he also needs to increase the load.

- For now... Ha-a... hunting cops is the best training... Phew..

During the entire trip, they exchanged suspicions and prepared to uncover one of the yakuza drug warehouses and there were many other details. It was a warehouse on the outskirts of Musutafu, a very unpopulated, but industrial area. Taiko prepared himself when they got out of the car and began to carefully examine the address. In fact, the police car was not one. There were no flashing lights and other attributes of the police, and they were dressed in civilian clothes. Naturally, so that they would not be recognized, but they did not even suspect who was following them.
