Decaying Seas

Chapter 5: Years Past - Setting Sail on the Grand Line

3rd POV

Once all the arms receded into Pythias, the boy was left all alone, on an island that had no humans on it and barely any life left. He didn't know this though seeing as he was currently knocked out and fast asleep left to his dreams.

The world however would soon become a much more chaotic place, as this incident alongside various others around the world would lead to a new era. To what kind of era, only the children would know, would it be like the Great Pirate Era or would something else take its place, a place that Pythias W. Silvers would have a place in?

As what kind of person though that would all be left to fate to decide, for the power he now wields as well.

As the boy woke up he looked around, scared beyond his wits and crying once more trying to understand what happened. He got himself up and began walking around trying to find anything left behind in the mines and yet found nothing. Nothing but ash and dust particles, the only thing that remained of the people, minerals, and of the mine that was once here.

Then he saw it, he looked to the sky for the first time and saw the sun, the bright blue sky, and clouds going across it. Seeing it he smiled as tears fell to the ground, for he had fulfilled his promise to his grandfather escaping the wretched mines, and saw the sky for the first time in his life.

Yet he couldn't be fully happy about it, for all around him lay the remains of his fellow slaves who he hoped one day too would see the sky again. He wanted to walk alongside them all, to let their faces feel the sun's rays as they left the mines and the marines behind, to forge a new path in their life.

Not knowing what to do, Pythias began to climb out of the hole trying to see what lay ahead of him in this new world. In the world that lay beyond the cold and darkness of the mines. Step by step, he climbed out of the hole and eventually reached the surface of the island and felt the soft grass for the first time.

Yet each time he touched the dirt, he didn't fully touch it and instead used all but his pinky for some reason. Yet when he felt the grass for the first time, he used his full hand and the grass began to decay to wither to nothing. Pythias was able to climb out in time to see this and by this point had stopped crying, but he now had a horrified expression on his face seeing this.

It was at this moment, that Pythias was able to see what had happened to all the slaves, and marines, and what had destroyed the mines. Climbing fully out of the hole he knelt down and stared at his hands. Then he began to scratch his neck, uncontrollably without the use of his thumbs. He just couldn't stop it was the only thing that felt good in that moment.

He screamed out to the world as both hands scratched his neck, he screamed out at the horror he had unleashed, at the evil his hands had committed, or at least to his belief it did.

Cannon - Grand Line Beginnings - 12 years

Timeskip - 11 years

Now a 16-year-old, Pythias W. Silvers had spent this time learning how to properly steer and take care of a ship. Using every day that he was stuck on this island as a learning experience, how to properly cook and grow plants, how to control his ability, and how far it went. Everything he needed to know on how to survive on the open sea, hopefully anyway.

During that time he had some access to the outside world in the form of newspapers with some berries left behind by the navy to pay for it. He had learned a bit of the outside world, of the Seven Warlords, the Four Emperors stationed in the new world, and everything that the Navy kept that wasn't manipulated or twisted in some way.

Each day it had grown harder and harder to tell what was actual news and what was simply navy propaganda. He had seen plenty of wanted posters of famous pirates each one with millions of berries as a bounty reward. So many new things he had learned about, so many things he wanted to do.

Most of all however was his sole goal, the one thing he had to do before he died. The complete destruction of the World Government, of every power associated with them. No matter the cost he would make it all decay and turn into nothing but ruins and rubble.

Those were the thoughts that went through his head for 11 years, those are the thoughts cemented into him as he scratched his neck nearly every day. In the end, it was the only thing he could think about.

Such ferocity and obsession would serve him well once he left the island finally, after all, he couldn't possibly be the only one in the world with such hatred for the current ruling power.

What he would become, however, a pirate or a revolutionary no one would be able to figure out.

Today though was the day he would be leaving this island once and for all. While it was clear to anyone who saw them that a few Navy ships were out of commission one was well taken care of, at least to the best of Pythias's capabilities. So slowly he began to gather everything he needed alongside some Marine uniforms he had been wearing for quite a bit now.

On the ship, he had gathered quite the food supply and had even figured out how to make a makeshift garden so that fresh food would be available on his boat to wherever he needed to go to accomplish his goals. Then once he was all ready to go, he walked to the front of the ship and stared at the sky and setting sun, then he began to laugh.

"Ka Ka Ka Ka, KAKAKAKAKA!"

This would mark the beginning of "Death Touch" Pythias W. Silvers.
