DC- Overwatch Leader System

Chapter 3: mission

Right now, I'm in my dad's lab, if you can even call it that.

This place feels like a tech paradise, full of weapon blueprints, experiments, and initial ideas that never made it off the drawing board. Matheus Moissam... he's simply a genius.

On the table next to me, there are tons of books on every subject imaginable. At the moment, I'm studying politics and engineering simultaneously.

I don't know how it works, but I just understand. I knew I wouldn't be able to do this, but now I just get it. I'm waiting for the team's call to start the mission, so for now, I'm studying everything I can. They left about 4 hours ago, possibly checking the situation.

I received the initial projects from Ms. Mina.

And... I didn't understand anything. It looks like a mix of calculations, engineering, and chemistry that I don't understand yet.

But one thing is certain: I'm already about 3 times smarter than I was before I came here.

That's the level of intelligence I received from the system. And, looking at a project that I wouldn't have understood 5 hours ago, it seems like some things are coming to mind. I can't stop getting excited.

I think I'm ready to try and create my first weapon.

Weapon... no, I can't leave Overwatch. As a leader, I can't go to the battlefield. But there's nothing wrong with being, it would be... a mecha controlled by me, that would go to the battlefield.

While I was lost in thought, a voice came from the microphone I was wearing.

...Moments before...

"Arriving at Gold Coast... this ship is my girlfriend from now on," said the Liberty Hawk pilot.

"Hahah, looks like you're excited, Tracer," said the gorilla with glasses.

"Whiston, you know how long I've wanted to fly this ship? But Matheus never lets me," she said with puffed cheeks.

"You should know why he didn't let you use another ship of his... he was still blaming himself for leaving you lost in space and time because of your first ship," said the oldest woman in the group, as if she were teaching the recruits.

"Humm... he shouldn't. It's not his fault, I insisted on participating in the ship's test... a ship that teleports using the Zeta Beam mechanism. How could I not be excited?" she said with a weight.

...

"Well, now you can teleport with them, right, Tracer? I think in the end you came out on top," said the gorilla, trying to lighten the mood on the ship.

...

"Hahahahahahha," Tracer laughed, drawing laughter from most of those on the ship.

"So, are you going to contact Julian now?" asked the pilot.

...

"Are we really going to do this? I'm already in command, we can control the situation and take this jerk Cain down," said 76, making his position clear in relation to the heir.

After all, Matheus Moissam created Overwatch from scratch. It's only what it is today because of him. Julian... the only thing that makes him a leader is his position as a son, without merit, nothing more, nothing less.

"Soldier... let's give him a chance. I know you regret not being with Matheus when he needed help, but you can't protect his son forever. One day he's going to have to do things on his own. Why not now that we're here to help if he messes up?" Once again, the voice of reason: Ana.

"... alright, but if he messes up, we're going to do it ourselves," said 76.

"Yes." Everyone agreed with his statement.

"We don't know your potential, but Matheus entrusted the organization to you, so I think we can do the same," said the conscious Android.

...

"Making contact... leader, can you hear me?" said an animated voice.

...

It came into my ear, this voice... Tracer.

"Yes, Tracer, I'm listening," I said, leaving the lab and running to the command room.

"What's the situation, Agent Tracer?" I said almost breathlessly. In the command room, I can see everything they can see because of the ship's connection to the base.

"Landing in 2 minutes," she said, preparing to land.

"I understand, releasing drones from the ship. Tracer, activate the reconnaissance function. Whiston, activate camouflage. We don't want to alert them that we've arrived," I said, and this is just the beginning of what the Liberty Hawk can do.

"Yes, sir," said Tracer.

'System, function 3'

[Running]

The drones are just the cover for the system's ability - vision -, with it I have an aerial view of the entire battlefield.

"Ouch," this headache... I almost fainted. It's like I have a third eye, and it's in the sky looking down.

I have a view of the entire block.

"Sir, there's no place to land this ship, even landing vertically," said Whiston.

"Engage autopilot, Tracer, get everyone off the ship when it's as low as possible," I said. This is fun and it's like I'm a spectator, but at the same time a protagonist.

"I understand."

The Liberty Hawk is 40 meters long, 30 meters wide, and 12 meters high. In a neighborhood like Gold Coast, it's normal not to have a landing place.

While they land, I'm looking for them. We only have Cain's appearance, but one thing we know is that all members of "The Evolution" have a phoenix tattoo on their backs.

I don't know why these crazy people would put something on their bodies that makes them easier to locate. But I'm not going to complain, after all, it helps us.

While I'm checking with the system and the drones, trying to find any member of "The Evolution," the agents have already landed and the ship is on the edge in case they need it.

"Did you find anything?" said a rough voice.

"Not yet. Do you know how big this city is, 76? Do you know how big this place is?" I said, almost defeated. I don't know why he's so hard to find.

"Looking at the whole city, they seem... I found it!" I almost made them go deaf.

"Whiston, take Ms. Amari to the fifth building in front of you."

"They're in the white mansion 500 meters from you. Tracer, do a reconnaissance of the location. Soldier and Zenyatta, stay together. I'll try to find their exact positions," I said, adjusting the drones. If I had 3D vision, it would be much easier.

"YES, captain."

The system's vision is only aerial and I can't see behind walls.

But the drones can...

Since there are several, it's easier for me to do the reconnaissance inside the mansion while Tracer does the outside.

Checking inside the mansion, I see two men leaning against the window, looking as if they were searching for something.

"Two targets located in the front window of the mansion. One appears to have super hearing, and the other is unknown."

How did I know about the super hearing? Because one of them was with his ear against the wall trying to listen, while the other was quiet waiting for his companion to speak.

"Targets in my sights," said a calm voice, Amari herself, who is in the building at this moment.

"We'll avoid deaths, Ana. We need all the information possible, but, obviously, if necessary, you have permission to kill," I said calmly. After all, it's not like it's their first missions.

"I've checked around the house. There are 3 people outside," said Tracer in a whisper.

"So far 5, but Cain... soldier."

"Understood," said 76.

He ran as fast as he could, easily mistaken for a car.

He reached the location and went around behind the mansion. "I FOUND HIM," he said.

"What's that sound?" said the first, before the soldier landed a punch that threw him against the wall.

The other 2 were still confused about what happened, they tried to do something, but before they even went on guard, the soldier punched the one on the right, dodging the punch of the one on the left and managing to knock him down with a kick to the chest.

"... wow," I said in shock... it wasn't a fight... it was... it was a humiliation. One minute the soldier was hitting, the next they were taking a beating.

Each with a move... after all, they are the strongest members of Overwatch.

Inside the house, the one who was listening at the door heard the commotion outside, but before making any noise, he saw a blue light.

"Those two are gone," he whispered.

"I'm looking for any other members and the target. Bathrooms, general rooms cleaned, only the bedrooms left. Child-like room... the subject may be holding hostages. Zenyatta and soldier, go in and support Tracer. Whiston, get ready to act," I said in a hurry.

"Miss Ana."

"In position," she said from atop a building.

Keep looking. My third system function is useless inside, as it only works in the open field, but the drones are perfect for this situation.

"Reaching the second floor," I said, and when I was about to update the situation.

Inside a room...

"Hahahah, so what are you going to do now?" said a blond guy with blue eyes, his hand on fire.

In front of him is a woman kneeling. In the corner of the room is another man holding a child who doesn't look older than 6 years old with his hand on his neck, smiling. In the other corner of the room is a wounded man, covered in blood. He seems to have marks all over his body, he looks like he fought.

"What, you're not going to say anything? You stupid primate, how dare you look me in the eye with that expression?" He said with an animated expression: "You should be with your forehead on the ground and thanking me for letting you be inferior. Look at me!" He looked at the woman who was kneeling with a defiant expression.

"I'd rather die," she said with venom in her voice.

"Hahah, being inferior, you're funny, but look on the bright side: you'll be able to give birth to a life that deserves to live in this world. Isn't it wonderful?" He said maniacally. "Or would you rather your filthy son be burned alive?" Snapping his fingers, fire appeared as if it were a trivial thing, and he wasn't talking about burning a child alive.

"Mommy, help me," the child said, begging.

The man holding the child squeezed tighter.

"Ahhhhhhh," the child screamed.

"Calm down, my love, everything will be alright, okay?"

And for the first time, the woman showed an expression of fear, and the maniac's smile grew wider.

"So, filthy, your body or your son? Hahahahahhaha."

He and his partner laughed.

I saw everything, from beginning to end, and... I was angry... at what they were doing... I can't explain it.

But they think they have the right to do whatever they want to other people because they think they're superior... I just want them to cease to exist.

"Situation: Cain is here, second floor, fifth door on the right, a wounded man. Cain has a companion, he's holding a child. I want Tracer to get the child out of here. Whiston, 76, I want you to face Cain. Zenyatta, help the wounded man," I said with hatred. I want them all alive, because here we're going to have a good conversation.

"Yes, sir."

Everyone was heading to the second floor.

The first to arrive was Tracer. With the ability to teleport, she managed to enter the room by surprise.

The guy holding the child could do nothing but receive a punch strong enough to throw him against the wall. When he fell, he was going to take the woman hostage, but the door was ripped from its hinges and thrown at him.

Thinking fast, he set the door on fire, but before he could burn it down, he was met by a gorilla who grabbed him by the arm and threw him out the window. After all, no one fights someone who has firepower in a confined space.

Zenyatta quickly reached the wounded man.

"You'll be fine, after all your family needs you," said Zenyatta.

"Who... who are you?" the boy said, almost crying.

"Relax, honey, the cavalry has arrived," he said smiling, a contagious smile.

The woman, who now stood up, looked at the agents, except for 76 and Whiston, who were at that exact moment outside with Cain.

"This symbol, you are..."

"Power, relax, lady, Overwatch has arrived," Tracer said calmly.

The woman almost started crying. "My husband, he... he..." She couldn't finish what she was saying because of the tears.

"Relax, your husband is fine," said the team's medic... for now.

...

I was at the base breathing. Damn, my first mission and almost came a heinous crime.

I don't even know what to think.

If I hadn't left Tracer with the Liberty Hawk, they wouldn't have arrived so fast. After all, it's the fastest ship in Overwatch.

[Your decisions... can make differences you can't imagine... even the ship your agents will use will decide who lives and who dies.]

...I understand....

While things calmed down in the room, outside the fight had just begun.

Cain, who was getting up, looked at the people... the person was the gorilla who was in front of him.

"Ahhahah," smiling like a madman, "Overwatch is here. I thought after we killed your leader, you'd go bankrupt. After all, Overwatch is nothing without him, right?" He said with a smile.

"It was almost that," the voice now came from a drone behind Cain.

Several laser beams came out of the drone, but they all passed through him, while his body became fire.

After a while, he fired a fireball at the drone, and the drone didn't even try to dodge.

This happened 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 times. Every time a drone was destroyed, another one appeared.

At this point, Cain was already irritated. "What does this nonsense mean? You don't even have the courage to face me? Overwatch without its leader has become a coward?" He said with an irritated expression.

"It seems the leader's calculation is not wrong. You have a limit to how much you can elementalize," Winston said.

What Cain didn't realize is that these laser attacks from the drone weren't because Overwatch became cowardly, no... we were just testing his ability.

At this moment, another drone appeared and fired. Cain, obviously, didn't even try to dodge, and at that moment...

"Haaaaaaaaa!" A scream came from his mouth, and there was a hole in his right arm.

"You thought you were invincible, but what you didn't know is that any meta power has a limit. Every time you're hit, your elementalization negates the damage, but it's not unlimited. I theorized that it could have a limit and it seems my deductions were right," said the drone that fired at Cain.

"DIEEEE!" Cain shouted, but... no flames came out. "What... what did you do to my powers? Give it back!"

"Why don't you look at that building?" the drone said.

And when Cain looked in that direction, there was a woman with a sniper lying down, with the sniper releasing some smoke.

"Canceled the meta gene... really, my father is a genius." At this moment, Cain looked shocked. "Ahhhh, what was that? We, humans, adapt to everything. Just because you have power, don't think we couldn't adapt to your abilities?" He said with a cynical voice.

"Shut up, that doesn't make sense. Nothing hit me besides the laser beam," he said almost crazy.

"My God... why don't you look at your arm?" I said as if I were talking to a child.

When he looked at his left arm, he saw a dart on it.

"This Meta Nullifier would never catch you with elementalization, so we had to make you lose it... did you like it?" I asked excitedly, after all, this is my first mission.

"No, no, no, no! I'm invincible, the second leader of evolution, nothing can defeat me! Aahhhhhhh!" he said desperately, running towards the soldier, preparing a punch.

But the soldier punched him so hard that he fell to the ground and didn't move anymore.

"...system."

[Mission complete. With the completion of the mission, function 2 can be used. Do you want to use it now?]

No.

"Okay, guys, mission complete. I'm done here, go back to base... soldier," I said to the current leader of this mission.

"What?" he said calmly.

"Did I pass?"

"Hum."

"Hey, you know how many neurons I needed to think about this strategy?" I said helplessly.

"...it wasn't bad," he said turning around.

"Cool," I said excitedly. After all, the soldier himself praised me. That's like getting a smile from Batman, and it's for the few.

On top of the building, the woman with the sniper in her hand was looking at the scene.

"Hahah, I think you were right, Matheus. He can take Overwatch where you couldn't," Ana said to herself.

...

Back at the base, I was tired.

"I'll leave the interrogation to the soldier. I'm not ready for that, but the second function, a new member, who will it be... oh, what a pain, there will surely be a UN meeting after they find out we have one of the leaders of the 'evolution'."

But... I think for now it's okay.

[I think this was the weakest chapter, but in the next one things will get more interesting, and the new member... By the universe that takes place, you possibly already know who it will be]
