DC- Overwatch Leader System

Chapter 2: Collecting information

Looking at the room I was in, I noticed my office was bigger than my old house.

With a 3-meter desk in the corner and a high-tech looking computer, there was a picture on the corner of the desk.

A picture of two people, one I recognize vaguely, it was me, literally looking like me, but the other person is an older man, and it's like I know him.

He's putting his hand on my head and smiling at the camera.

"System, who is this man?" I asked, even though I already knew the answer.

[His name is Matheus Moissam, your father in this universe, creator of Overwatch, recently killed in action.]

"...I don't know what to say."

[He had a life, you can honor his sacrifice and the others, even dead and wounded, by winning this war.]

"...I understand."

I'm sorry for taking your son's place, what happened is unforgivable, but... I won't dishonor your name... I swear.

Picking up the papers on the desk and straightening my suit, preparing to leave.

It's time to meet the Overwatch members.

...

The moment I entered the room, my heart almost jumped out of my chest.

There were the agents I had only seen through a computer screen, they were looking at me, each with a different expression on their faces.

Funny how these were the first agents I started playing with, until I almost never trained with them. Those were good times.

"I think everyone knows me, but I'll introduce myself again. My name is Julian Moissan, I'm the captain and leader of Overwatch, and it's a pleasure to meet you." I said with a smile. But I was nervous, there were the agents I would lead, and also the first ones I played with.

Ana, Soldier 76, Tracer, Winston and Zenyatta.

The first ones I played with from each class.

But now they're not game characters, now they're real people, with dreams and desires.

[The system recognizes members of Overwatch, all functions unlocked.]

[Passive - Intelligence. A leader must be intelligent, function unlocked, no longer having learning limitations.]

[Function 1 - Ability to analyze and enhance agents.]

[Function 2 - Find members. Potential members are scattered around the world, the system will help find them.]

[Function 3 - Vision. As a leader, you must have a vision of the battlefield, whenever you are in charge, you will have an aerial view.]

[System functions unlocked. Would you like to test now?]

'No'. I'm in the middle of a meeting, I can't get distracted right now.

"Love, are you alright?" Said a woman with a cute appearance, with a worried face.

"I am, just a few things are on my mind. Let's start the meeting," I said, taking a serious expression.

Everyone did the same. I knew I was being tested, after all, they were all my father's agents, so they're going to compare me to him, so I have to do my best to impress them and make it clear why I'm the leader.

Putting the papers on the table, I said: "One of our agents discovered the location of one of the leaders of 'The Evolution', the member in question is called Cain, but his real name is Eric Jones."

"His current whereabouts are in Chicago, and he was last seen on the Gold Coast. His meta-human powers are pyrokinesis, with the ability to create and control flames. He also appears to be able to become fire itself, having the ability to become immune to physical blows."

I spoke in one breath and was a little shocked. Did this guy eat an Akuma no Mi? What a strong meta-human.

Everyone looked at me, and I looked at them...

They were waiting for more information.

And for the first time, I used the system's number one function.

And at that moment.

'Use analysis on Soldier.'

[Yes.]

I looked at the soldier in front of me.

[A soldier who, upon being disabled by a meta-human, volunteers for one of Overwatch's experiments. The experiment, in this case, was to become a super soldier. Due to an error in the laboratory, everyone inside the laboratory died, except for one.]

[After it was confirmed that the experiment, in part, was a success, he was called to be one of the first Overwatch agents. He received his codename based on his enlistment in the experiment. The survivor's name is Jack Morrison.]

[Codename - Soldier 76.]

[Soldier 76 - Abilities:

Body 5 times stronger than the peak of humanity - strength, speed, resistance.

Superhuman reaction.

Master of weapons, master of hand-to-hand combat.]

[Equipment:

High-precision rifle.]

'...system, where's the rest of the soldier's equipment?' I asked curiously, there's a lot missing from his kit.

[The host can improve the agents' equipment.]

[He can create the equipment himself or ask other people to create it.]

[Enhancing agents, that's one of my functions.]

'I understand, now I wonder if everyone will be like this.' It would be nice if they all had their equipment and abilities, but it's not the end of the world either. I can get infinitely smarter, apparently, so I can create or ask a scientist to create with my ideas. It won't be that bad.

It also tells a bit of his story in this universe.

"But apparently he can't stay in that state for long."

Good news is it's not unlimited like an Akuma no Mi, so he can be defeated easier.

"We don't know how many members are with him, but we're sure it's less than 10, with one having the ability to control lightning. Unfortunately, we don't know anything else."

"At least the information isn't that bad," said a man in a blue uniform.

"76, I know you may not believe I have the ability to lead you, after all, on the battlefield you are the best of Overwatch," I spoke the truth... that's a fact.

"But I just need a chance to prove I can do this, be the leader like my father wanted." I said, giving the respect my father in this universe deserves, even though I have no memories of this life.

Everyone looked at me, but I stood firm, ready for any reaction... but it didn't come.

They all looked at each other and nodded to each other.

"We'll give you a chance, Julian. I still think you're too young to be the leader of Overwatch," said the woman with an eyepatch, Ana.

"Your courage is commendable," said Zenyatta.

"I think I know why Matheus asked you to be the leader," said the team's tank with a smile.

"Let's see what you're capable of, kid," said 76.

'I'm 24 years old, you old man,' I thought annoyed.

"What's the mission, captain?" Said one of my favorite characters, Tracer.

I smiled and said, "Your mission is to find his location and bring him in alive, your teammates too, but our priority is Cain. Soldier 76, you're the leader on this mission, I'll be listening when you find him."

"You can go now." This was harder than it sounds, they're more skilled than me at everything. But they're listening to my orders, that's... I have no words for it.

Everyone got up, and Tracer looked at me with a sad dog face.

"What do you want, Miss Oxton?" What did she want?

"Can we?" She said, almost begging.

"What do you mean by that?"

"Can we go with her?" She said, jumping excitedly, but what is she talking about?

System.

[Tracer, requests permission to use the Liberty Hawk, the most powerful Overwatch ship currently, created by Matheus Moissam himself, still unused.]

'Alright, after this I'm going to study everything about Overwatch.'

"Honestly, Miss Oxton, a pilot is always a pilot, right?" I said jokingly.

"So? Please," she said, almost begging.

"Haha, you can use it, but please don't damage it," I said seriously, after all, if this is the most powerful Overwatch ship, few could use it, but Tracer is the best pilot in Overwatch.

"Yesssss, thank you, love," she hugged me and left blinking... that girl.

...

When they left for the mission, I left the room to study. I have no memories of this body, so I have to study everything about Overwatch.

When I was in the hallway going to my room, I saw the woman who called me to my office looking closer. She had a badge on her chest, it read...

"Miss Luana," I called the woman.

"Mr. Moissan, how can I help?" She seemed nervous.

"I need everything we have on Overwatch and Aegis... also bring all kinds of books on any technology related subject we have."

"Why that, sir?" She asked curiously.

"I just need to get something off my mind."

"Yes, sir," she ran off, and I went to my office.

...

Well, how can I say this, Overwatch in this world is a thing.

To start, I'm in 2010, April 4th. Overwatch was created on April 20, 2000. It's been around for 10 years and has always been focused on technology, all kinds of technology, from engineering to robotics. And it integrated with the Aegis Global Authority on February 4, 2010, having been 2 months since we've had this integration.

My father in this universe died 10 days ago, making me the "owner" of Overwatch, but not having full power of the organization, since the elite members, being the team that is on its way to the mission right now, and also having Aegis on my back.

The Aegis Global Authority was created because of the war against meta-humans, and it's an organization that works with the UN. You could say they're one and the same, but with different people in each organization.

I'd say that most of Aegis supports Overwatch, while the UN... well, they're more like "give me your technology for a better world."

But, obviously, they're politicians. In politics, there are no eternal enemies, only benefits.

Overwatch has two bases. One is in Central City, but that's more like a museum, a smokescreen for civilians and bad guys.

The real base is where I am now, in the Himalayas, hidden from the world. Only high-ranking members know about it.

The team's mission is in Chicago, by plane, and it'll take about 14 hours just to get there.

But with the Liberty Hawk, it'll take less than 4 hours... now I know why Tracer is excited. The most powerful ship in Overwatch... for now.

"Mach 2.5, how fast!"

The base is huge, with all kinds of facilities, training grounds, research rooms, and labs, everything you can imagine.

It also has a lot of Overwatch members... around 200, from soldiers to scientists.

Unfortunately, I don't know all the members. It looks like I'll have to meet them one by one.

"This is going to be tiring... system, can you help me?"

[No]

...

"You... could at least help me find someone I know to start working with? I learn better by studying. If I know someone, I can make improvements to my agents more easily."

...

"I was going to talk to Winston, but I couldn't ask him to stay and leave the team without a tank."

...

"I understand."

[..., I'm not that kind of system, I don't help with politics, I won't make you stronger, you'll have to do that yourself. I can't change the world anymore, I can only do it once... I only have 3 functions... the rest is up to you.]

"... I understand... even so, thank you for bringing me here."

[... Mina Liao... don't ask me anything else that's not about leadership.]

"Mina... I know her, she created Athena and Echo... system, you're the best!"

The first thing I did was call Ms. Mina; she's an expert in artificial intelligence and a good start.

...

While I wait for Ms. Mina, I quickly read about the Overwatch members and, besides the agents on missions, I don't recognize anyone else.

And 5 minutes later, right in front of me, was her, the woman who created Echo, Mina Liao.

"Sir, what do you need from me?" She seems nervous.

(Aut - Can you add a picture of Mina Liao here?)

And I know why; in this universe... she created Zenyatta. When I was reading about Overwatch, I saw this: a robot that was supposed to be a therapist, gained independence and consciousness.

Now he's a member of Overwatch, but that doesn't change the fact that creating a conscious robot can cause a disaster.

"What are you doing now, Ms. Mina?"

"Well... I..." she's nervous.

"Go ahead, Ms. Mina, your achievements give you permission for your words to change the course of Overwatch," I said seriously.

"... Right now, I'm in the initiation phase of creating a new Android."

"Like Zenyatta?" She looks like she wants to do it with conviction, not by accident like Zenyatta.

"Yes," she said confidently.

"I understand, you have my permission, but I want to be around for the creation of this new Android." Apparently, I'm going to have my new agent.

"Really? I thought that, after Zenyatta, you'd be against my new project, like your father was." This is news.

"As long as I'm involved in the creation of this conscious Android, I won't be against it," I said seriously. I knew her capabilities, one of the smartest in Overwatch.

"Yes, sir," she said with almost a smile.

"... That was all, you can go; you have my support for anything you need."

"Thank you, sir." She didn't even let me speak; she ran off like the world was ending. Well, with Overwatch's support, Echo will arrive much faster than if she worked alone.

I'm excited.

Learning from her, I can create an AI like Athena for Overwatch.

It's going to be fun.
