Chapter 28: (Short) Interupted
It was getting rather boring for Domnus.
The day was done and pretty much all of the adventurers had left the dungeon to go back to their houses.
But Domnus needed money to pay off the church, so he decided to try to wait until he knows that absolutely no one would be coming to his stand.
It was currently pitch black out, a new moon was in the sky. The only lights were the magic streetlights with a blue glow lighting the way to the city, and the bright white light coming out of Domnus's lantern attached to his stand.
He sat there, the only thing accompanying him were the sounds of crickets and the guards' changing posts at the dungeon.
Every so often Domnus attempted to make small talk with the guards, but they all ended in failure due to the guards being too tired and cranky to care for anything Domnus has to say.
Eventually he realized that there was no one else was going to his stand, and that it was late enough, so he decided to head back to the church.
Domnus then packed up his bag, picked up his lantern, and headed back to the church.
Even with the streets lights attempting to light up the street Domnus's lantern easily lit up more of the streets then them.
Unfortunately for Domnus that made him and his large bag easy to see for anyone.
Slowly but surely more and more people surrounded Domnus staying just outside of his lanterns light.
Domnus was aware of the people surrounding him, but it was none of his business to attack people for watching him.
However, most of them were looking to rob Domnus. All of them not knowing there were other people also gunning for the bag on Domnus's back.
When Domnus was about to leave the streets into a more open area, every person trying to rob Domnus jumped out at once. Then were promptly confused about the others also jumping out.
There were ten people who jumped out, five more still sitting in the shadows.
Each of the ten started to argue about who saw Domnus first.
Domnus knew which one was first, it was the one to his direct left. But he wasn't going to tell them that, not like they would believe him anyway.
As the robbers were arguing with each other Domnus continued on his way to the church.
The robbers arguing didn't notice that Domnus was walking away, nor did the other people still in the shadows due to them watching the other robbers' fight.
At some point they even became aware of each other and started to place bets on which of the ten arguing robbers would be the one to come out on top.
Yet as the robbers bet and fought the light which they were using to see got farther and farther from them.
Eventually the robbers did realize that it was much darker than it was previously, and turned to look for Domnus.
But Domnus was rather far away from them, the light from his lantern could barely be seen it shined through cracks and corners.
The ten robbers who jumped out, demoralized, started to return to where ever they might live.
The other robbers who were betting on the ten, seeing that they were leaving, left as well knowing that their bet was off.
