Chapter 5: Cyber Reaper: Chapter 5 – Crossfire
The cold wind howled through the shattered remains of the skyscraper as Diablo stood on its edge, watching Night City's perpetual chaos unfold below. Last night's gig was a blood-soaked memory, the warehouse still smoldering from the carnage he left behind.
Diablo: "One job done, and the city hands you another."
His Nano armor adjusted automatically, shielding him from the chill as his HUD displayed the details of tonight's contract. An experimental AI chip. Military-grade, designed to outpace any netrunner's abilities. His client's instructions were clear: destroy the convoy and ensure no survivors.
Diablo: "Clean up the corpos' mess again. Typical."
As he leapt from the building, his mind replayed the strange calm he felt the night before. A rare sense of peace beneath the moonlight a fleeting memory now drowned out by the city's cold pulse.

Convoy Route – 24 Hours Later
The convoy moved along the desolate industrial roads of the city outskirts, the cold wind cutting through the air like a blade. Diablo perched atop a crumbling factory, his crimson katana glowing faintly as he observed the scene.
Six armored vehicles, flanked by combat drones and cybered-up guards. His HUD mapped out their patterns, calculating the best entry point.
Diablo: "Standard corpo defense. Shouldn't take more than five minutes."
But then his system flagged something unusual—an encrypted signal. His fingers hovered over the hilt of Amaterasu as he tapped into the feed.
Diablo: Huh? I see another runner
Unknown Runners Detected. Tracing...
Diablo narrowed his eyes as the signal unraveled, revealing another group preparing an ambush. His scanners identified six individuals—famous mercenaries who operated under the name Edgerunners.
Diablo: Maine's crew what a perfect timing i hope this wont be messy Sigh~
---
Lucy's POV
The wind tugged at Lucy's coat as she crouched behind a rusted shipping container. Her hands danced across her neural interface, slicing through layers of security as the convoy approached.
Lucy: "Drones are locked down. Guards are standard corpo grunts—wait..."
Her HUD flickered as an encrypted signal disrupted her connection. Her brow furrowed as she traced the source.
Lucy: "Kiwi, someone's piggybacking on the net. They're good."
Kiwi: "Corpo interference?"
Lucy: "No. It's too clean. Whoever this is, they're not with the convoy."
---
Diablo's POV
Diablo watched from above as the Edgerunners launched their assault. Maine's hulking form crashed through the guards like a freight train, while Rebecca's manic laughter echoed as she shredded drones with her hand cannons.
Diablo: Good lord loud as expected. Time to clean this up."
He moved silently through the shadows, picking off stragglers with precision. His blade glided through the cold air, each strike leaving no trace but falling bodies.
Then Rebecca spotted him.
Rebecca: "We've got company! Some ninja-looking freak—who the hell is this guy?!"
---
Rebecca's POV
The figure moved like nothing she'd ever seen, dodging between guards and drones with inhuman speed. She raised her cannons, firing at the blur.
Rebecca: "Hey, ninja boy! Think you're hot slag?!"
Her bullets missed as the figure leapt over her, landing silently behind her. She spun, her cannons ready, but before she could fire again, the stranger spoke.
Diablo: Sigh~
Rebecca: Heyy!! Why are sighing in my face asshole!! I blow your brains out!
Before she could pull the trigger, a massive hand grabbed her shoulder.
---
Maine's POV
Maine yanked Rebecca back, stepping forward to face the stranger.
Maine: Alright, solo. You're either with us or against us. Pick one.
The wind whipped between them as the stranger stood motionless, his katana glowing faintly in the darkness.
Diablo: You're in my way
Maine grinned, his cybernetic arms flexing.
Maine: Wrong answer.
Diablo: Sigh~
---
Lucy's POV
From her vantage point, Lucy watched the confrontation unfold. The stranger didn't just move fast—he moved perfectly, dodging Maine's punches with precision. Every counterstrike was controlled, his blade stopping just short of Maine's cybernetics.
Clash Clang! Clang!
Lucy: He's holding back. Why?
Her HUD flashed red as another alert broke through her system. Reinforcements.
Lucy: Maine! MaxTac inbound—ETA one minute!"
---
Maine stepped back, glancing at the reinforcements closing in.
Maine: Fine. We'll play nice. For now.
Diablo:....
Diablo didn't respond
Instead, he moved, faster than any of them could follow, dismantling and butchering the remaining guards. Lucy watched as he leapt onto the convoy, his crimson katana cutting through the drones like paper.
Rebecca: Did that ninja just shoot webs?!
Lucy ignored her, focusing on hacking the convoy's mainframe.
---
MaxTac Arrival
The roar of engines heralded MaxTac's arrival. Diablo's Spider-Sense flared as drones descended from the sky. He fired a web-like strand from his wrist, jamming their systems before slicing through them with Amaterasu.
Maine covered Lucy and Rebecca as they made their escape, glancing back at the stranger.
Maine: "This guy's something else."
---
Aftermath
As the last drone fell, the convoy lay in ruins. The Edgerunners regrouped near a rusted overpass, their breaths visible in the freezing night air.
Maine: "Alright, ninja. You got moves, but if you keep stepping on my gigs, we're gonna have problems."
The stranger's katana retracted into its sheath as he turned to leave.
Diablo: Your crew's sloppy. Next time, I won't clean up your mess.
He disappeared into the night, leaving the Edgerunners in uneasy silence.
---
Lucy's POV
Lucy watched the stranger vanish, her thoughts racing.
Lucy: Who is he? those moves is inhuman he is wearing sandevistan? And i why i can't scan him or track him... To much unknown
Rebecca's voice broke her focus.
Rebecca: "Man, I hope we run into that ninja again. I owe him a beating.
Lucy didn't respond. She couldn't shake the feeling that their paths would cross again.
