Cyberpunk Edgerunner: CyberReaper

Chapter 4: Chapter 4: The Hunt Continues

The city never slept, its pulse a cacophony of neon lights, thundering basslines, and the ever-present hum of corporate machinery. Diablo moved through the shadows, his Nano armor seamlessly integrating him into the chaos. His mission was far from over. While the corporate bigwig's death was the evening's main course, his appetizer had yet to be served—a rogue netrunner group known as Black Mantle, infamous for sabotaging smaller factions.

Diablo stood atop a ruined skyscraper overlooking their hideout: a decrepit warehouse with makeshift fortifications and an array of hacked drones patrolling the perimeter. His HUD painted the layout of the area in vivid detail. He counted at least fifteen armed guards, all cybernetically enhanced, guarding the entry points.

Diablo: Mhh fifteen armed guards i see, hey amaterasu are you ready...

The blade at his side glowed crimson red as if answering the question.

Warehouse Infiltration

As the rain poured harder, Diablo scaled the adjacent building. He leapt from rooftop to rooftop, his Ackerman bloodline and the template of Yoriichi Tsugikuni granting him inhuman balance. Reaching the warehouse's roof, he crouched by a skylight.

Peering inside, he saw the gang's leader—a wiry man with glowing cybernetic eyes—barking orders at his crew. Diablo tapped into their network, his suit's advanced tech granting him silent access to their systems. Through the feed, he overheard their plan to hijack a corporate transport carrying high-grade cyberware.

Diablo: hijacking a corporate carrying a high grade cyberware? I wonder if it is a military grade well let find out..

He activated his stealth system, his form blending into the darkness. Dropping silently into the warehouse, he moved like a ghost, taking down guards one by one. Each strike was clean and precise, his katana cutting through armor and flesh like butter.

The first guard fell with a muted gurgle as Diablo's blade severed his throat. The second didn't even have time to draw his weapon before Diablo drove his blade through his chest.

The remaining guards were alerted to his presence when a cyberhound—a mechanical monstrosity armed with sharp claws and razor fangs—detected him.

Cyberhound: "Intruder detected. Engaging hostile."

It lunged at him, but Diablo sidestepped with superhuman speed, landing a devastating upward slash that cleaved the machine in two. Sparks flew as the hound's metallic carcass hit the ground.

Diablo: Damm..

The Showdown

The gang leader, now aware of the attack, activated an alarm. Red lights bathed the warehouse as automated turrets descended from the ceiling. Diablo's Spider-Sense flared, alerting him to the incoming danger.

He flipped backward, avoiding a hail of bullets, and darted between cover with lightning speed. In one fluid motion, he launched a web-like strand from his suit, jamming the turret's targeting system.

Leader: "Who the hell are you?! Do you know who you're messing with?!"

Diablo emerged from the shadows, his katana glowing faintly.

Diablo: "No names. Just business."

The leader drew a pair of cybernetic blades, their edges crackling with energy.

Leader: "You think you can take me? I've ripped apart solos twice your size!"

Diablo didn't reply. Instead,

Sun Breathing, Fifth Form: Setting Sun Transformation.

In a blur, he dashed forward, his katana slicing through one of the leader's blades. The gang leader countered with a wild swing, but Diablo ducked under it, retaliating with a spinning slash that disarmed him entirely—literally.

Leader: "No—wait! Please, I can pay—"

Diablo: All of that bark now you want mercy sigh~

Leader: Wai—

With a swift motion, Diablo decapitated the man. His body crumpled to the floor, lifeless.

Aftermath

The warehouse was silent now, the only sound the faint hum of Diablo's suit. He tapped into the gang's network, extracting all their data on future targets.

Diablo: Let's see who's next on the list, mh? Look like the cyberware they talking is bleh a chrome Di-k? Wtf... Sigh~

As the data uploaded to his HUD, a familiar voice echoed through his comms.

Unknown Client: "Impressive work, Diablo. The payment's been sent. I assume you found the files I requested?"

Diablo: "I did. They'll be uploaded to you in five minutes. But next time, don't leave out details about a cyberhound."

Unknown Client: "Consider it a test of your skills. You passed with flying colors."

Diablo: Yeah yeah you shit heads.

He severed the connection, stepping out into the rain. The moon hung high above Night City, its pale light casting an eerie glow over the blood-soaked ground. Diablo stared at it for a moment, a rare flicker of peace crossing his mind.

Diablo: Well look like this the end for tonight gigs..

With a faint hum, his suit's systems activated, and he vanished into the darkness
