Crash Landed in Fairy Tail

Chapter 11: A Request

In the early hours of the day, the morning light filtered into the room through the window.

Gildarts was sprawled over the bed haphazardly, sleeping away the weariness from yesterday's night.

As time passed and the day got brighter, Gildarts strirred awake.

"Mngh…Urgh!" He groaned as he woke up, feeling his head pounding. His head throbbed with the unmistakable signs of a hangover.

Rubbing his temples, Gildarts slowly sat up, squinting at the light. "Ugh, why did I drink so much last night?"

*Splash!*

He stumbled to his feet and splashed some cold water on his face, the chill temporarily soothing his pain. "This headache is killing me..." he muttered to himself.

Gildarts then washed up before throwing on his clothes and going down.

"Thud!"

The door closed behind him as he left.

The inn's common room was much quieter compared to the previous night, with only a few customers scattered about, enjoying their morning meals.

However, the smell of breakfast did little to improve Gildarts mood, his head still ringing from the hangover.

Behind the counter, Oars was wiping down some mugs, his burly form filling the small space behind the bar.

Gildarts waved at him, slowly approaching. "Morning Oars... got anything that could help me?" he asked, his voice hoarse.

Oars glanced over at him, a smirk tugging at his lips. "HAH! It seems like someone had a bit too much fun last night!" he chuckled before telling him to take a seat.

After tinkering around the counter for a bit, he sets down a small cup full of a fizzing liquid in front of him. "Here, this will help, Drink up. It's a special concotion that helps with hangovers!"

"Thanks…" Gildarts muttered, chugging down the drink with a swing. As he swallowed, his face scrunched up and turned green.

"YUCK!! What the hell is this shit!?" Gildarts spat in disgust.

"This is DISGUSTING!!" He shouted as he coughed.

"AHAHAHA!!" Oars laughed out loud as he slapped down on the counter, with tears in his eyes.

Gone was his sleepiness along with his hangover, only the digusting taste of the drink remained.

While gildarts was adjusting his bearings while drinking some water, he hears a bunch of noise from outside the the inn.

Focusing his hearing, he recognized the shufling and rustling of people moving around, probably the adventures and soldiers by the sound of it.

Raising a brow, he glances at Oars and ask's softly, "Do you know what all that's about?"

Oars quietens down and looks at him, "I've heard some troubling news..."

Gildarts sits up and asks, "What happened?"

Oars inched closer and muttered with full seriousness, "Bandits."

Gildarts eyes narrows at that.

"There had been sightings of them around the kingdom for the past three months, making small moves here and there. It began with robbing some traveling merchant, then they started ambushing and raiding villages."

"I've just got word that a small village, some distance away from here, was attacked recently." Oars continued.

"So far, only certain people are aware of it and the villagers are clueless about it. We don't want them to panic, so we have kept the news hushed!"

"I see..." Gildarts replied absentmindedly. Bandits, huh? Might be a problem if they decide to get a little too close. He'd have to keep an eye on that.

"Anyway! Look out after yourself if you're leaving the village." Oars exclaims, the tension leaving the room.

"Sure! Thank's for the heads up!" Gildarts finishes his cup of water before getting up to leave.

He decided it was about time he meet up with Aldo, who had been a no show the previous day. Leaving the inn, he decided to go to the town hall where he could ask around for Aldo.

Gildarts looked around as he walked down the now familiar street, that was bustling with activity. Soon, he reached the center of the village where the town hall was located.

Walking into the place, he came across the familiar reception once again. Looking around, he see's a familiar figure around the mission board. Surprisingly, It was who he was looking for.

He found Aldo chatting with a blacksmith.

He then strolled up towards him. Aldo, mid-conversation with the blacksmith, caught sight of him and immediately broke into a broad grin.

"Mr. Gildarts! What brings you here so early in the morning?" Aldo greeted cheerfully.

Gildarts smiled, "Good morning, Aldo! I've been looking for you. Thought we were supposed to meet up yesterday but you were nowhere to be seen."

Aldo's face turned sheepish as he rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah, about that... sorry for being a no show. The mayor had sent me on an urgent task."

Leaning in, Aldo whispered. "Apparently, there has been rumors of bandit activity in the northern pass. They wanted me to check it out."

'Bandits again?' Gildarts' became serious, his gaze narrowing. "What did you find?"

Aldo shifted on his feet and looked around before leaning in once more, "It's not good, there's definitely something going on. We found some empty and looted caravan's along the pass, clearly attacked and ransacked..."

Gildarts frowned, crossing his arms. "If that's the case, then things are gonna get busy around here. Did you report this to the village head?"

"Yeah, I've already briefed the village head and the other elders about the situation yesterday itself! Even though there isn't any sign of imminent threat, we will begin preparing... just in case." Aldo replied with determination.

"I see, that's good." gildarts nodded in agreement.

As the conversation ended, a young receptionist walked up towards gildarts.

"Excuse me, are you Mr. Gildarts?"

"Yes, that's me."

"Hello, the village head wants to see you." the young woman said.

Gildarts raised an eyebrow and looked at Aldo who shook his head in confusion. "Oh, is that so? Well then, lead the way miss."

"Please, follow me!" The young woman led gildarts up to the village head's office.

Gildarts walked up the stairs that led to the higher floors to meet the village head, who he had only seen when he had first arrived here.

The receptionist walked over and knocked on the doors, "Sir, your guest is here!"

"Come in." a tired voice called out from the office.

Inside the village head's office, the atmosphere was much more formal. Aldo's uncle, the village head Doma, sat behind a large desk, brooding over some papers when Gildarts walked in.

"Ah, Gildarts. I'm glad that you are here, I was waiting for you!" Doma said with relief, standing up to greet him.

"I heard you wanted to talk to me?" Gildarts replied, as he took a seat.

Doma nodded, his expression serious. "Yes. There is something important we need to discuss regarding the village. It concerns both the safety of our people and a request that I would like you to consider."

Gildarts sits up to face Doma, "... I'm listening."

The past few days, which had been so peaceful, was about to change.
