Chapter 10: Chapter 10: The Grip of the Forgotten Sea Creature
The water around MC grew colder as something with immense strength dragged him deeper into the darkness. He struggled, thrashing with all his might, but the grip was too strong.
"Damn it! What is this?!" MC thought in panic.
From within the dark depths, a massive figure began to emerge—a silhouette with glowing blue eyes. Its body was covered in silver scales, its tail long like a sea dragon, and it had a pair of clawed arms that held MC in an iron grip.
Looking up, MC saw Nami diving towards him with a knife in hand.
"MC! I'm coming!"
Nami swiftly slashed at the creature's claw, trying to loosen its grip. However, sensing the threat, the creature momentarily released MC and swung its tail. Nami was sent hurtling backward!
Bubbles escaped her mouth as her body slammed against the cavern wall.
"NAMIII!"
Fueled by rage, MC tried to swim as fast as possible, but the creature attacked again. This time, MC noticed something strange—a glowing rune on its chest.
"What…? This isn't just a regular monster…"
The creature growled in an ancient language—yet somehow, MC could understand it.
"The chosen one… has finally arrived…"
MC froze.
What does that mean?
But the creature didn't give him time to think. In an instant, it opened its massive jaws, aiming to swallow him whole.
No! I have to fight!
Suddenly, an instinctive force surged within MC. Without warning…
His hand began to burn.
He looked at his palm, now glowing with a faint golden light.
This power… I've felt this before…
Following his instincts, MC swung his hand toward the creature—and miraculously, a blast of energy erupted from his palm!
BOOM!
The attack struck the creature's chest, hitting the glowing rune directly. It roared in pain, its body trembling as if struggling to withstand the force.
From above, Nami saw her chance. Without hesitation, she dived back down and, with a swift strike, stabbed her knife straight into the creature's eye!
The monster convulsed violently, releasing MC completely before retreating into the dark depths of the underwater cave.
MC and Nami quickly swam to the surface, gasping for air as they emerged.
"Damn… what the hell was that?!" MC coughed, gripping onto a nearby rock.
Nami, also panting, gave him a serious look. "I was about to ask you the same thing."
For a moment, they both remained silent, trying to process what had just happened.
MC hadn't just fought an ordinary sea creature… something much bigger was at play.
And more importantly—why could he understand the creature's words? And what was that strange power that awakened in his hand?
MC stared at his palm, now back to normal.
The answers to these mysteries were only just beginning.
