Chapter 9: PART-9
Today dua's eyes opened early in the morning . She reached for her phone, squinting at the screen to see it was just 4 AM. Determined, she rose from her bed and softly called out to Irha, "Irha, wake up. Let's pray Fajr together." But Irha, deeply immersed in sleep, turned over and drifted back into her dreams.
Dua sighed but didn't push further. She headed to the bathroom, the cool water of her wudu refreshing her senses. Stepping out, she changed into fresh clothes and carefully took out her prayer mat from her bag. As she stood in prayer, the tranquility of the early hours enveloped her, bringing a sense of peace and connection.
After her prayer, she opened her phone to read the Qur'an. The verses flowed smoothly, filling her heart with serenity. Glancing at the clock, she realized it was already 5:30. She whispered a heartfelt dua, carefully folded her prayer mat, and put it away.
Dua felt a rare energy from waking up early. She decided to make breakfast, thinking, "Irha seems so exhausted. I'll let her rest a bit longer." The thought of surprising her friend with a warm breakfast brought a smile to her face, and she moved to the kitchen, ready to start the day on a nurturing note.
As Dua descended the stairs, she noticed Jimin and Jungkook entering from outside. They saw her too, dressed in her abaya, which she often wore during prayer.
Both of them stared at her intently, and she glanced down at herself, then back at them, and back at herself again before saying, "Do I look like a joker or something?"
They both burst into laughter, making her frown. "Why are you laughing?" she asked, puzzled.
"Where are you going dressed like that so early in the morning?" Jungkook teased.
Dua, maintaining her calm, replied, "I wear this for prayer. I like it."
Jungkook and Jimin fell silent, exchanging glances. Jungkook then asked, "Prayer? You?"
"Why, am I not allowed to pray?" Dua responded, a hint of annoyance in her voice.
Jimin chimed in, "Are you Muslim?"
Dua looked at them incredulously. "Wow, you couldn't tell from my name? What kind of people are you? Jungkook, I get it, you're peculiar, but Jimin? I expected better from you."
Jimin scratched his head, looking embarrassed. "Oh, your name is Dua. Sorry, I didn't realize."
Jungkook shot Dua a sideways glance and said, "If you call me peculiar again..."
Dua cut him off, challenging, "Or what? What will you do? Actually, you owe me an apology for what you said about me praying."
Jungkook looked confused, "What did I say?"
"That I can't pray. What did you mean by that?" Dua demanded, her eyes flashing with irritation.
Jungkook hesitated, then smirked, "No, I didn't mean that. So-," he started, but then stopped himself. "No, forget it, I'm not apologizing."
Dua crossed her arms, "Oh, really? You should apologize."
Jungkook, with a smirk still on his face, walked away,
Dua stood there, watching him walk away, her gaze lingering on his retreating figure. Jimin, too, was heading in the same direction, and as Dua observed him, she made faces-subtle, almost unnoticeable expressions of frustration and resignation. Finally, she muttered to herself, "Let it go," before turning on her heel and heading to the kitchen.
Once inside, she grabbed a pan and filled it with a little water, placing it on the stove. Her eyes darted around the kitchen as she searched for something, her mind preoccupied. Just then, Jungkook entered the kitchen to get some water. His eyes landed on Dua, and he couldn't tear them away. He watched her intently, almost mesmerized, while she remained oblivious, focused on her task.
Suddenly, a loud crash shattered the silence-a plate had slipped from Dua's hands and fallen to the floor. Startled, Jungkook quickly opened the fridge and pretended to search for something, trying to act casual as if he hadn't been watching her. Dua glanced at Jungkook, then at the broken plate on the floor, a wave of panic washing over her.
"I'm sorry, it slipped by mistake," she stammered, her voice trembling as she crouched down to gather the shattered pieces. The plate was not just broken; it was an expensive one, and her heart sank further as she realized the cost of her mistake.
"I was just trying to find the pasta," she explained, her voice a mixture of nervousness and embarrassment. She stood up with the broken pieces in her hands, feeling even smaller under Jungkook's gaze.
Jungkook, trying to ease the tension, pointed towards the upper cabinet and said, "The pasta? It's in the top drawer over there."
Dua followed his gesture, her eyes landing on the cabinet he mentioned. "Thank you," she whispered, grateful but still flustered.
Dua reached up to grab the pasta, stretching as far as she could, but she just couldn't reach it. Frustration began to creep in, when suddenly, she heard a voice from behind her.
"Hold on, let me help," Jungkook said, stepping closer. Startled, Dua turned around to face him, her heart skipping a beat. Jungkook reached over her, his arm brushing against hers as he effortlessly grabbed the pasta. It was the first time she had seen him so close, and the proximity made her painfully aware of the rapid beating of her own heart. She could hear his heartbeat too, quick and strong, which made the moment even more intense. The world seemed to pause for a moment, as if they were the only two people in it.
Jungkook stepped back slightly, holding the pasta out to her with a playful smile. "Here you go. Now, say thank you."
Dua hesitated, the words almost slipping out, but then she caught herself. "Thank you..." she started, but then, with a sudden resolve, added, "No, wait. I'm not going to say it," and turned to walk away, leaving Jungkook standing there, slightly confused.
Not one to give up easily, Jungkook followed her, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Hey, I helped you! You owe me a thank you."
Dua stopped and spun around, her eyes narrowing playfully. "Well, it's your fault for putting the pasta so high up in the first place! You should be the one saying sorry to me for that."
Jungkook was taken aback by her unexpected response, his mouth falling open slightly. For a moment, he just stared at her, wondering where she came up with such a twisted logic. "Where do you get these strange ideas?" he asked, genuinely curious but amused.
Dua smirked, a spark of defiance in her eyes. "When I had peculiar people like you around, what else can I possibly think of?"
Jungkook's voice was edged with irritation as he said, "I'm telling you for the last time, stop calling me peculiar."
Dua said - "Then stop doing peculiar things, and maybe I'll stop calling you that."
Jungkook's patience was clearly running thin. He raised his finger in a warning, his eyes narrowing slightly. "If you call me peculiar one more time..."
Before he could finish, Dua raising her finger to meet his in midair. She looked straight into his eyes, a challenging glint in her gaze. "And what will you do then, huh?" she asked, her voice dripping with playful defiance.
For a few intense moments, they stood like that, their fingers inches apart, locked in a silent standoff.
Just then, a voice cut through the heavy silence. "Are you two done, or should I say something now?"
Startled, they both turned to see V and Irha standing in the doorway, watching them with amused expressions.
Dua quickly dropped her hand, her face flushing with sudden embarrassment. She turned away, and focused on pouring the pasta into the bowl,
V and irha entered the kitchen and spotted Jungkook. V said - "I've been looking for you everywhere, and here you are, arguing with poor Dua in the kitchen," he remarked with a playful smirk.
Jungkook raised an eyebrow, his voice low and slightly challenging. "Poor Dua, you say?"
V chuckled, turning his gaze toward Dua with a teasing glint in his eyes. "Yes, poor Dua. he's been like this since childhood, always picking fights with everyone," he teased,
V, sensing the shift in mood, smoothly changed the subject. "By the way, what was that delicious smell? It was irresistible."
Dua, grateful for the distraction, smiled softly. "Oh, that's the white sauce I'm making. I was thinking of making white sauce pasta today."
V's eyes lit up with interest. "White sauce pasta? Sounds amazing."
Dua glanced at V and asked softly, "Did you have breakfast yet?"
V shook his head with a playful grin. "No, not yet. It's Sunday, after all. I thought I'd join these idiots for breakfast today."
Irha said - "Do you need any help?" she asked softly, watching Dua move around with focused determination.
Dua looked up, offering a gentle smile. "No, it's okay. I've got it covered. The pasta's already boiled; I just need to mix everything together now."
Irha nodded, sensing the subtle mix of pride and exhaustion in Dua's voice. "Alright," she said warmly. "I'll go set the table, then."
Dua's smile grew a little wider, gratitude shining in her eyes. "Okay, you go ahead. I'll be there in a minute."
Once they left, Dua carefully mixed the pasta, making sure it was just right, and then poured it into a bowl. With the bowl in hand, she headed outside where Jimin, Jungkook, V, and Irha were waiting for her.
As she placed the bowl on the table, Jimin couldn't help but comment, "It smells amazing."
"Thank you," Dua replied with a warm smile. She served Jimin first, then went around the table, serving each of them in turn. Finally, she filled her own plate and sat down at the table, ready to enjoy the meal with everyone.
Jimin looked at the pasta and remarked, "Dua, white sauce pasta is Jungkook's favorite." Dua glanced at Jimin, then at Jungkook, before quickly lowering her eyes,
Jimin nudged Jungkook with a grin, "Go on, have a bite and tell us how it is."
Dua watched anxiously as Jungkook took a bite, convinced he would say something critical. But to her surprise, Jungkook looked up and said, "It's really tasty."
Dua was so shocked that she couldn't hide it, her eyes widening as she met his gaze. "Thank you," she managed to say, still processing his unexpected compliment.
V chimed in, "This is seriously delicious," while Irha added, "Yes, really good!"
Dua's heart swelled with happiness, and a beautiful smile spread across her face, lighting up her entire expression. Jungkook noticed her smiling at everyone, clearly pleased with their reactions. He couldn't help but steal a glance at her, and seeing her so happy, he looked down at his own plate, a soft smile playing on his lips.
V noticed Dua's outfit and asked, "Were you planning to go somewhere?"
Dua shook her head, "No, why?"
V pointed at her clothes, "Then what's with your outfit?"
Dua smiled softly, "Oh, this? I wear it when I pray. It just feels right to me."
V nodded, understanding, "Ah, makes sense."
Suddenly, something seemed to dawn on Dua. She turned to Jimin, her curiosity piqued. "Where did you all go so early this morning?"
Jimin exchanged a quick glance with Jungkook before answering, "We went to pray as well."
At that, Irha almost dropped her fork, shock flashing across her face, while Dua froze, her hand halting mid-air. Irha, still in disbelief, asked, "Wait, what? You went to pray?"
Jimin nodded, his expression serious, "Yes, we went to pray."
Dua's eyes widened as she processed his words. "Are you guys… Muslim?"
Jungkook, without missing a beat, replied firmly, "Yes, we are. Why wouldn't we be?"
Dua quickly backtracked, "No, I didn't mean it like that. It's just… you're not joking, right?"
V shook his head with a slight smile, "No, we're not joking. We really are Muslim." He then stood up, a playful glint in his eyes, and introduced himself, "Hi, I'm Hamza" gesturing toward Jungkook, "This is Mr. Daud," and then pointing to Jimin, "And this is Mr. Arhaan. Nice to meet you all."
Dua felt her breath catch in her throat, her mind spinning. She looked at Irha, who was equally confused, both of them trying to wrap their heads around this sudden revelation.
Noticing their stunned silence, Jungkook spoke up with a gentle smile, "Now that everything's clear, how about you continue eating? The food's getting cold."
Still in shock, Dua and Irha slowly resumed their meal, their thoughts racing. Irha, unable to hold back her disbelief, glanced at the three of them and asked, "You're really not kidding, right?"
Jimin immediately responded, "Not everyone is as mischievous as you, Irha."
Irha narrowed her eyes at him, stammering in frustration, "You… you… I'm definitely going to "
Dua quickly interjected, "Alright, that's enough!"
V, watching the exchange, couldn't help but chuckle,
As they finished eating, Jimin looked at Dua with a warm smile and said, "Dua, thank you for this delicious pasta today."
V nodded in agreement, adding, "Yes, thanks a lot."
Jungkook, who rarely spoke up, looked at her with a sincere expression and said, "Thank you."
Irha, still savoring the flavors, chimed in, "It was really amazing, Dua. You know, she can make all kinds of pasta!"
Jimin's eyes lit up with interest as he glanced around the group, a playful smile forming on his lips. "If we get to try more of your cooking, that would be great!"
Dua couldn't help but smile at their enthusiasm. "Alright then, from now on, I'll take care of breakfast. How does that sound?"
"Perfect!" Jimin replied with excitement, his eyes twinkling.
With that, everyone began picking up their plates, ready to take them to the kitchen. But before they could start washing up, Dua quickly interjected, "Oh, no, leave it. I'll take care of the dishes."
Irha nodded, trying to help, "Yeah, we can handle it."
But Jimin shook his head, a hint of determination in his voice. "No, you two should relax. We'll do it. What's the harm if everyone washes their own plate? It's only fair—one person shouldn't have to do all the work."
Dua hesitated, her heart touched by their consideration, before she finally nodded, "Alright, if you're sure."
And so, they all headed to the sink, washing their own plates, sharing small smiles and light banter as they worked together.
Everyone settled onto the sofa, the atmosphere relaxed. V looked around and asked, "So, what's the plan for today?"
"Plan?" Dua repeated, a bit puzzled.
V grinned, "Yeah, it's Sunday. Let's go somewhere."
But before anyone could respond, Jungkook, who was lounging comfortably, teased, "You were invited for food. You've eaten, now just sit quietly."
V wasn't having it. He playfully grabbed Jungkook's ear and twisted it slightly. "Lately, you've been talking a bit too much, huh?" he teased.
Jungkook winced, though his eyes sparkled with amusement. "Alright, alright! Don't take it so seriously. Now let go of my ear!"
Jimin, watching the playful banter, chimed in, "Actually, that's a good idea. These guys haven't gone out since they got here."
V nodded, shooting a teasing glance at Jungkook. "Yeah, especially with boring people like him around."
Jungkook's eyes widened in a mock offense. "Boring? Me? Jimin hyung who always has us running errands. 'Jungkook, do this. Jungkook, do that.' That's all you ever say!"
Jimin couldn't hold back a laugh. "Alright, alright. Let's do something fun today. Let's go out."
V suddenly perked up and said, "How about we go car riding today?"
Jimin's face lit up. "That's a great idea!"
Irha, though a bit skeptical at first, asked, "You mean riding on these roads?"
V shook his head, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "No, there's a special place nearby just for car riding. They provide the cars, and they take care of everything."
Irha's eyes sparkled with excitement. "I'm so excited! I love riding!"
Jungkook, feeling the growing enthusiasm, stood up and said, "Alright, everyone, let's get ready."
With that, they all headed to their rooms to change, the anticipation building. After about half an hour, they regrouped, each of them ready for the adventure that awaited them. The excitement was palpable as they left the house, eager to enjoy the day ahead.
They arrived at the place and noticed that they were handing out entry cards at the entrance. Everyone took their cards and started walking inside. Dua, however, paused as she examined her card closely, noticing the price listed on the back.
She suddenly stopped in her tracks. "Wait," she said, her voice laced with concern.
The others turned around, curious. "What's wrong?" they asked in unison.
Dua held up her card and pointed to the price. "Did we really pay this much just to come here?"
Irha, following Dua's lead, checked her own card. "What?" she said, her voice filled with disbelief. "Did we really spend this much just for this?"
Seeing their concern, the three boys couldn't help but smile, but Dua shook her head, her expression serious. "No, we can't do this. It's too much."
Irha nodded in agreement, the worry evident on her face. "Yeah, we can't just waste so much money like this."
Jimin, trying to ease their minds, stepped closer and said, "Don't worry, no money is being wasted. We wanted to treat you guys, so just enjoy it."
But Dua was still hesitant. "I don't know… it just doesn't feel right."
Jungkook, sensing her reluctance, gently said, "Alright, I get it. But we're already here. Let's enjoy today, and next time, we'll plan something different. Now, come on inside."
Dua hesitated for a moment then. She nodded and walked inside with the rest of them.
They soon reached the cars, and Jimin asked, "Do you guys know how to drive?"
Irha, her excitement returning, nodded eagerly. "Yes, I can drive!"
Jimin grinned, "Alright then."
Dua and Irha got into one car together, Jungkook took another, Jimin chose one for himself, and V hopped into the last one.
Everyone climbed into their cars, buzzing with excitement. Jimin glanced around and asked, "Are you ready?"
In unison, they all replied, "Ready!"
"Let's go!" Jimin shouted, and with that, the engines roared to life. Irha, catching on to the thrill, asked nervously, "Wait, is this a race?"
V, with a playful smirk, answered, "Of course."
Irha's apprehension turned into excitement. "Okay!"
Jimin signaled, "Let's go!" and all the cars sped off. Jimin's car led the pack, while Irha's trailed behind. They completed a full round, with Jimin driving the fastest. When they reached the end, everyone parked and stepped out.
V, still buzzing with energy, said, "Let's drive more. I want to have even more fun."
Dua, eyes sparkling with excitement, approached Jimin and asked, "If you don't mind, could I join you in your car? I love high speeds. Please, don't say no."
Jimin, smiling warmly, responded, "Of course. Hop in!"
Dua beamed and eagerly climbed into the car. Jungkook watched her, a mixture of curiosity and amusement in his eyes, as he prepared his own vehicle. He then focused on his steering wheel, readying himself for the next round.
Jimin called out, "Let's go!" and the cars roared back to life. Jungkook quickly shifted into high gear, his car zooming ahead of the others. V and Jimin watched in awe as Jungkook's car surged forward.
V, impressed, exclaimed, "Wow, look at Jungkook! That speed is incredible!"
After completing another round, everyone returned and parked. As they got out, Jimin congratulated Jungkook, "Wow, Jungkook! You drove amazingly fast!"
Jungkook, catching Dua's gaze and then turning to Jimin, said, "Thanks."
Dua, her face glowing with enthusiasm, thanked Jimin, "Thank you so much. I had a fantastic time!"
Irha, still full of excitement, asked eagerly, "Can we do another round, please? I'm really enjoying the drive."
Jimin said - let's go
Jungkook who was waiting for Dua to join him in his car for one more round. "Alright, let's go for another round.
Dua shook her head and said, "You guys go ahead. I'll stay here for a bit."
Everyone agreed and climbed back into their cars. Jungkook settled into his seat, his hands gripping the steering wheel, and started the engine. From inside the car, he watched Dua, who was still on the seats in ground..
After another thrilling round, everyone parked their cars and gathered around Dua. V said, "You all stay here. I'm going to get something to eat."
Irha, still glowing with excitement, turned to Jimin and Jungkook. "Today was incredible! I've never had so much fun before. Thank you both so much!" Her face was radiant as she grabbed Dua's hand. "You know, driving was such a blast. Dua, you should definitely learn to drive. Then we can race together!"
Dua's eyes sparkled with enthusiasm. "I'm absolutely going to learn how to drive. I'll be speeding and drifting just like you guys. It sounds like so much fun!"
Irha squeezed Dua's hand excitedly. "Drifting is amazing, especially when you're actually in the car doing it. It's exhilarating, and watching it from outside is even more thrilling. Insha'Allah, one day I'll be drifting with you."
As Dua and Irha chatted animatedly, their excitement was so palpable that Jimin and Jungkook couldn't help but overhear.
V returned with packets of chips and some cold drinks, distributing them to everyone. They all began munching and sipping as they enjoyed the lively K-pop songs playing on the large screen in front of them. The atmosphere was relaxed and cheerful as they savored their snacks.
Once everyone had finished eating, Jungkook, his eyes gleaming with excitement, announced, "I'm going for one more round. Is anyone coming with me?"
Irha eagerly said, "I'll go!"
V, looking tired, shook his head. "Not me. I'm exhausted."
Jimin, feeling adventurous, added, "I'll join you."
Jungkook nodded, "Alright!" and he and Irha headed to the cars. Dua, Jimin, and V watched as the two drove off.
Jungkook, with a mischievous smirk, glanced at Dua before starting his car. The engine roared to life, and he quickly accelerated to full speed. With a swift turn of the steering wheel, he made the car spin in a perfect, exhilarating drift. The car spun in a tight circle, tires screeching, as Jungkook expertly controlled the motion.
Dua, mesmerized, jumped from her seat, her eyes wide with amazement. Jimin and V also watched in awe. Irha, captivated by the spectacle, paused her own car to take in the thrilling display.
Jungkook, catching Dua's amazed expression through his rearview mirror, grinned broadly. He then straightened out the car and sped back to their spot, bringing it to a smooth stop. Irha, following closely behind, parked her car and joined the group.
Jimin, still in awe, asked, "Jungkook, was that really your first time doing this? How did you manage to pull it off so perfectly?"
V, equally impressed, added, "Yeah, Jungkook, that was seriously amazing. How did you do it?"
Dua, her eyes wide with shock and admiration, couldn't tear her gaze away from Jungkook. He simply shrugged and replied nonchalantly, "I just gave it a try."
Irha chimed in, her voice full of excitement, "But it wasn't just good, it was incredible!"
Dua, still processing what she had just witnessed, asked, "You really did that for the first time?"
Jungkook smirked, a playful glint in his eyes. "Yeah... maybe."
Dua's astonishment deepened, her mind spinning with disbelief. How could someone be so effortlessly skilled?
Jungkook, sensing her shock, glanced at her, his expression proud and confident. "So, shall we head out now?" he asked, breaking the momentary silence.
Jimin nodded, "Yeah, let's go." But Dua was still caught up in the awe of what she had just seen, her eyes fixed on Jungkook as if trying to figure him out.
As they all started to leave, Jungkook turned back once more, catching Dua's lingering gaze. With a small, satisfied smile tugging at the corner of his lips, he walked on, the air around him radiating with a quiet pride.
They exited the area,
