"She is stable for now," Dr. Ryez walked beside me as we approached the unconscious patient, "But her amnesia is real. There are no signs of any brain damage or mental trauma. Just a blank mind."

"I see. So, it's not a prank or some crazy plot," I said as my eyes fell on the unconscious beauty before me. And yup, she looks almost exactly like Jean as if she is a clone of hers... Wait a minute! Jean's clone... "Madelyne Pryor!" What the hell is she doing here? Did that Mister Sinister fucker send her here to mess things up in Paradise?

"You know her?" Ryez asked.

The System's screen appeared before my eyes...

"Yeah, a little bit," I said as I pressed my palm on the ground, using my Cosmic Awareness skill to scan the island. I need to find out if there is an intruder among us. There might be one of Mr. Sinister's Marauders lurking around... "Have you seen anyone else like her showing up recently?"

"Not really. She was found alone by one of our scout teams yesterday morning," Ryez shook his head. "It seems like she just washed ashore from somewhere."

Hmmm. My Cosmic Awareness skill cannot detect anything weird on the island at the moment. But knowing that insane fucker, he must be involved in this shit, or could it be that she is one of the clones who managed to escape that facility? That would explain his blank mind. "Keep an eye on her and monitor her condition closely. Let me know when she wakes up. Meanwhile, I'll take a walk around."

I created a shield around her without him noticing. If someone tries to do something to her or her power goes berserk, it will hold on for a certain amount of time.

"Sure thing, sir," Ryez nodded as I turned away and exited the medical bay.

[Outside]

Haaa... Paradise Island. No one can say that it's just an island, but a giant technologically advanced country, if I say so myself. Everything here is state-of-the-art and fully equipped with all sorts of amenities and facilities. From schools, hospitals, military bases, and research centers to entertainment and residential areas. It's truly a paradise for mutants and heroes alike.

My eyes fell on Rogue standing nearby as she talked with Kitty and Jubilee. Hmmm, there she is. I walked towards them while waving my hand. "Hey ladies, what's up?"

"Oh, hey, Brian," Jubilee rushed over and hugged me. "What's up?" I don't know why, but she always hugs me whenever she sees me. I gave a light pat on her back.

"Nothing much," I smiled and glanced at Rogue, "Just checking up on our new guest."

"Oh, her. You have no idea how dangerous she was when she was awake," Jubilee shivered as she let go of me. "She kept attacking everyone and destroying everything until Volcana knocked her out."

"Really now?" I raised my brows as Rogue nodded, "That sounds serious."

"Yeah, she's super strong," She added.

"Well, no worries. Now that I am here, I will take care of her. Oh, by the way, what are you two doing outside the class?" I checked my watch and it's 11 am. They should be in class right now.

"We were taking Kitty for some fresh air," Jubilee pointed at the timid brunette. "She wasn't feeling well today."

"Is that so?" I looked at Kitty, who looked perfectly fine. "Are you okay, Kitty?"

"Yes, sir," She nodded, "It's nothing serious."

Hmmm. "Go home and rest then. Your health comes first, okay?" I patted her shoulder. "Or, maybe you can do a secret job for me, well if you two are not busy."

Jubilee's eyes lit up, "Secret job? What is it?"

"Yeah, I need someone to look around... You know, the kind of job spies do," I whispered. "Can you two handle it?"

"Spying? Are we spying on someone?" Jubilee gasped. "Who?"

"Someone suspicious. Maybe they are hiding on the island or watching us from afar," I shrugged.

"Done..." She showed me a thumbs-up with a cheeky grin. "Leave it to us, Brian. We won't disappoint you."

"What about you, Kitty?" I glanced toward her.

"Count me in. I am suddenly feeling fine," She nodded.

Good. These two girls are capable enough to sniff out anything weird around the island. Plus, with Kitty's power, she could escape through more or less any place, and add Jubilee's explosive power, they are a deadly duo. We should be able to hear the sound of explosions if things go wrong. "Okay then. Keep your eyes open. Make a note or take photos of the people who are new and suspicious. Report me back by the end of the week."

"Yayyyy! Our first spy mission!" Jubilee jumped with joy.

"Sush! Keep it down. You want everyone to hear," Kitty covered Jubilee's mouth with her hands.

"Sorryyyyy," She muffled as I chuckled.

After a little chat, they ran off. I planted my cosmic energy on them, just in case...

These two are adorable. Anyway, now that I assigned them a task...

"You wanna grab some lunch?" I asked Rogue as she nodded with a smile.

"Sure, let's go."

We headed to a nearby restaurant.

[Vickey's Food Corner]

"Here we are," I pushed the door and Rogue walked inside. Vickey is one of our cooks on the island, and her food is delicious. She used to run a diner back in the other world before the merge. She is a metahuman, who has been hiding her powers for years until the merge and establishment of this island. So, we welcomed her to Paradise Island.

"Table for two please," Rogue told the waitress as she led us to a table near the window.

We sat down and placed our order.

"So, how are you doing?" I asked her as she stretched her arms.

"Pretty good. Classes are fun, and the training is challenging. Thanks to you, I can now control my power," She nodded. "And you?"

"You already know... Haaa... After countless nights of work, when I got to enjoy a nice vacation, a new guest popped up," I sighed. "I gotta investigate and make sure she doesn't cause trouble."

"Understandable," She sipped on her water. "Maybe she is harmless and just lost her memories."

"We will know in the coming days," I replied. I noticed that she was still wearing her full body-covered clothes and her gloves. "Take off your gloves."

She hesitated for a moment. I guess old trauma doesn't go away that easily. Her power might be stable, but the risk...

"It's okay. Take off your gloves," I repeated as she did what I said. Her bare hands rested on the table as I reached out and held them. Humm... No power drain. She is controlling it nicely. "See? All good."

She blushed and pulled her hands away, "Thank you."

Our food arrived as we dug in.

"Remember what I told you back then?" I asked her as she nodded. "About trusting yourself and your training."

"Yeah, I remember," She played with her fries. "It's hard though. I mean, after everything that happened."

"Regrets will always live with us, but we can't let it stop us from moving forward," I took a bite of my burger. "Trust me, I know."

She remained silent.

"I guess you are right," She took a sip of her soda. "By the way, can I ask you a question?"

"Go ahead..."

"You just said that nothing should stop me from moving forward and I do want to take that step. That's why..." Her cheeks look kinda flushed, "I know that you have so many girls in your life. And I heard from Ms. Marvel how you take care of them... Do you think it would be weird that I have a crush on you? Like, you are my mentor, and I am just..."

Ah! My silver tongue passive! I should have known. I have trained her for two years now and bonded with her quite a lot during that time. She is a sweet girl and deserves love. Back in the past life, she was one of my favorite characters, and now, hearing her saying that...

"It's not weird at all," I smiled. "In fact, I am honored that a beautiful girl like you has feelings for me."

Her face turned redder.
