Chapter 6: Contract
John, with a creepy smile, began to draw a blueprint. But before his pen touched the paper, he realized he hadn't taken stock of his surroundings. He had been too engrossed in measuring the size of the unimaginably massive planet looming in the sky, neglecting to observe where he stood.
He stepped outside and looked around.
His home, a small cabin, was perched on a mountain range. Everywhere he looked, towering peaks stretched endlessly. At the base of the mountains lay a dense forest teeming with monsters, while atop some peaks were large Wyvern nests.
"So, I'm on a mountain range," he muttered to himself.
Satisfied, John returned to his cabin and resumed work on his blueprint.
The Next Day
After finishing the blueprint, John ventured out of his cabin. With a thought, he expanded his magical sense, scanning everything within thousands of kilometers.
Suddenly, he turned his head northward and vanished.
Amid the towering mountains, there was an expansive plain stretching for hundreds of kilometers. In the center of this vast plain stood a colossal creature, so massive it dwarfed the surrounding mountains as if they were mere stones.
The creature had a lean, muscular frame covered in tough, white-scaled skin. Its streamlined body exuded agility and power. Bat-like wings, tipped with claw-like appendages, doubled as forelimbs. Powerful hind legs ended in razor-sharp claws, while a long tail, far longer than its body, culminated in a venomous stinger. Its elongated neck supported a sharp, angular head adorned with two horns. Large, menacing eyes and keen nostrils gave the creature an aura of predatory intelligence.
This was a Wyvern Lord, the ruler of the mountain range.
The Wyvern Lord, a level 9 monster, measured 2,000 kilometers from head to tail, with a stature of hundreds of kilometers and a wingspan of 400 kilometers. Known as the largest and oldest creature across 17 continents, it was rumored to rival even the legendary One-Eye Black Dragon in strength.
As the Wyvern Lord slept peacefully, its massive eyelids suddenly opened, revealing fiery red eyes.
Raising its colossal head, the Wyvern Lord looked in a specific direction. Standing atop the tallest mountain was a lone figure, John.
"What do you seek, human?" a mature, gentle, feminine voice rumbled from the Wyvern's massive mouth, the sheer force of her words generating powerful winds that uprooted trees.
John stood unfazed, casually casting a spell that split the wind into harmless streams.
"You're surprisingly polite for a Wyvern," John said, his tone calm.
"I've lived long enough to know that senseless hostility often leads to nothing but headaches," the Wyvern replied.
"I can relate to that."
"You still haven't answered my question, human."
"I want you to become my subordinate."
The Wyvern Lord chuckled, her voice echoing across the mountains. "That's a bold joke, human."
Suddenly, an overwhelming magical pressure erupted from her massive body. The sky turned crimson, the earth quaked, and creatures in the vicinity either fainted or perished from the sheer intensity.
John, standing at the epicenter of this power, remained unshaken.
The two locked eyes, their silent contest stretching on for a minute before the Wyvern Lord giggled, amused. "You are weak, yet you give off the chill of death. Are you, perhaps, a monster in human guise?"
"Not quite," John replied casually. "I'm just a strong human, that's all."
Their tension eased, and soon they were chatting as if they had been old friends, exchanging names and stories with unexpected camaraderie.
A Few Hours Later
"Well, that's enough small talk," the Wyvern Lord said. "Tell me, John, what's your true purpose here?"
"I want to claim this mountain range and make it my main base of operations," John explained. "But your presence here complicates things. After all, only one king can rule a mountain, right?"
The Wyvern Lord nodded in understanding.
"So, Mira," John said, using her name, "do you agree or not?"
"Yes," Mira replied.
John smiled and conjured a magical contract that would bind them together as master and servant.
"Drop your blood onto this contract," he instructed.
Mira complied, letting a drop of her immense blood fall onto the parchment. A massive magic circle appeared beneath them, solidifying their bond.
In that moment, their fates became intertwined. Master and servant, bound together forever, until the day the contract might be broken by its master.
