Chapter 5: Waking Up
John woke to a chill in the air, his eyes fluttering open to reveal an unfamiliar room. Disoriented, he frowned, trying to figure out where he was.
After a moment of silence, he decided to ask someone who would know.
[Sasha, where am I?]
Sasha was one of John's forbidden skills, a sentient system that managed his abilities, provided assistance, and, in short, could handle anything he needed.
Her reply came swiftly.
[You're in Blank All Existence, Vard Reality, Hogar Realm, Omniverse Sedaf, Fictional Asertash Dimension, Ragarta Gigaverse, Delfit Megaverse, Sert/Danmachi Multiverse, 8,888,888,888,888,888,888Ac Universe, Welt Galaxy, Genkai Planet.]
John blinked, processing the overwhelming amount of information.
[Danmachi? Isn't that an anime?]
[Correct. It's from your previous world. You watched it often but forgot about it due to your projects. It was your favorite.]
[I don't remember it… wait a minute. I do. Isn't it about a young hero?]
[Exactly.]
[What timeline am I in?] John asked, his curiosity piqued.
[Seltik Calendar Year 1230—six years before the main plot begins.]
[Interesting. How did I end up here? I remember dying, but I have no memories of this life. Did I possess this body, or is it something else?]
Sasha paused for a moment before responding.
[An Absolute Being reconstructed your body and placed you here.]
[An Absolute Being? Are you referring to the True Creators or the Original Creator?]
"Neither. I'm talking about the lady who's been visiting your dreams since childhood."
John's eyes narrowed as a broad grin spread across his face. "So, I'll meet her soon, huh?"
Closing his eyes, John inspected his body. All his powers were sealed, including his base form. For now, he was just a regular human with a meager amount of mana. He wondered who could have sealed his powers but dismissed the thought quickly. His instincts told him only he could have done it. Trusting that instinct, he stood up and headed to the bathroom.
He washed his face and looked at his reflection in the mirror.
John hadn't changed much, his black hair, blue eyes, and lean, toned physique were all the same. The only difference was the closed third eye on his forehead.
"A third eye now, huh?" he muttered.
He tried opening it naturally, then by force, but nothing worked. After several failed attempts, he gave up. Shrugging it off, he went to the kitchen to find something to eat.
The fridge immediately caught his attention. Unlike the appliances he knew, this one was powered by magic instead of electricity. Upon inspection, John noticed the magical technology was still in its infancy, with no mana engines or circuits, just a rudimentary magic circle and stone. Primitive, but fitting for this era.
Opening the fridge, he found a decent variety of food, pork, beef, chicken, milk, and vegetables.
"Better than I expected," he said, satisfied.
After a hearty meal, John stepped outside to get a sense of his surroundings. The first thing that caught his eye was an unimaginably massive planet looming in the sky.
His mind raced as he instinctively tried to calculate its size, but to his shock, he couldn't. The planet's size surpassed even the Eternal Level Unknown, the highest conceivable measurement in the laws and concepts of all existence. He noted the oddity of its atmosphere, as well as a faint feeling of familiarity.
Next, he calculated the planet's distance. His findings left him momentarily stunned.
The unimaginably massive planet was 1 trillion levels unknown away.
John covered his face with his hands, his shoulders shaking uncontrollably. Then, as if breaking under the weight of his emotions, he burst into laughter.
"I did it!" he shouted, dancing like a lunatic.
[Congratulations, Master!] Sasha joined in his celebration.
[Did the True Creators ever grasp the full size or mystery of that planet?]
[No.]
[The Old One.]
[No.]
[Samantha?]
[Still no.]
Grinning like a madman, John decided to move on. He turned his attention to the world he currently resides, curious about its size. Using telescope magic with infinite range, he attempted to determine the horizon's end. Despite his limited mana, John's absolute control allowed him to minimize energy consumption to near-zero levels, effectively granting him infinite capacity.
Even with maximum range, he couldn't find the horizon's edge. The planet's size exceeded infinity itself.
John wasn't surprised. "Exactly as expected."
Satisfied with his findings, he returned to his house, intent on drawing blueprints for his new base in this world.
