Chapter 7: Chapter 7 The Dark Song
Chapter 7: The Dark Song
"All you need is to sing, sweet sweet little thing. Close your eyes,go to sleep, sweet sweet little thing.."
The Gryffindor dormitory was silent, the stillness only broken by the occasional sound of someone shifting in their sleep. Seo Min lay in her bed, staring up at the ceiling, her mind restless after everything that had happened. The Elder Wand, Harry's cryptic warnings, and her strange new world—it was all too much.
Just as she began to drift off, a sound destroyed the silence
It was faint at first, almost like a whisper carried on the wind. But then it grew louder, low and haunting, a melody that sent shivers racing down her spine. The voice was deep and menacing, the kind of sound that felt wrong, like it didn't belong in the world of the living.
Seo Min's breath caught in her throat. Was she dreaming? She sat up slowly, straining her ears. The song was still there, chilling and persistent.
She glanced around the room at her sleeping roommates. No one else seemed to hear it. Heart pounding, she slipped out of bed, careful not to make a sound. The floor was cold under her feet as she crept out of the dormitory and down the staircase to the Gryffindor common room.
The fire crackled softly, casting a warm glow over the room. Seo Min froze when she spotted a figure sitting by the fire, his silhouette tense and unmoving.
"Jungkook?" she whispered, stepping closer.
He turned his head slightly, his face illuminated by the flickering light. "You too?" he asked, his voice low and curious.
"You're hearing it?" Seo Min asked, her voice trembling a little when she realized she is not the only one.
Jungkook nodded, staring into the flames. "It's been going on for hours. I thought I was losing it."
Seo Min sat down next to him, hugging her knees. "It's... terrifying," she admitted. "I couldn't stay in bed. It feels like it's coming from everywhere."
Before Jungkook could reply, footsteps sounded on the staircase, and Namjoon appeared, rubbing his temples. Jin, Hoseok, Yoongi, Taehyung, and Jimin followed close behind, their faces pale and drawn.
"Alright," Namjoon said, his voice sharp and acusing. "Who's singing?"
"It's not us," Jungkook said quickly.
"Then what the hell is it?" Yoongi asked, his tone edged with irritation, though the look in his eyes betrayed his unease. He wanted to sleep, they had Quidditch tomorrow morning.
Jimin shuddered, wrapping his arms around himself. "It's like... it's alive or something. I can feel it."
Seo Min swallowed hard, taking straind of hair off her face as she was strugling to keep her eyes open. "You're all hearing it too?"
Taehyung nodded, his usual playful expression replaced by a rare seriousness. "It's not just a sound. It's... heavy. Like it's pushing down on me."
"We thought it was one of you," Jin said, glancing between Jungkook and Seo Min now standing next to eachother in their red and white Grifffindoor pajamas.
"It's not," Seo Min said quickly. "But there's something you should know. About the wand."
The room fell silent, the only sound the soft crackling of the fire.
Seo Min hesitated, her hand brushing against the bag where the Elder Wand was hidden. "Harry told me something last night," she began, her voice barely above a whisper. "The wand... it's not just powerful. It's connected to death, to dark magic. He said I have to keep it a secret because if anyone finds out—"
She stopped, the weight of her words settling over them like a heavy fog.
"What do you mean, connected to death?" Jin asked, his voice unusually serious as he was leaning on the staircase frame.
Seo Min looked down at her hands. "It's called the Deathstick for a reason. It's... dangerous. Harry said it can draw things to it, things that shouldn't exist. He told me to keep it hidden, but now I don't know if that's enough."
Namjoon ran a hand through his hair, his expression dark. "So this song... you think it's because of the wand?"
"I don't know," Seo Min admitted. "But it has to be, right? This didn't start until..."
"Until the wand showed up and you with it in Hogwarts," Jungkook finished for her.
Hoseok shifted uncomfortably, his usual cheer replaced by visible anxiety. "What does it want? Why is it—why is it singing to us?"
Seo Min shook her head. "I don't know. I don't even know what this wand is capable of."
"Whatever it is," Yoongi said quietly, his voice steady despite the fear in his eyes, "we need to figure it out. Fast."
"We should tell Harry," Jimin suggested, his voice tinged with worry.
Seo Min shook her head firmly. "He already knows about the wand, but he doesn't know about the song. He told me to keep this a secret. If too many people find out, it'll only make things worse."
"Then what do we do?" Taehyung asked, his boxy smile nowhere to be seen.
Namjoon's expression grew thoughtful. "We'll start by finding out where the voice is coming from. If it's connected to the wand, there might be something in the library that can help us. Until then, no one goes anywhere alone. Got it?"
The group nodded, though the unease in the room was palpable. They were all tired, they wanted to sleep because everyday at Hogwarts was full speed for them.
As they settled into the common room for the rest of the night, the song continued, faint and haunting, like a shadow that refused to leave. Seo Min clutched her bag tighter she was leaned on Jungkook's shoulder, her mind racing with questions she wasn't sure she wanted answers to.
Whatever this voice was, one thing was clear: they were in way over their heads.
------
The Great Hall buzzed with the usual morning chaos as plates of food appeared magically on the long tables. Seo Min slid onto the bench at the Gryffindor table, Jungkook plopping down next to her. Across from them, the rest of the boys were already digging into their breakfasts.
"Pass the toast, please," Jungkook said, reaching for a slice before Seo Min could even hand it over. She rolled her eyes and grabbed a biscuit instead.
On the other side of the table, Jimin was poking at Yoongi's plate with his fork. "Yoongi-hyung, you're supposed to eat the eggs, not stare at them like they've offended you."
Yoongi shot him a glare but said nothing, determinedly pushing his scrambled eggs around.
"Maybe they have offended him," Jin said, smirking as he sipped his pumpkin juice. "You never know with Yoongi. He holds grudges, even against breakfast."
"Let me fix that for you." Jimin dramatically reached across the table, aiming to scoop the eggs onto his own plate.
"Touch them and you're losing that hand," Yoongi warned without looking up.
Jimin grinned mischievously and poked at the eggs again, only for Yoongi to smack his hand away with a quick, practiced motion. The group erupted in laughter, Hoseok almost choking on his toast.
Seo Min chuckled, leaning toward Jungkook. "Are they always like this?"
"Pretty much," Jungkook replied, biting into an apple. "You get used to it. Or you don't. I haven't decided yet."
Across the table, Namjoon shook his head at the chaos, but a faint smile tugged at his lips.
The laughter faded, and for a moment, the group fell back into a usual rhythm of eating and light chatting between them. But then, something strange had to happen in Hogwarts as Seo Min learned last night.
The warmth of the hall seemed to dim, the sunlight filtering through the enchanted ceiling suddenly weaker. Seo Min shivered, her smile fading as a faint, familiar sound reached her ears.
That song.
She glanced at Jungkook, who had gone rigid beside her, his knuckles white as he gripped his fork. Across the table, the others had stilled, their expressions shifting from cheerful to tense. The low, haunting melody was back, creeping through the air like a shadow no one could see.
Seo Min's stomach twisted, her appetite vanishing.
"What the hell is that?" Jin whispered, his voice barely audible over the eerie hum. The Other students kept laughting and talking like nothing was going on only Seo Min and the group seemed to be afected by this.
No one had an answer, but they all knew one thing for certain: the song wasn't done with them yet.
