Chapter 9: Chapter: 9

Chapter: 9

Last Time

"You humans are always this cocky," Kalawarna growled, wings flaring.

"Really now?" Kouki said, glancing at Rias and Akeno. "Mind if I take all three?"

"Ara ara, selfish, aren't you? But sure, go ahead," Akeno smiled approvingly.

"Be my guest," Rias added, cracking her knuckles.

"Wonderful." Kouki turned back to the Fallen Angels, a smirk spreading across his face. "Now, come at me, all of you!"

Now

"You cocky bastard!" Kalawarna yelled, summoning a light spear and charging at me.

With a sidestep, I caught her arm, halting her mid-attack. "No, no. You're doing it all wrong," I said calmly, before flinging her back. "I said all of you—come at me."

"Don't blame us if you die," Mittelt sneered, her voice laced with malice.

Light spears appeared in Mittelt and Dohnaseek's hands as the three of them charged me together. Dohnaseek closed in first, thrusting his spear mere inches from my face. I teleported above him, an orb of condensed wind forming in my palm as I slammed it into his back, sending him crashing into the ground with a violent explosion. Dust and debris filled the air. As I landed, Kalawarna was already rushing in from the side, aiming for my head. I teleported again, reappearing beside her with lightning crackling around my hand. I struck her in the side, sending her hurtling toward the barrier.

And then, breaking the tension, Rias's voice called out, amusement in her tone.

"Nice references! How about using some more notable ones next time?"

A laugh slipped out as I turned my attention to Mittelt, who was clearly shaken now. She took a step back as Dohnaseek and Kalawarna struggled to rise, glaring as they came at me one more time. With a sigh, I waited until they were close, then teleported right in front of Dohnaseek, grabbing his arm as he tried to strike. My other hand charged with lightning and Power of Destruction, forming a blade, which I swung down, cleaving him and the ground behind him in two.

I teleported behind Kalawarna, grabbed her by her leg, and slammed her into the ground, cracks splintering beneath her impact.

"Have you heard of the latest sensation sweeping the nation?" I asked, removing the Crucifix from my back, pointing it at her as energy surged through it.

"Huh?" Kalawarna managed, her voice strained with pain.

"Bitches love cannons." I smirked and pulled the trigger, the blast vaporizing her instantly.

"There we go!" Rias cheered from behind me.

I chuckled softly. "Damn it, Rias…"

Turning back to Mittelt, I started toward her. She backed away, panic clear in her eyes, her hands frantically summoning light spears which she hurled at me. With each spear I dodged, her fear grew, and eventually, she collapsed to her knees, tears streaming down her face.

"P-Please, spare me…" she stammered, trembling.

I tilted my head, studying her for a moment, before looking back at Rias. "Can we keep her?"

Rias gave me a deadpan stare, then sighed. "Kouki, we came here to kill all the fallen angels."

"I agree with Rias, Buchou." Akeno said with a frown.

"I know, but she's harmless. I killed the others, so… please? I promise she won't cause any trouble."

After a moment, Rias sighed again, nodding reluctantly. "Fine. But, Kouki, if she causes any issues…"

I smirked. "Rias, you live with me—you'll know if she steps out of line."

Rias rolled her eyes, but a small smile tugged at her lips. I turned back to Mittelt.

"Alright, you heard her. Up," I said, a hint of humor in my voice.

Mittelt scrambled to her feet, still visibly shaken.

"Listen carefully," I said, my tone serious now. "If you try to run, I'll find you. If you attack anyone without my permission, I will kill you. Understood?"

Mittelt nodded quickly, her face pale with fear.

"Good. Now follow along."

As I walked over to Rias and Akeno, Akeno dispelled the barrier, and I glanced back at Mittelt, ensuring she was complying.

"Shall we go check on Issei and the others?" I asked.

"Yes, we should," Rias replied.

"Let's go check on our juniors," Akeno agreed.

I shrugged, placing a hand on Mittelt's shoulder, and we teleported into the church basement. Koneko and Kiba were fighting off stray exorcists and fallen angels.

I looked at Rias. "Want to take care of them since I handled the main three?"

"Leaving the scraps to me, huh?" Rias replied, amused.

"Hey, you said it, not me." I winked.

Rias rolled her eyes but stepped forward. "Alright, go get Kiba and Koneko."

I teleported over, grabbing Kiba and Koneko, and returned to Rias's side. They both looked at me, a mix of relief and disbelief in their eyes.

The remaining exorcists and fallen angels noticed us, but Rias was already preparing. She reached into her pocket dimension, pulling out Ryūjin Jakka. With a snap, multiple red stars formed on the ground around her targets.

Taking a stance, Rias vanished in a blur of red, her speed leaving trails as she sliced through each enemy. Each time she reappeared, a new red star lit up in her previous position, her strikes precise and lethal.

"Constellation Burst," she murmured, sheathing her sword as her opponents fell, their bodies torn apart.

"Nicely done, Rias," Akeno praised. "All that training with Kouki has paid off."

I grinned. "The way you move, they might start calling you the Red Flash."

Rias laughed, a hint of pride in her eyes. "Yeah, yeah."

Our brief moment was interrupted by the sound of shattering glass.

"Shall we check on Issei?" Rias asked, glancing toward the noise.

"Oh, right. Nearly forgot about him." I snapped my fingers, teleporting us to the church sanctuary.

There, Issei was about to collapse, and a blonde nun lay unconscious on a bench. Rias and I exchanged glances, nodding to Kiba and Koneko, who immediately knew what to do. I teleported Koneko outside as Kiba moved to catch Issei.

"He did well," I commented, genuinely impressed.

"He did," Akeno agreed.

Rias gave a soft smile. "I wouldn't have let him go if I didn't believe he could handle it."

"Fair point." I turned to Mittelt, who had been silent, watching Issei with a stunned expression, perhaps in disbelief that he had defeated her ally. I snapped my fingers to get her attention, motioning for her to follow.

We approached Issei, and I gave him a light shove. "Good work, idiot."

Issei's eyes widened as he looked up, surprised. "Kouki?"

"Well done, Issei," Rias praised, standing beside me with a proud smile.

"B-Buchou… Akeno…"

The door swung open as Koneko entered, carrying the fallen angel Issei had been fighting and unceremoniously dropped her to the ground.

"Did someone order this?" she asked dryly.

Rias and I approached the defeated fallen angel.

"You must be Rayanare lovely entrance." Rias said

"Ah this is the bitch that fucked with Issei quite an unfortunate situation you got yourself in." I said.

"I am Rias Gremory also known as the next head of the House of Gremory."

"Gremory you gotta be kidding." Raynare

"It's lovely to meet you. What a shame we don't have time to chat but unfortunately it's time to join your friends that were disposed of earlier." Rias said

"W-What?"

"What don't believe us, your friend here can vouch." I said motioning for Mittelt to show herself.

Mittelt walked out from behind me trying to not look Raynare in the eyes.

"Mittelt what are you doing attack them you doing attack them!" Raynare shouted

"I don't think you understand the situation you're in." I said as lightning started dancing across my body. "You are in no position to order anything from anybody."

Raynare then started to panic, she then changed her outfit to a short black dress with a small, light purple jacket on top and started to beg Issei to help her.

"Please I was only doing my job as a fallen angel."

Rias and I glanced at Issei as he walked forward towards Raynare which we made no effort to stop him.

"You won't make them kill them right?" Raynare

Issei stood and stared at her for a few seconds before turning around, giving Rias and I the go ahead to kill her. I raised my hand and lightning sparked to life and Rias created a ball of P.O.D before we fired them at Raynare, erasing her completely as black feathers scattered through the air. A pair of silver rings floated in the air which I took from out of the air before giving them to Issei and he started walking over to Asia's body.

"I'm assuming you can take it from here?" I asked Rias

"Yes."

"Good, I'll head home now, I'll go and cook up something." I glanced over at Asia's body. "I'll make extras."

Rias nodded

"Let's go." I said to Mittelt who nodded as I snapped as we teleported.
