Chapter 253

“Oh my god…” In awe of the miraculous sight, an imperial wizard made the sign of the cross.

Theresa, too, looked around in shock, trying to find the source of this phenomenon. But she wouldn’t be able to find him.

Keugh…

” Damian gasped for breath as he struggled to straighten his knees. He wanted to stand upright but had to lean against a tree trunk.

Damian had expended all his mana to release the white magic.

Beeeeeep!

A ringing like his eardrums were bursting tore through his mind; his lungs contracted, and his veins felt like they were about to burst.

Cough

!”

He coughed up blood several times due to severe internal injuries, making it difficult to maintain the invisibility trained to hold until the brink of death. In other words, Damian was dying. This was the price of using all his mana.

At that moment, Theresa’s gaze turned in his direction.

Did she really find me?

Damian was in such perfect stealth that even an emperor with special eyes couldn’t detect him. Even though his stealth wavered, it shouldn’t have mattered. Unless someone transcended humanity, they couldn’t possibly see through him. So, although he thought she couldn’t have seen him, his heart pounded oddly.

Could she possibly see him? Could it be that they were genuinely making eye contact and not just a feeling? Maybe. Just maybe…

Damian wasn’t sure if he wanted to be found or remain hidden.

Soon, Theresa turned her head away. “I’ll purify the monsters, so everyone, leave this place.”

“Understood.”

Theresa left right after successfully purifying the monsters, betraying his hopes. Both his elaborate trap and she were gone. He had futilely ruined everything with his own hands.

Shhhaa—

As the holy power that had covered the ground dispersed and the rain, which had seemed to reverse direction, fell in torrents.

Damian lay on the ground, looking up at the rainy sky.

He hated the rain. Yet his last sight would be a rainy scene. What a joke. His consciousness faded quickly.

His death was close. Before closing his eyes, Damian made a wish.

Please, let her not have found me.

But his heart, which had lost the will to sustain life, mocked cruelly as if it already knew the truth. She wouldn’t care if he died or not. Because he’s just discarded trash.

I know.

Maybe this end was inevitable from the moment he made a deal with the monster, instead of dying beautifully and disappearing in the dungeon. But he had no regrets. He was such a selfish b*stard that he wanted to see her again, even as an unwelcome guest in this world. So be it.

In the end, they couldn’t be together, but so be it.

[Goodbye, Wife.]

From the orphan Damian, who wanted to be your only one.

“Wait a moment.” I couldn’t shake off the uneasiness and stopped walking.

“What’s going on?”

The imperial wizards looked at me with anxious expressions as if they were eager to escape this dreadful forest.  I understand how they feel.

The reason I wasn’t using teleportation magic as usual was that I feared the strangely modified insect monsters I saw earlier might flow into the city.  So, I planned to walk to a point I deemed safe and then teleport.

I thought I’d purify the entire area with Libby after that…

Something felt off.  The preparation of this bizarre forest, the sudden outburst of the overwhelming white magic power, it all seemed like Damian’s doing, and it left my mind in chaos.

I thought he set a trap to draw me in on purpose, so why did he suddenly let me go?

Even though Damian was extraordinary, releasing such a massive amount of magic was a risky move.

“I have something to check. The magical creatures here will escort you, so go to the agreed point and wait.”

The wizards hesitated, not liking the idea of me entering the forest alone, but eventually nodded reluctantly. “We know how extraordinary you are, Lady Theresa. However, it’s true that we’re worried because the opponent is so wicked. Please be careful.”

“I will.”

The wizards walked toward the destination with worried faces, and I retraced my steps back.

Ding!

[Why are you going back to that horrible bug hell?

_

I hate bugs!]

“Because I think I saw something.”

The moment the area was filled with white magic power, I felt a strange gaze from afar.  It was a peculiar sensation that could have easily been dismissed as a figment of my imagination, but it somehow bothered me. I had an uncanny premonition that if I didn’t check it out, something would go wrong.

I stopped walking when I reached the spot where I guessed the gaze had come from.  This area was particularly dense, with plants growing in sinister shapes.  There were also many tall trees, making it a good place to hide and observe the surroundings.  Damian would have been around here.

“He was definitely around here.”

But there was no one around.  Had he left after failing in his plan?  But it seemed like Damian himself had chosen to abandon the plan.

“Damian!” I called out loudly, even though there might be members of Stigmata hiding around. “You’re here, aren’t you? Come out! Stop spying on me like a coward!”

But my voice was futilely buried under the torrential rain.

I furiously wiped away the rainwater that soaked my face and obstructed my vision, but it was in vain.

I can’t see with my eyes. I have to find him with magic.

Realizing that it would be difficult to find Damian in this way, I took the risk of using magic to scan the surroundings. A person was caught in my senses. But it was a corpse.

“No way.”

It couldn’t be Damian, could it?

I quickly set the coordinates and used teleportation magic to move there.  With a nervous wave of my hand, the soil was dug up, revealing a corpse.

Gasp

…”

The corpse was headless. I felt like I was going to vomit, but I had to confirm that this body wasn’t Damian, so I examined it with trembling eyes.

“…It’s not Damian.”

The deceased was dressed in the attire of Stigmata’s elite, so it wasn’t Damian. He usually wore an assassin’s outfit that covered him from head to toe in black.

I anxiously moved again.

“He was definitely here…”

I didn’t know why I was acting so pathetically, even though I had declared my separation from Damian and sent him away for good.  But my heart was inexplicably anxious.

Ding!

[The Constellation ‘Just Live with Damian

[So it was Damian who used the white magic, right? Please forgive him… Just teach him not to do wrong

.]

Ding!

[The Constellation ‘Born From Theresa’s Heart’ has sponsored 1,000,000 coins.]

[Damian is an adult too, so what’s there to teach; even though Theresa is his creator, she’s not a god.]

Ding!

[The Constellation ‘Professional Instructor’ has sponsored 1,000,000 coins.]

[I agree with what was just said. I guess some people think Theresa has become omnipotent now that she’s gotten stronger, but she’s still human. Let’s remember that she can die from overexertion.]

Ding!

[I know

ㅋㅋ

. But weren

t Damian and Theresa practically in a relationship? Then she should take responsibility

ㅋㅋ

. Seriously, these Theresa fans are so extra.]

After declaring the separation with Damian, the constellations supporting him were deeply saddened. Perhaps that’s why there are more frequent fights through sponsorship these days.

I’m the one at fault.

I sighed deeply inside when I sensed someone’s presence.

“Well, I can’t agree with that.”

I turned my head to see Ozworld, dressed in a red suit from head to toe, after a long time.

Ding!

[The Constellation ‘Ozworld is Real World’ has sponsored 1,000,000 coins.]

[Ozworld

ㅠㅠㅠㅠ

. Why are you so busy lately

ㅠㅠ

? Show your face more often.]

Ozworld chuckled and snapped his fingers. The sponsorships that welcomed his appearance stopped all at once. It seemed he had played an ad.

He approached and held a black umbrella over my head. “How have you been?”

I wanted to step back from him standing close, but there was no need to make such a move and return to the pouring rain.

Frowning at the running rainwater, I asked. “What brings you here? You don’t seem to have come as Marquis Vallensia.”

Ozworld brushed the water from my eyes, which I couldn’t open properly, with his gloved hand and answered. “I just returned from attending to my main job. I’ve been busy.”

As I raised my hand to refuse his unnecessary kindness, he kissed my cheek. His cold cheek touched my fingertip, then scratched away. I felt a surge of displeasure at this accidental contact and hurriedly lowered my hand, but he caught it.

“Congratulations on being number one for 15 consecutive days, Miss Theresa.”

I wanted to sharply retort and tell him to take his hand off, but the only thing I could say was a reluctant answer.  “…Yeah.”

It had already been that long since I first became number one. That meant the last semester was about to begin.

I should head to the dorm soon.

When I was momentarily lost in thought, Ozworld looked at my hand and smiled contentedly. “You’re wearing it well. I’m glad to see you understand that meaningless resistance is just wasteful.”

I almost sneered.

Was it because I had been on edge trying to find Damian until just now? Today, his gaze, which seemed to look at me as if I were a well-trained beast, was particularly hard to ignore.

I had prided myself on managing my hatred for Ozworld well because it had become such a routine feeling. But not today. Honestly, today, I was so sensitive, as if I were back at the beginning of the possession, and the stress was overwhelming me. Each time Ozworld did this, my patience in pretending to be indifferent and detached was reaching its limit.

A bright red warning light flashed in my heated head. Today is dangerous. My instincts were warning me that if I didn’t come to my senses, I might be swept away by impulses and do something reckless.
