Chapter 34: Chapter 34: Echoes of the Rift
The tension in the AeroGallacianSpace headquarters had reached a critical level. Every movement, every keystroke, every glance exchanged between team members carried an unspoken question—who could be trusted?
Cynthia sat at the head of the operations table, eyes scanning the data on the holo-screen before her. The encrypted transmissions Marcus had uncovered led to multiple dead ends, but one thing was clear: Kane had an inside connection.
Lena frowned, scrolling through lines of code. "Whoever the mole is, they've rerouted signals through different relay points. It's going to take time to untangle."
"We don't have time," Marla said sharply. "Kane's next move won't be as subtle."
Marcus exhaled and leaned forward. "Then let's stop playing defense. We lure them out."
Cynthia met his gaze. "Go on."
"We create a false data packet—something tempting enough for the mole to bite. Once they access it, we trace the breach in real time."
Prometheus smirked. "Clever. But dangerous."
Cynthia nodded slowly. "It's a risk we have to take." She turned to Lena. "Can you craft something convincing?"
Lena's lips pressed into a determined line. "I can."
Marla leaned back, arms crossed. "Then let's set the trap. And when they take the bait…" She met Cynthia's gaze.
"We end this."
