Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Contracting the Little Amethyst Winged Lion
Chapter 89: Contracting the Little Amethyst Winged Lion
After a quarter of an hour, Mo Yu and Yun Yun reached their destination.
Gazing at the massive mountain in the distance, Mo Yu spotted a large cave entrance at the summit, partially hidden by the trees.
"That's the Amethyst Winged Lion King's lair. I'll do my best to kill or injure it. When the time is right, you'll need to sneak into the cave," Yun Yun instructed, pointing to the distant cave.
"Got it," Mo Yu nodded.
With everything settled, Yun Yun wasted no time. Her wings flapped, and she gracefully ascended into the sky, quickly flying towards the cave entrance.
Yun Yun didn't bother to conceal her approach, so as she got within a hundred meters of the cave, a series of beastly roars echoed from the mountain.
"A human woman! You dare show yourself again?! Today, I'll take your life to avenge my broken horn!"
The Amethyst Winged Lion King's enraged roar shook the sky as it emerged from its lair in a flash of purple light, crashing into the forest below. The battle began once more.
Glancing at the battle above, Mo Yu quickly sprang into action, turning into a shadow as he dashed through the dense forest towards the mountain's summit.
Leaving the forest, the massive cave entrance came into view.
Mo Yu circled the area and climbed up to the entrance. Using the rocks for cover, he crouched and then swiftly shot into the cave.
The interior wasn't as dark as he had expected. Here and there, the walls were embedded with purple crystals that illuminated the way.
After passing through a long tunnel, Mo Yu reached a fork in the path.
He followed one path for a while, feeling the temperature rise, until he emerged into a larger chamber. Looking around, he spotted something in the center of the room—a pedestal made entirely of amethyst, and atop it sat a purple orb the size of a human head.
His eyes lit up as he recognized the orb. "The Amethyst Source!"
This was one of his primary objectives. Seeing it, he felt a weight lift off his shoulders.
As soon as his hand touched the Amethyst Source, Mo Yu gasped in shock and quickly pulled back his hand, which was searing hot. Only after using the Scarlet Phoenix Sky Thunder to absorb the heat did the burning sensation fade.
"It seems I'll need to crack open the shell first," Mo Yu thought, summoning the Scarlet Phoenix Sky Thunder.
He directed the red lightning to the orb, and after a few moments, cracks appeared on its surface. Soon, with a loud crack, the shell shattered.
As the shell broke, purple liquid began to flow out.
Mo Yu hurriedly took out jade bottles from his storage ring and filled them with the liquid. Although the outside of the Amethyst Source was scorching hot, the liquid inside was surprisingly cool.
The orb had looked large, but it only filled six small jade bottles.
"With the Amethyst Source secured, it's time to find the Amethyst Crystal and contract that little Amethyst Winged Lion," Mo Yu said, feeling pleased with his progress.
He carefully stored the six bottles and then headed back to the fork to take the other path.
After walking for a bit, the passage opened up again.
Mo Yu pressed himself against the cave wall and peeked into the room, which was filled with purple crystals.
In the center of the room lay a small Amethyst Winged Lion, sleeping peacefully.
Mo Yu's eyes brightened at the sight. Though this little lion didn't have the imposing aura of the six-tier beast outside, it still exuded a certain majesty.
"Perfect, you'll do nicely," Mo Yu thought, considering how impressive it would be to ride such a beast in the future.
As he approached, the little lion seemed to sense something, slowly opening its eyes and raising its head, warily scanning its surroundings.
"Hey, over here," Mo Yu called out.
The lion turned, spotting the human. It let out an angry roar, its eyes blazing as it fixed its gaze on Mo Yu.
"That's no way to treat your future master," Mo Yu muttered. He quickly formed a hand seal, releasing a powerful surge of soul force that pressed down on the little lion.
Despite being a third-tier beast, it was still stronger than Mo Yin. Fortunately, Mo Yu's soul power had greatly increased, and he knew that magical beasts, though physically strong, often had weaker souls. Otherwise, it would have been much harder to subdue this lion.
Feeling the pressure from Mo Yu's soul force, the little lion became uneasy. As the offspring of the Amethyst Winged Lion King, it was smarter than most beasts and instinctively began to retreat, planning to run to its father.
Seeing this, Mo Yu wasn't about to let it escape. He concentrated his soul power into a needle and drove it into the lion's mind.
Compared to its tough exterior, the lion's soul defenses were weak. Under Mo Yu's precise control, his soul force acted like a drill, continuously assaulting the lion's soul.
After a few seconds, Mo Yu found a weak spot in the lion's soul defenses. His expression brightened as he poured more soul force into the breach.
"Roar!"
The lion roared in pain as Mo Yu's soul force invaded its mind. It charged at him in a frenzy, but Mo Yu deftly dodged, all while maintaining his soul pressure.
When the moment felt right, Mo Yu formed a complex hand seal, releasing an unusual energy.
"Soul Seal!"
The Soul Seal was a secret technique Mo Yu had learned in his past life. It allowed him to implant a mark in a beast's soul, binding it as his contracted beast.
Mo Yu had learned this technique by sneaking into a powerful beast-taming sect, which had led to many attempts on his life.
As the seal began to form in the lion's mind, it resisted fiercely, causing the process to slow. At this rate, it would take half an hour to complete, and Mo Yu knew Yun Yun wouldn't wait that long.
Gritting his teeth, Mo Yu pulled out one of the six bottles of Amethyst Source and poured it onto the Scarlet Phoenix Sky Thunder.
As the liquid was absorbed, the red lightning flared up, growing stronger. A powerful aura filled the chamber, and Mo Yu could sense the presence of the Phoenix's might within the lightning.
Mo Yu grinned and directed some of that aura into the lion's mind, amplifying the pressure.
A piercing cry echoed in the lion's mind, the sound of a phoenix's roar. The shockwave of the phoenix's might exploded in its mind, shattering its will to resist.
Seeing the lion's sudden submission, Mo Yu quickly completed the Soul Seal.
With a final, powerful pulse, the seal took hold. The lion's aggressive posture softened, and it looked at Mo Yu with newfound respect and submission.
The little lion slowly approached Mo Yu, lowering its head in a gesture of loyalty.
And just like that, the little Amethyst Winged Lion had found its master.
