Awakening: Reincarnating With the SSS-Level Extraction Talent

Chapter 235: Revived by the God of Destiny, The Scale Game

The battlefield raged as Alex and Vorsak continued their intense duel.

Overhead, Alphox clashed with the two summoned dragons, creating a violent storm of power and chaos.

Alphox roared, his shadowy wings spreading wide as he unleashed [Shadow Flames], dark fire engulfing one of the dragons entirely.

The dragon screeched in agony, its golden scales melting under the onslaught of the unnatural flames.

The second dragon charged, but Alphox was ready.

He summoned his [Umbral Shield], wrapping himself in a barrier of shadows that absorbed the dragon's fiery breath.

The redirected energy struck the attacker, sending it spiraling to the ground.

With a powerful dive, Alphox activated [Abyssal Dive], hurtling toward the fallen dragon.

The impact created a massive explosion of shadows, stunning both dragons as Alphox emerged unscathed.

When the first dragon recovered, Alphox let out an [Eclipsing Roar], stunning it once more and lowering its strength.

He didn't waste the opportunity, delivering a swift, crushing strike that ended its life.

"Waste of my time."

The second dragon fared no better, meeting its demise under another precise blow.

Alphox hovered above the battlefield, victorious, ready to assist Alex.

But then, the God of Destiny intervened.

[Stay put,] the god commanded, his voice echoing with finality.

Alphox raised an eyebrow but chuckled, understanding the unspoken rules.

"True. It's more entertaining this way," he muttered, retreating to watch.

On the ground, Alex struggled against Vorsak's relentless attacks.

He had tried summoning the [Heart of Calamity], but it remained unresponsive.

Desperate, he attempted [Death Call], summoning the Undead King.

But just as the powerful figure appeared, the God of Destiny snapped his fingers.

A beam of light launched toward the undead king.

[No more help,] the god declared.

The Undead King scoffed before vanishing into the shadows.

"Hell nah," he muttered, disappearing.

Now completely alone, Alex faced Vorsak, who grinned with confidence.

Yet, Alex wasn't one to give up easily.

Alex lunged forward, his [Bleeding Claws] slashing at Vorsak's massive frame.

He managed to land three consecutive strikes.

Slash! Slash! Slash!

-68,367,000! -68,367,000! -68,367,000!

The system beeped in response.

[Three spheres added to FateBreaker.]

Above them, the scale shifted slightly in Alex's favor.

Vorsak growled, his golden eyes narrowing.

"Alright," Vorsak muttered. "I'm done playing around."

He activated [Thunder Beam], his entire body glowing with electric energy.

Before Alex could react, Vorsak released a devastating beam of light.

It was impossibly fast, and Alex barely managed to summon [Impenetrable Fortress] in time.

The shield shattered instantly, the beam striking Alex with full force.

-367,389!

His health hit zero.

Time slowed down around him, but no matter what he thought about at that moment, he knew he couldn't dodge it.

Alphox and the God of Destiny were both looking at him.

He knew that he was fucked.

And so...

[You have died.]

Alex expected the fight to be over.

He didn't have any life-saving items and his [Blessing of the Fox Spirit] was gone, after all.

His vision darkened, and his body began to fade back to the real world.

He had failed.

Losing meant that Vorsak would be gone, and the God of Destiny might erase him entirely.

But then, a notification appeared.

[You have been brought back by the God of Destiny.]

[Your destiny has been changed.]

Alex blinked, confused. "Huh?"

Vorsak froze, equally baffled. "What?"

They both turned to the God of Destiny, who smiled, gesturing to the golden scale above them.

[I call it the Scale Game.]

The god's voice boomed across the battlefield.

[If you manage to tip your scale all the way down, you win.]

[The loser will be erased from existence.]

Alex and Vorsak exchanged uneasy glances.

Their pupils dilated as they processed the gravity of the situation.

The God of Destiny wasn't just powerful, he was one of the highest-ranked gods in Universal Descent, and this "game" was no mere entertainment.

It was a trial of life and death.

"No grudge, kid," Vorsak said, cracking his knuckles. "This is just how it is."

"I get it," Alex replied, summoning his [Bleeding Claws] again. "Let's get this over with."

He would have died anyway if it wasn't for that stupid game.

He had been give another chance!

And Alex wouldn't give it up, no matter what!

The God of Destiny leaned back, watching intently.

[The first to have an advance of 10 spheres will tip the scale and win.]

[Health means nothing, blocked attacks don't count. Have fun.]

"Can I get a drink?" Alphox asked the god of destiny.

[Sure.]

He tapped his hands together, and a large lemonade appeared in front of him.

[Enjoy the show.] Find adventures at empire

"Thanks."

With no time to waste, Vorsak charged at Alex, swinging his massive tail.

Alex ducked and countered with a flurry of slashes.

Slash! Slash!

Two more spheres appeared on Alex's side of the scale.

Vorsak growled, activating [Destiny Slash].

His claws shimmered with golden light as he aimed for Alex's chest.

Alex barely dodged, retaliating with [Heaven's Chains].

Golden chains erupted from his staff, binding Vorsak in place.

For a brief moment, Alex had the upper hand, landing multiple strikes on Vorsak's exposed body.

The scale tipped further in Alex's favor.

From the sidelines, Alphox sipped on a large glass of lemonade, courtesy of the God of Destiny.

"This is getting good," Alphox muttered, amused.

The God of Destiny chuckled. [It's rare to see someone fight against a dragon of Vorsak's level and last this long.]

"Yeah," Alphox agreed, smirking. "But Alex is full of surprises."

The battle raged on. Vorsak broke free from the chains, roaring in frustration.

He activated [World Quake], stomping the ground and creating a massive shockwave.

Alex stumbled thrice but quickly recovered, using [Fury of Thunder] to call down three massive lightning strikes.

[+3 Vorsak.]

Two struck Vorsak directly, while the third missed.

-150,000! -150,000!

[+2 FateBreaker.]

The God of Destiny laughed, clapping his hands. [Two more spheres for FateBreaker.]

But Vorsak wasn't done yet. He leaped into the air, activating [Celestial Charge].

His body became a glowing missile as he aimed straight for Alex.

Alex raised his staff, summoning [Zeus' Storm].

A devastating lightning storm engulfed the area, dealing massive damage to Vorsak.

-30,000,000!

Both fighters were pushed to their limits, their breathing heavy as they faced each other.

By this point, the scale was nearly balanced.

Each side had nine golden spheres, leaving the final moments of the battle shrouded in tension.

Alex lunged, aiming for a decisive blow with his [Bleeding Claws].

But Vorsak was ready.

After ten minutes, Alex was sweating profusely.

[Score: 8 Vorsak - 0 FateBreaker]

Do note that the score is the amount of spheres you had in advance compared to the other.

Which meant that while Alex had many spheres, Vorsak had 8 in advance.

He would soon win.

Instinctively, Alphox tried to intervene again, but a beam of light came to hit him, harming him severely.

[I said sit.]

The god of destiny groaned, not smiling anymore.

"Why?" Alphox asked, his tone annoyed.

[It's more interesting to let them finish it themselves.]

Alphox stepped back.

He was an ex-Primordial Dragon, but even they knew they shouldn't mess with a God, no matter how high their pride and ego is.

With the stakes higher than ever, Alex and Vorsak prepared for one final clash.

Victory, survival, and existence itself hung in the balance.
