Avatar: Mage of All Elements

Chapter 32: Chapter 32

My successes did not go unnoticed and caused quite a stir throughout the Water Tribe. What the best healers couldn't cure, a little boy could. But the fact that the magic could not be restored cooled their enthusiasm, and almost all of them left me behind, asking only to share the method of healing.

For another half year, I regained my mobility, and although I couldn't use magic. And I felt that my magic was warming up inside of me, waiting for its time. I just had to figure out how to get it back. At first, I scanned all the water mages with everyone's permission, but I didn't get anything because I felt that everyone's vibration was different, and even the twins had different vibrations.

One case helped me to find out. During the next useless examination, a little boy came who had just discovered a gift in water magic. Just in case, I decided to scan him, too, and was surprised to find that his nerve was not vibrating at all. Watching him, I realized.

It was simple. When a mage begins to study the magic of water, he first conducts it through his body as the best conductor. Gradually, the elemental nerve takes on the characteristics of a symbiosis between body and magic, which is why it begins to vibrate. This means that I can't transplant someone else's nerve, but it's still possible to restore mine, though it will take a long time. But what you can't do is have a chance to get your magic back.

In children without the gift, this nerve was too thin, and considering that only a nerve from a certain vertebra was needed, it was depressing. But it's solution.

With my skills, it was no problem to enter the house and put the child into a kind of coma, and only for one month of active work, I fully restored the magic nerve, just to give it time to adapt, because it is very fragile and can break from any tension. But I achieved my goal. I was able to use magic, if only a little.

For a few more days, I went around stealing water nerves until my nerves were strong enough. I wasn't a freak, so I didn't take someone else's nerve completely, just a little bit. In the long run, the nerve should have regenerated on its own with age, and magic shouldn't be affected. But I couldn't check my progress either, because it still needed time to adapt, just like the legs, but that was the way it was. And having done everything I wanted to do, I quietly sailed away from the North Pole on one of the ships, without drawing attention to myself.

As far as I could tell, I had the middle water magic, which would take longer to recover from than fire magic. About two years. And that's still not very long. Considering my immense strength in earth magic, I'm afraid to imagine how long it would take to recover. Fire was the easiest. I didn't have much of it, and the reserve was the smallest of all, so I think I can restore everything in a few months, I just need to go to the land of fire and get the right nerve.
