Vellis Pharmaceuticals, Laboratory.
Dr. Kyle, with an electronic prosthetic eye, entered the lab wearing a hazmat suit. His gaze fell upon the corpse dissected into two halves on the table.
"Who did this?"
Dr. Kyle raised his head.
Everyone shook theirs.
One of them said, "When we got there, Chimera No. 1 was already dead."
Dr. Kyle said sternly, "Then the question arises, gentlemen: why did Chimera No. 1 escape?"
"You're receiving funding from the Department of Defense, and yet you can't even secure a test subject?"
A lab technician replied, "Doctor, we're as surprised as you are. We didn't expect this test subject to survive, let alone undergo genetic mutation."
"All previous test subjects essentially died."
Dr. Kyle said, "I don't want excuses. What I care about is results. This is a crucial project."
"I need to inform the Minister: the 'Extraordinary Soldier' program is completely unfeasible. Only my 'Chimera Project' is the fundamental way to counter the Supes!"
He turned to the corpse in the lab, approached it, and muttered softly.
"Chemical No. 5 is sufficiently mature and stable—there's no room left for improvement."
"Dr. Vogelbaum can rack his brain all he wants; he'll never create a superhuman stronger than the Supes."
"Clinging to the concept of superhumans is misguided."
"I was inspired by the mutated residents of Silver Tree Town. To defeat the monster that is the Supes, humanity must create monsters of its own!"
As he spoke, Dr. Kyle retrieved his tools and began collecting cell samples from the test subject to prepare for further research.

Looking at these updates on his retina, Homelander calmly opened the store to check the new additions.

[Price: Dim Essence of Proficiency * 60]
"Druid, huh..."
"That's actually pretty fitting."
"Hmm, this seems more suitable for Leivin."
Homelander redeemed the item and temporarily stored it in his inventory.
With this purchase, his supply of Dim Essence was reduced to 15, while he still had 49 Proficiency Essences remaining.
Since he wasn't planning to upgrade his talents at the moment and wasn't sure if he'd need to purchase additional items soon, Homelander decided not to use the Proficiency Essences for now.
---
He accelerated and, within seconds, was back at the Seven Tower, showcasing the first cosmic speed.
The next day, Homelander convened a shareholders' meeting, primarily to announce his complete control over Vought International, having acquired Edgar's shares. He also stated his intention to appoint a new CEO.
This meeting was more of a formality—no one dared oppose him.
Thus, the entire process only took about half an hour.
Returning to the Seven's command hall, Homelander encountered Ashley, his assistant, who nervously said, "Homelander, someone from the CIA is here."
Homelander was surprised and replied, "Oh? Where are they?"
"In the command hall. It's Deputy Director Susan Raynor."
Ashley glanced toward the command hall doors.
Homelander smirked, clasping his hands behind his back as he walked in.
"So, the Deputy Director herself, huh? If I recall correctly, in the original show, Victoria Neuman blows her head off. Such a pity."
As he spoke, Homelander entered the hall and saw a woman standing by the floor-to-ceiling windows. He cleared his throat on purpose, causing the woman to turn around.
"Good morning, Homelander," Deputy Director Susan Raynor greeted him with a bright smile. Her eyes gleamed like those of a predatory leopard catching sight of its prey.
Homelander, hands behind his back, returned her smile brightly. "Good morning, ma'am. How can I be of service to you?"
Susan Raynor chuckled. "I didn't expect Homelander to be such a gentleman."
"Of course."
"There's something I'd like your help with."
Homelander casually cast his "True God's Eye" at her.
Instantly, her inner thoughts echoed in his mind.
"Finally caught you, damn Homelander. With Compound V in hand, I'll make sure you comply!"
Compound V?
So, this woman has been in contact with Butcher?
Homelander's smile widened as he said, "What kind of help? If it's something I can do, I'll gladly assist."
"To serve the CIA would be my honor. Besides, aren't we colleagues now?"
He was referring to his position as Secretary of Superhuman Affairs.
Susan smiled slightly, but her inner voice projected into Homelander's mind:
"Ridiculous. That so-called Department of Superhuman Affairs is a completely redundant agency."
"The Minister came up with it on a whim to keep you occupied, and this clown is actually proud of it. Pathetic."
Meanwhile, Susan said, "Here's the deal: I'd like you to withdraw from the Department of Defense."
"Additionally, I hope Vought will voluntarily terminate its plan to integrate Supes into the military."
Homelander walked up to Susan, smiling brightly. "Oh? And why should I withdraw from the Department of Defense?"
"I can't think of a reason to do so."
"I'll give you a reason," Susan said firmly, pulling out a vial containing a blue liquid. She placed it on the table.
"This is your company's Compound V. Don't tell me you don't know what it is!"
"You've been claiming that Supes are chosen by God, destined to be heroes."
"But in reality, it's all a lie by your company. I'm sorry, Homelander, but you're not chosen by God. You're not special."
"If you withdraw from the Department of Defense on your own, I can keep this secret for you."
"Otherwise, I happen to have a press conference to attend. I'm sure the media will find this interesting."
Homelander took a step back. "Wow, ma'am, you're really something."
"One move, and you hit us right where it hurts."
Seeing his exaggerated reaction, Susan suddenly had a bad feeling.
Then she saw the corners of Homelander's mouth curl up into a smile, though his eyes held no warmth.
"But I refuse, ma'am."
"I refuse to withdraw."
The Deputy Director said firmly, "Very well then. It seems the world needs to know the truth about Vought and the dirty things you've done."
She grabbed the vial and headed toward the door.
Behind her, she heard Homelander's voice.
"Go ahead. But let me speculate: what kind of consequences will this revelation bring?"
