Chapter 26: Chapter 26: Everything is Ready
The kitchen was not difficult to find. It was located just below the Hogwarts Great Hall, accessible by following the stairs leading to the Hufflepuff common room.
Ian soon arrived at the stone basement corridor and found the portrait of the legendary hidden door—a painting of a bowl full of fruit.
But before he could even tickle the pear, the door opened from the inside, and a student in the ginger Hufflepuff uniform walked out.
This unexpected encounter left both of them stunned.
However, Ian reacted quickly. When he saw the student in front of him, he immediately recognized him. The other person's face was too familiar. It was the Light of Hufflepuff, the top student—Cedric Diggory.
"Good morning. I guess this is the hidden kitchen door. It seems I'm lucky to have found the right place. Ian Titus," Ian said, extending his right hand.
He felt it was necessary to get to know this nice guy who was both popular and good-looking in the original novel.
"Hi, I'm Cedric Diggory. Mr. Titus, I know you. Many Hufflepuff girls have been talking about you. They've privately rated you as the most handsome boy at Hogwarts in the past hundred years."
After the sunny Cedric finished speaking, he extended his right hand and shook Ian's in a gesture of friendship.
"I always thought only Hufflepuffs cared about the kitchen, but I didn't expect Ravenclaws to be interested too. You're in the right place. This is the hidden kitchen. Many students don't know where the kitchen is, even after seven years."
Cedric paused for a moment, then added, "Do you need me to accompany you inside? As Hufflepuffs, no one is more familiar with the kitchen than us."
"Thank you for the offer, but I'd like to explore on my own. Only by exploring the mysterious castle alone can I feel a sense of accomplishment, right?" Ian politely declined Cedric's offer. It wasn't some dangerous place that required an escort, and his purpose in coming here wasn't to ask for a sumptuous lunch.
…
When Ian arrived at the kitchen, he was still deeply shocked. It was a spacious room as large as the auditorium above, with a ceiling hundreds of meters high, making it difficult to associate it with a basement at all.
There was a huge stone fireplace, various kitchen utensils neatly arranged, and many gleaming copper pots and basins. Countless house-elves were now working diligently to prepare lunch for the students.
When the house-elves saw Ian's arrival, there was no uproar or chaotic scene. Instead, they remained focused on their respective tasks.
Yes, if every visiting student caused a commotion, Hogwarts students would probably not be able to eat many meals throughout the year.
"Bang!" Just as Ian was observing the kitchen, a house-elf about two feet tall appeared in front of him in an instant.
They were wearing their own "uniform"—a tea towel with the Hogwarts crest printed on it, wrapped around their bodies like a cloak.
The most striking feature was the pair of enormous eyes that took up one-third of their face, and at this moment, the house-elf was looking at Ian with a flattering expression.
"Dear little wizard, what can Shasha do for you?"
Looking at the house-elf, whose tone was full of indescribable humility and sincerity, Ian felt quite sympathetic toward these intelligent creatures.
But he didn't intend to change anything. Everything that happened was bound to happen, so he didn't plan to play the role of a "saint."
"I need a lot of ingredients that can be stored for a long time. I can pay for them in Galleons."
"Oh, no, no, Sasha can't take the little wizard's money. Sasha can provide the little wizard with food."
"…But if there are too many, the headmaster's signature will be required. No one can bypass this. Bad Sasha, bad Sasha! You can't fulfill the little wizard's request."
Seeing the house-elf about to start its unique self-harm mode, Ian had to stop it immediately. After all, no one with a sound mind would enjoy witnessing such a scene.
"You can go ask the headmaster now and tell him what Ian Titus wants. Don't worry, I won't leave. I'll wait for you to come back here."
"Okay, Sasha will go now." The house-elves who could Apparate at Hogwarts were extremely efficient.
After just a few minutes, there was a bang, and the house-elf returned to Ian.
"Sasha has obtained permission from the great headmaster to meet all of Mr. Ian Titus's needs and provide you with large quantities of food that can be stored for a long time."
The house-elf named Shasha snapped her fingers, and bags of potatoes, corn, onions, wheat flour, carrots, eggs, and other foodstuffs instantly appeared around her.
Ian didn't show any greed for the dazzling array of food piled up in front of him. After all, it was only for a month, and he would return to Hogwarts in the next 30 days.
So he simply took a little of everything according to the monthly consumption for two people, along with the corresponding seasonings like salt and pepper.
After packing everything into his infinitely extending backpack, Ian left the kitchen, his task complete.
"Now everything is ready, except for the east wind."
Looking at the backpack full of food, various potions, and the broomstick he had purchased long ago, Ian checked for any missing items while silently observing the countdown hourglass in his mind.
