Ch80 - Purchasing Property
Chapter 20: Purchasing Property
“Hello!”
“Kuru~”
“Kyu~”
The next day, Taichi came to the Tamer Guild, bringing Snow and Haruru with him.
“Welcome… Wait, Taichi-san!? Wh-wh-wh-wh-what is a Flower Bear doing here!? Is this the Flower Bear from the request?”
“Yes, it is. It was a good one, so I tamed it. There’s no problem with that in terms of the request, right?”
The request for the Flower Bear, which had descended from the mountain, didn’t require it to be killed. So, there was no issue with taming it instead. Shalti, while holding her head in disbelief, nodded. “Of course.”
“But this is really a Flower Bear? This is the first time I’ve seen one in person. Its face is quite cute, but how old is it?”
‘One year old,’ Snow answered.
“One year old!?”
“So, it’s this big at just one year old? Amazing,” Shalti remarked.
Snow answered Shalti’s question herself, surprising Taichi and passing the information on to Shalti. This means Snow will likely grow even larger.
(I need to hurry up and expand the café… or things might get out of hand!)
After registering Snow and Haruru as familiars, Taichi then moved on to discuss the request. He received the reward and was greeted with a “Thank you for your hard work” from Shalti.
“Well then, Taichi-san,” Shalti suddenly said in a serious tone, making Taichi instinctively tense up. Could she be about to give him some ridiculous request…!? However, his concern was short-lived.
“Congratulations on your rank up!!”
“What!?”
Taichi was taken aback by the unexpected announcement. He hadn’t imagined he’d rank up so soon, thinking he’d need to complete many more requests to contribute to the Tamer Guild.
“Uh, thank you. But is it really okay?”
(Well, not that I mind…)
Shalti chuckled at Taichi’s astonishment.
“Of course. Honestly, Taichi-san, you really don’t realize how amazing you are!”
Let me explain. Shalti raised a finger as she spoke.
“Most Tamers can’t have dozens of familiars. Even with a high skill level, the best they can do is maybe ten.”
“—!”
Taichi, thinking about how many familiars he currently had at home, decided it was best not to count and ignored that thought.
“And then there’s the strength of your familiars! Even a regular wolf has a 50-50 chance of being tamed, yet you’ve tamed the Wolf King, Luke, and now a Flower Bear? It’s unbelievable.”
“The success rate…”
It’s actually 100%, but Taichi didn’t say that out loud.
“Plus, the number of skills you have! You can communicate, cook treats, and even heal. And all your skills are high-level, aren’t they?”
“Well, I guess I do have a lot of skills, and they’re probably high-level…”
Though, in reality, Taichi had every Tamer skill with infinite levels. Of course, he couldn’t tell anyone that.
Taichi forced a stiff smile, but Shalti didn’t miss a beat and clapped her hands together.
“So, the Tamer Guild would love to see you continue climbing the ranks! You’re such a talented Tamer; we want you to aim high.”
“What!? But I’m not interested in promotions.”
As long as he had a high enough rank to freely manage his fluffy café, that was enough for him. He had no intention of taking on requests after that. Running a café wouldn’t be possible if he kept taking jobs, and there’d be no time for relaxation. He had no desire to return to the life of a corporate drone.
With that, he decided to wrap up this conversation.
“Since I’ve ranked up, that means I can buy the property and surrounding land now, right?”
“…Yes. You’re quite formidable, Taichi-san.”
“I won’t just take on random requests to climb the ranks, you know.”
“How disappointing,” Shalti said, sticking out her tongue playfully.
“Well then, let’s get started on the property transaction. As for the surrounding land, how much space would you like? The Tamer Guild owns a significant portion of land around there, so we can be flexible.”
Shalti explained that there was plenty of room for negotiation.
“Hmmm…”
Even though she asked, Taichi had no concrete idea of how much land he actually needed. In fact, he wasn’t sure how much space he’d require in the future.
(If I come across a large fluffy creature… I’d probably tame it.)
But that wasn’t his only concern.
(And if I come across a whole bunch of small, cute fluffy creatures… I’d probably tame them too.)
In short, no matter how much land he bought, it wouldn’t be enough to ensure peace of mind, as the fluffy population would just keep growing. Even now, he had Snow and Haruru added to the group.
Shalti, too, was half-worried that Taichi might end up with ten more Kolobris before long.
At that moment, a devilish thought crossed Taichi’s mind: “Why not just buy all the surrounding land?”
Thanks to Luke, Taichi had plenty of money, and buying land on the outskirts wouldn’t be too costly. Besides, just because he bought the land didn’t mean he had to immediately build anything on it or do anything with it. As long as it was his, it could just stay as it was.
After pondering for a moment, Taichi looked at Shalti.
“I’ll buy all the surrounding land!”
