Ch15 - Opening Preparations
Chapter 15: Opening Preparations
After successfully taming the Berry Rabbits for his fluff cafe, Taichi and his companions returned to the city.
The sight of the Berry Rabbits following Taichi in a line, making cute “mii” sounds, was absolutely adorable.
This time, with his Tamer Guild Card, Taichi should have been able to enter the city smoothly… or so he thought.
“Wh-what are all those Berry Rabbits?!!”
The gate guard was incredibly surprised and stopped him.
Given that there is a profession called Tamer in this world, one might expect the guard to be less astonished… Taichi thought, showing his guild card.
“I’m a Tamer, and the Wolf and ten Berry Rabbits accompanying me are familiars. If they’re familiars, it should be fine to enter the city, right?”
Since Taichi had entered the city before with Luke, he thought it shouldn’t be a problem. Moreover, the Berry Rabbits were far weaker than Luke.
However, the guard’s lips twitched.
“Well, if they’re familiars, it should be fine, but doesn’t the number you can tame depend on your skill level…?”
“Eh…”
Taichi was momentarily stunned by the guard’s words.
(My skill levels are all at infinity…)
He had thought that there would be some difference in terms of success rates or something, but it seemed that the number of creatures he could tame depended on his skill level.
“Well, they’re just weak creatures, so it’s not that big of a deal, right?”
Taichi made a desperate attempt at an excuse.
“Is… is that so? But, well, I don’t know how many you can tame at what level… Is this normal?”
“That sounds about right. You might have leveled up while taming small animals without even realizing it.”
“Well, there’s some logic to that.”
Despite Taichi’s strained explanation, the guard nodded in understanding. Relieved, Taichi headed to the Tamer Guild.
At the guild, Shalti was equally surprised but registered the familiars, and Taichi then informed the Commercial Guild about his plan to start a cafe. He returned to the cafe.
“Listen up, new recruit. This beanbag cushion is mine.”
“Mii.”
“Me!”
When Taichi returned to the cafe, Luke was lounging on the beanbag cushion, clearly loving it.
“It’s become completely Luke’s spot… Well, that’s fine.”
“This is the best!”
Taichi chuckled as Luke sniffed with satisfaction.
“I’m glad you like it.”
Since he had tamed the Berry Rabbits, they were relaxing comfortably in the cafe space. Some were lounging on cushions like Luke, while others were energetically running around.
(They’re all so cute.)
This meant he could open the cafe anytime! — or so he thought, except for one missing element: the cafe menu.
The problem was that there weren’t many types of tea in this world. No, it was more accurate to say that tea was considered a luxury item.
There were cheaper options, but the taste was… well, disappointing.
So, in this world, water, fruit water, or alcoholic beverages were the main drinks.
“It’s unacceptable for the cafe’s drinks to taste bad…! So, I’ll activate a special skill…!!”
Taichi had several unique skills, and one he hadn’t used yet was quite extraordinary.
“Alright, skill [Shopping]!!”
This skill allowed Taichi to request shopping from the cat deity he had helped in Japan.
A notepad and pen appeared before Taichi, with “Shopping List” written on it and five checkboxes.
It seemed he could request up to five items.
“Let’s see, powdered tea that only needs to be dissolved, Earl Grey tea bags, instant coffee, cookies, and chocolate.”
For the initial menu, these should be sufficient. Once he had more room, he wanted to add cola and orange juice.
“Eventually, a drink bar? That might be a bit too ambitious.”
As Taichi laughed, the notepad and pen vanished.
(Has it gone to the cat deity?)
Since it was his first time using the skill, he wasn’t entirely sure how it worked. After waiting for about a minute without any changes, he decided to start working on the menu.
“Menu, [Creation (Physical)]!”
Taichi created a wall-mounted menu to avoid having it turned into a toy by the fluffies. It was installed on the wall next to the planned counter.
Menu
Tea HOT/ICE
Coffee HOT/ICE
Black Tea HOT/ICE
Cookies
Chocolate
The menu was quite simple, but that was just right for a single-person operation.
Then, just in time, a shopping bag appeared in front of Taichi. Inside were the items from the shopping list.
There was also a receipt with the amount 2800 yen listed next to 2800 Chel.
“How do I pay?”
As he took out money from his wallet, it vanished. It seemed the cat deity had collected it.
“Uh, thank you very much! Deity!”
Taichi thought he heard a faint “meow” from somewhere.
With everything set, the preparations for opening were complete.
