Ancient Magic From The Stars

Remus POV

I knew it would take time to create a cure for lycanthropy even with the advanced knowledge of our ancestors. It was a magical disease after all, although is it really a magical disease or is it a mutation brought about by a reaction to the ambient potentia. I will have to run some tests before I attempt to synthesize a cure. I heard Hyacinth talking with Sirius which broke my concentration. "Dad can I write to Neville to see if he has some plant samples that we can upload to the scanner. It would help Uncle Moony develop his cure faster right?" She was almost bouncing with excitement at the thought of being helpful to me and I couldn't help but smile at her enthusiasm. Sirius chuckled at her before shooting me a quick look and then said to her, "Do you think we can trust the Longbottom's? If you do then maybe we can bring them in on our project I know Augusta Longbottom would be a great asset to have on our side. We might even be able to help Neville's parents Frank and Alice recover with the help of the medical beds here."

She thought for a long moment considering her options before she looked at me. I nodded at her because I could tell she just wanted a second opinion and I knew the Longbottom's were good people so I agreed with Sirius. Cinthy nodded back and then said, "I trust Neville he is a good person from what I can tell so far. He is a little shy but knows when to stand up for what he feels is right. I think we should tell the Longbottom's but only Neville and his Grandmother, his uncle sounded just awful if some of his stories are to be believed." I shared a concerned look with Sirius at her last comment but we kept silent and waited for her to continue. 

"I don't want to tell Ron or Hermione just yet though. Does that make me a bad person?" Sirius hugged her and said, "No pup it doesn't. I was going to suggest keeping it to just the Longbottom's for now anyway. I like Arthur and Molly as much as the next bloke but Dumbles is far to close to that family. I also don't know much about Ms. Granger but I don't feel to comfortable with her knowing either if her penchant for rules is a bad as you have told me pup. I don't put it past her to tell everything you tell her to Dumbles. She might have good intentions but him knowing would not be helpful to us at all right now, it might even put us in danger." Cinthy looked a little down at that but soon perked back up and smiled at us both before she said, "So can we go get Neville and his Grandma now? I want to get started on the cure." Sirius chuckled and said, "Sure pup lets go give Augusta a surprise shall we." His smirk had a hint of mischief behind it as he pulled out the portkey that will allow us to return home. 

Sirius POV

We came to the Longbottom estate just after lunch right before tea time. It's the only appropriate time to show up unannounced at someone's home to discuss business after all. Cinthy practically ran for the door and knocked on it. The old house elf Krimble answered the door just like he used to when James, Remus and I used to come visit Frank. His eyes grew larger which I find amusing due to their eyes already being quite large already, when he said, "Master Black is here with Master Lupin and Mistress...Potter." He paused slightly before saying Cinthy's name but kept a calm facade as he continued, "Please come in, I will go let the Madam knows you are here." We stepped into the sitting room to wait like we had all those years ago for Augusta to show up and greet us." 

She came in like a storm and said, "You best have a good reason for your unannounced visit Lord Black. Even if you were found innocent I will not have you come here disrespecting proper etiquette." I chuckled at the old women who is hard on the outside and soft on the inside just like Euphemia in that way and said, "We are here because for one, when I took custody of Hyacinth and blood adopted her we found a curious inheritance in her vaults that have made it possible to have a potential cure for Frank and Alice." I let my words sink in for a short moment before I continued, "And for two Cinthy is Neville's friend so she wanted to share what we have found with you and him as well as ask for your assistance in procuring the materials for not only Frank and Alice's cure but for Remus as well. Mutual assistance and benefits if you will." 

She paused for only a short moment and said, "I am assuming that we would have to take a vow to keep what you are about to say between us?" I nodded and said, "Nothing against you Augusta but what we have to show you will change quite a bit about your preconceived notions so we would like to keep in under wraps until we have things prepared. We especially would like to keep this information from Dumbledore, after what he has done to both our families I don't trust him much of at all anymore." Augusta nodded and called for Neville to come down. When he reached the room his faced brightened with what looked like brotherly affection for Cinthy as he said, "Hyacinth, What are you doing here? It's so good to see you. Would you like to go see my greenhouses?" His quick succession of questions left us all at a bit of a loss but Cinthy just chuckled and said, "Maybe after we talk Nev. I wanted to ask for you help with something, if your willing that is?" Neville and Augusta just nodded at Cinthy with a serious look on both of their faces.
