Ancient Magic From The Stars

Sirius POV 

It didn't take us long to get ready the next day both Cinthy and Remus were chomping at the bit to get to the outpost. Cinthy wants to sit in the control chair there and claim the high chancellor position before I can. She is so excited it's honestly quite cute, and how could any self respecting father say no to her when she lights up like that especially after everything she has been through. 

Remus is another story all together he is trying not to get his hopes up but his quiet excitement and the hope I am beginning see in his eyes is hard to miss. I want this cure to happen almost as much as he does, just to see him be able to be happy in his own skin again makes me smile. "Tilly I need you to get us all some warm clothes that will stand up to the Arctic chill please." Tilly popped in after my request with warm travel robes, thick wool slacks and dragon hide boots for myself and Remus. Cinthy has a travel robe as well but with wool tights instead of slacks all with warming charms on them, a lovely dress that she will probably love and dragon hide boots with a slight heel. She will look like a proper lady dressed for a day out in the cold. 'My mother would be proud' and with that thought a shiver so bone deep ran up my spine I almost choked on it and that is an accomplishment. I never want to do anything to make that harpy proud lets change Walburga Black with Euphemia Potter in my mind she was more of a mother to me than my own anyway. "Yes that sounds right." With that change in mind I got ready for the day. 

We left via an international portkey that I had made with the destination set as the last known coordinates of the outpost. I hate international portkeys they always leave me feeling dizzy and out of breath. Remus does better with them as his fury problem gives his a slight advantage physically. Cinthy on the other hand did not fair well, she collapsed almost immediately onto the snow. Remus and I both rushed to grab her knocking our heads together in the process. With a breathy laugh and after drinking a potion Cinthy said, "I'll be fine Dad, Uncle Moony I just feel a little light headed. The stomach soother potion that Tilly forced me to bring is helping a lot. She really knows how to take care of a person." Remus and I both laughed at her while rubbing our soar heads from where we smashed them together. "That she does pup, that she does. Just don't ever get on her bad side trust me on that, James and I learned that lesson the hard way and your Grandpa teased us about it for months." 

Cinthy's eyes lit up at my comment and it almost hurt to see her so excited for information on her family that she should have grown up with. With this thought my anger for Dumble's grew a little more as I pulled Cinthy up from the snow covered ground. "I'll tell you all about it sometime, I promise but for now we need to get into the outpost." I said as I kissed the top of her head noticing her disappointment about postponing her knowing more about James melt aways being replaced by her excitement for a new adventure. 

It took Remus and I a few dozen tries to locate the outpost but with a liberal use of the Revelio we were able to find the entrance to the outpost buried under a few feet of snow. It took all three of us the better part of the morning to dig out enough snow in order to reach the entrance. Cinthy walked up to place her Peverell ring on the door like she did with Potter manor in hopes of triggering a response and nothing happened. "I wonder if it is blood locked like some of the Black properties try to prick your finger and place a drop of blood on the door pup." She did as I said taking a small knife from Remus to cut her finger. It was almost instantaneous after that the door opened with a swoosh as it slid to the side. Remus jumped in front of Cinthy in almost the same instant as I pulled her behind me. Nothing happed which made Remus and I blush but I wont apologize for protecting her and am happy to see Remus feels the same. A quick Lumos let us see inside of the hallway leading into the outpost. Seeing no immediate threats we walked in, Remus in the lead with Cinthy in the center and myself behind her. This will allow us to respond from either front that way she will be safe. 

We found the room with the control chair quite easily and after checking for traps magical or otherwise I allowed Cinthy to sit it the control chair so that she could gain control of the outpost. She may be young but this is her inheritance I wont keep it from her, we are just here to help her and keep her safe. As soon as her butt hit the chair and she sat back the lights to the outpost flickered on. Cinthy gasped, I started to panic until she pulled up a map of the outpost which showed a layout of the facility and what areas were damaged beyond repair, in need of repair or still functional. I noted that the power supply of the outpost is almost depleted but that is an easy fix with the amount of crystal power cells we have. The next thing I noticed was the lit up medical labs on the map and the now flashing floor panels leading to what I can only assume is the labs. This thought put a smile on my face, looking at Remus I could see he had a smile as well. "Go, I'll stay with Cinthy. You go take a look and see if we can fix your fury problem."

Remus nodded and almost flew out of the room. I looked back a Cinthy only to see a new display it was of Remus running through the corridors following the lights into the lab as a panel lit up on the wall of the room. Remus grabbed a scanner from the wall and proceeded to scan himself which would have been imposable without the repository download. He the cut his own hand with the same knife Cinthy had used earlier and placed ten drops into the funnel at the top along with ten drops of a potion and then he waited for the results. It didn't take long before I saw Remus literally drop to his knees and sob with a grin. He looked so stupidly happy, I am also sure that if he was in front of a mirror it would have cracked with how ugly he looked in that moment. All I could do was smile dumbly as a tear fell down my own cheeks knowing I probably looked just as idiotic as the giant mutt. We were a sight to behold two full grown men bawling their brains out while laughing. If the Aurors saw us in this moment they would think we were insane or had gone dark. 

Remus came back into the control room and showed the scanner to me. It was a possible cure from analyzing his blood and the wolfbane potion. There would need to be some testing and we would need to upload samples of the magical plants we can get, but with just this Remus had more hope than he has had in years. I wonder if Cinthy would be ok with letting Severus Snape in on our plans so that he could help Remus with a cure. I didn't like the man much in the past but a decade in Azkaban will change a man. If nothing else I admired his devotion to Lily and he should at least be able to talk to her portrait for closure considering he was a spy against the moldy lord. 

Cinthy jumped from the chair and straight into Remus' arms with her own tear streaked face and said, "We will cure you Uncle Moony, I promise." She pulled back and with a shy smile asked, "But when we do can I still call you Uncle Moony instead of Uncle Remus?" This cause Moony to laugh a full and happy sound filled the room as his arms wound around her lifting her from the ground and spinning her in circles as he said, "Yes cub you can still call me Uncle Moony even after I don't howl at the moon once a month." Cinthy and I both lost it with that comment as we joined Remus with our own laughter. I rushed the two of them wrapping my best mate and my daughter in a celebration hug.
