Chapter 228: Chapter 226: Temporarily Leaving Supergirl's World and a New Member of the Birds of Prey
The flash of the camera clicked repeatedly aboard the Disciple as Su Sheng captured the images of Siobhan Smythe in various states—first as the Silver Banshee, and then as herself, both clothed and unclothed. After the impromptu photoshoot, Su Sheng dismissed Siobhan Smythe, still reeling from the whirlwind encounter. He told her to get dressed and leave. Through the Disciple's advanced systems, Su Sheng quickly transferred the shares of Kate International Media into Siobhan Smythe's name—her reward for her "efforts."
Over the past few days, Siobhan Smythe had made quite the fortune, nearly a million dollars plus the ownership of shares worth hundreds of millions more. For many, this would be a dream come true. In a world full of superpowers and aliens, the power of wealth still held undeniable sway.
Su Sheng glanced at the photos he'd taken, considering who was next on his list. Thea Queen of Earth-1, Lois Lane, the Black Siren of Earth-2, and even Jesse Quick hadn't had their moments captured yet. He smiled, thinking about his unfinished business. Alura, Kara's mother, also came to mind. If the troublemaker didn't show up soon, it might be time to visit some of them.
The past several days had been quiet, with Martian Manhunter and Alex handling minor issues in his absence. Kara, meanwhile, was on a well-deserved vacation in Argo City, enjoying the break from her usual duties.
With a flash of light, Kara Zor-El—Supergirl—appeared before him, having just returned from Argo City.
"How was your vacation?" Su Sheng asked, his arms wrapping around her waist.
"It was amazing! The best vacation I've ever had," Kara beamed, her hands sliding around his neck. "Fiola and Aunt Astra are doing great. They've even taken on the responsibility of guarding Argo. I told my mom all about you."
"Oh? What did she say?" Su Sheng raised an eyebrow.
"She said, as long as I'm happy, that's all that matters."
Su Sheng chuckled softly but said nothing more.
"Anything happen while I was gone?" Kara asked, sighing with relief.
"Nothing major."
"That's good. I should get back to the DEO," Kara said, half-heartedly.
Before she could leave, Su Sheng pulled out a bracelet and fastened it around her wrist.
"What's this?" Kara asked, curiously examining it.
"It's a communicator. No matter where I am, in any universe, we'll always be able to stay in touch." Su Sheng smiled, explaining how it worked.
Kara's smile faltered. "Are you leaving? Are you going to another universe?"
"Don't worry, it's not as big a deal as it sounds. Traveling between universes is like going abroad for me—it's easy and quick. I'll be back before you know it." Su Sheng reassured her with a grin. "Besides, I've still got a few things to take care of in my universe. There's also Superman to keep an eye on, and don't forget about the potential threat of a troublemaker. If anything happens, let me know right away."
Kara nodded, though she didn't seem completely reassured. "And what about… them?" She gestured towards the shrunken Argonaut City.
Su Sheng placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. "You've handled things fine without me before. This won't be any different."
Kara nodded once more, but instead of heading back to the DEO, she lingered with Su Sheng. She spent the rest of the day exploring the Disciple, eventually leading them both to the bed—though by the end of the night, the bed and room were in ruins. The aftermath of their "adventure" was scattered everywhere, including a layer of frost coating the walls from Kara's accidental use of her freeze breath.
The next morning, Kara returned to her duties at the DEO. Everyone there was happy to see her back, including Alex. As she caught up with her sister and recounted the joys of her vacation, Kara noticed Lucy Lane standing nearby, looking somewhat distant.
"Is something wrong?" Lucy asked, sensing Kara's gaze.
Kara hesitated for a moment, then shrugged it off. "It's nothing. Su Sheng just mentioned a couple of things before he left. He thinks Superman might be up to something and told me to watch out for a troublemaker. Oh, and he's gone… to another world."
Lucy blinked in surprise. "Gone? Why did you tell me this?"
"You're the director now. You should know." Kara lifted her wrist, showing the bracelet. "He gave me this communicator so I can reach him, but if you need him, just let me know."
With that, Kara turned and walked away, her mind briefly flashing to the photos Su Sheng had shown her in his collection—photos that included Lucy. Kara hadn't mentioned it at the time and wasn't about to bring it up now.
Earth-1, Star City
In the underground base of the Birds of Prey, the air was thick with tension. Felicity Smoak was nestled comfortably on Su Sheng's lap, still basking in the aftermath of their passionate encounter. As she leaned against his shoulder, Felicity smiled lazily.
"Where have you been all this time?" she asked, her fingers lightly tracing his chest.
"Looking for some fun. I'll have to show you around sometime," Su Sheng grinned. "What about you? Has Catwoman come back yet?"
Felicity shook her head. "She's made some new friends in Gotham and seems to have forgotten about us."
Su Sheng chuckled. "So it's just you and Laurel holding down the fort?"
Felicity grinned mischievously. "Not exactly. I tried to reach you earlier but couldn't. We've recruited two new members while you were gone."
Su Sheng raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "New members?"
Felicity nodded, a sly smile on her lips. "Oh, you're going to love this…"
PS: Back on Earth-1, things are heating up. New members are joining the Birds of Prey, and the Suicide Squad plotline is about to kick off!
