Chapter 21: Skye Drops Out of School! Relaxing by the Riverside!
By the Hudson River, the surface shimmered with light as white swans leisurely glided across the water.
In a quiet spot, a young man and woman sat at an iron table and chairs by the riverside.
The girl, around seventeen years old, had a delicate and charming face, creamy beige skin with a slight yellow tint, and mixed-race features.
She wore a simple and clean-cut jacket, looking much more conservative compared to the breezier women passing by on the street.
The man was also very handsome, and if it weren't for the beautiful girl beside him, women would likely have approached him to chat.
However, his demeanor seemed rather casual, as if not much could concern him.
"So, you dropped out of school because of this?"
Ye Li sipped his juice noisily, occasionally tossing breadcrumbs into the river beside him, attracting a few swans to dip their necks and peck.
"Darling, don't look at me like I'm some kind of delinquent."
Skye tapped on the keyboard of the laptop in front of her. "I've learned everything I need to. I don't want to waste my days at school anymore."
"I know you're a genius."
Passing the juice to Skye, Ye Li asked, "So, what's your plan now?"
Skye looked at the half-finished juice handed to her, nonchalantly stuck out her delicate pink tongue, hooked the straw over, and took a sip.
"Mmm Spend a few days at the club first, then pursue more extraordinary things! Or perhaps..."
At this point.
Her bright, dark-brown eyes looked at Ye Li. "Or become someone's little lover?"
Perhaps this wasn't a question.
Ye Li slid his hand under Skye's coat, wrapping it around her firm waist. "You should know I..."
"Gwen and Jessica, right?" Skye tapped a few final keys on the keyboard, and as a loading bar appeared on the screen, she ignored the computer, twisting her waist and pressing her soft body against Ye Li. "Maybe I was born to be a bad girl~"
"You don't seem like it."
Ye Li gently stroked her cheek, enjoying the silky feel, and asked softly, "Did something happen?"
Although being a lover in the States isn't a big deal, Skye isn't that type of person.
Skye gazed at him emotionally. "Li, you really are just as Jessica said—always so understanding at the right moments..."
No, in fact, I just received a system task...
Ye Li was a bit puzzled too.
From his observations, Skye was still an ordinary person, so what kind of reward would completing the task bring?
Just loading a hacker module?... Well, that would be fine; at least it's a decent intelligence-gathering skill.
Ye Li wasn't too concerned.
At first, his interactions with Skye were motivated by the idea of system rewards.
But now his thought was—this girl's great; I want her.
Bold.
"I recently learned something from my mom."
Skye started summarizing to Ye Li what had happened to her recently.
"Although she's clearly hiding a lot from me, I've faintly gathered that there might be something different about my body."
"Until I went to a professional institution for testing and discovered..."
Discovered she had superpowers? Why can't I tell—Ye Li instinctively thought.
But what Skye said was different from what Ye Li had imagined.
Skye's eyes became watery as she wrapped her hands around his neck and said sorrowfully, "I seem to be infertile, Li... You won't dislike me for it, will you?"
Uh, what.
Is this really a concern for a blossoming young girl?
Ye Li was also a bit surprised.
Infertile?
Could it be because Skye is a hybrid of Inhumans and humans?
Like how a horse and a donkey produce a mule... Okay, that comparison is quite disrespectful to Skye.
It seems she thinks of herself as a girl with genetic defects.
I must step up at a time like this.
"Of course not."
Ye Li suggested, "If you don't have anything to do for now, how about becoming my assistant? You know~"
Skye blushed, "You like playing this kind of game, huh~"
Whether there's an assistant or not doesn't matter.
What matters is that a beautiful assistant can do other things~
As for Banner, that rough guy, he slipped away not long ago, probably because he ran into something.
"Although I really want to agree with you, Li."
Skye slowly leaned closer to him, the distance so close that a gentle breeze could close the gap.
She revealed a bright smile and teased, "But your sister already made her move~"
What?
Ye Li thought back.
Recently, Jessica had indeed been quite close to Skye...
Poor sister, could it be that she was finally turned by a female fan?
He shuddered. "Skye, could it be that you and Jessica..."
"Pfft~" Skye smiled smugly. "What are you thinking? She wants to hire me as her assistant at the club, a paid position~"
"So that's it. I thought..."
Ye Li breathed a sigh of relief. Being cuckolded by his sister was too scary—scarier than... well, never mind.
No wonder Jessica had been pestering him for pocket money recently, even sacrificing so many pairs of stockings in various styles for it.
