Chapter 20: S.H.I.E.L.D. Takes Notice! Treating Kingpin as a Boss Farm!
On the other side.
The corpse of Rhino was taken away by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.
Coulson reported the incident to Nick Fury, "Do we need to send someone to approach the girl who calls herself the female knight? We've already identified her through facial comparison."
Nick Fury casually replied, "Hmm, you can send someone to investigate."
He didn't think much of Jessica, considering her just a fledgling girl.
As the head of S.H.I.E.L.D., he had seen plenty of superhuman beings, and even some non-human anomalies.
Coulson then asked, "Should we inform Natasha?"
"Coulson, do you have some misunderstanding about our agent levels?"
The one-eyed man looked up, "Natasha has more important tasks. The information shows this girl, Jessica Ye, is just a high schooler at Midtown High. Are you planning to play house with her?"
Coulson hesitated, "But she's still a superhuman. Data analysis shows all her metrics far exceed ordinary people, especially her strength, conservatively estimated at over 800 pounds."
Coulson, being a Captain America fan, knew well that even Captain America could only bench press 1,200 pounds (545kg) and clean and jerk 800 pounds (363kg).
"Mikhailovich, the Rhino, was even stronger, yet he was still torn apart into pieces."
Nick Fury's expression turned serious. "I think we should pay more attention to that Black Spider."
"This Black Spider appears too rarely, and his counter-surveillance abilities are strong. His suit seems highly advanced, capable of isolating almost all information," Coulson said, after checking the records and finding nothing useful.
Nick Fury squinted. "There must be a connection between Black Spider and Ghost Spider. Almost every time he appears, it's in a situation involving Ghost Spider."
Coulson recalled something and reported, "That girl Jessica opened a Ghost Spider fan club. I'm not sure if it's pure admiration or something else. Also, Skye, who the agency is monitoring, joined the club. I stopped by to take a quick look before but didn't have time to investigate thoroughly."
"Coulson, are you reminding me to give you a vacation?"
"That's not what I mean. Although, it would be nice to have a vacation," Coulson said, rubbing his balding head.
"You'll get your chance, Coulson."
Nick Fury gave him false hope, then handed over some intel. "Before that, here's a mission for you."
"Alright."
Coulson, knowing he was destined for a busy life, took the mission without complaint. "What about the Ghost Spider club?"
Nick Fury pondered for a moment and thought of an agent. "Inform Barbara and have her investigate this."
...
Time flew by again.
It had been a few weeks since Norman Osborn's body went missing.
Due to Norman Osborn, the situation at Oscorp was dire.
Harry, still just a high schooler, found it hard to take charge despite being exposed to it from a young age.
The board was deeply divided, and interim chairman Harry's authority was largely undermined.
Many of Norman Osborn's previous research projects were halted, including Connors' lizard gene transfer research.
These days, Peter often helped Connors or visited Harry at Oscorp, leaving little time for the club or hanging out with his best friend Ned.
However, Ye Li paid little attention to these matters as he was now leaving Hell's Kitchen.
Ye Li had successfully caught Kingpin here and gave him a "lesson" about not littering.
At the same time, he dealt with several super-criminals under Kingpin's command but spared Kingpin himself.
Keeping Kingpin alive might lead him to hire more super-criminals from Spider-Man's world, giving Ye Li more "bosses" to farm.
The system's random rewards were always relevant. Even if the opponents weren't strong, luck might still bring good rewards.
Ye Li had previously gained the ability Weather Control from Rhino, which motivated him to work harder.
Of course, the news of Tony Stark's disappearance in the Middle Eastern desert a few days ago added a bit of urgency to Ye Li's plans. But the arrival of the "Purple Titan" was still a long way off.
Beep—
Ye Li answered the phone, "Hello, Skye... What? You dropped out of school?"
