Chapter 17
In reality, the relationship between me and Saioji was more of a partnership, but since I was technically a member of the adventurer team that Saioji led, I explained that I was working as Shizuku Saioji’s subordinate in an employer-employee relationship.
Chairman Ryugen stroked his chin thoughtfully at my words.
“What exactly is my daughter doing on the other side of that gate?”
“On the other side of the gate lies a different world—a fantasy world where swords and magic exist. She has formed an adventurer team there and is actively engaged in various activities,” I explained.
Akira-san and the two large men in black exchanged glances, their expressions suggesting they were skeptical of my story.
“Another world… It’s hard to believe, but with this strange phenomenon called the Moon Gate in front of me, I suppose I have no choice but to accept it,”Chairman Ryugen conceded.
“…So that’s why the sleeping gas I released into the backseat didn’t work—because of some kind of magic from another world,” Akira-san mused.
“Something like that,” I replied vaguely, even though my resistance to the sleeping gas had nothing to do with magic from another world—it was just my natural resilience. However, explaining that would only cause more confusion, so I left it at that.

“So, you can come to this world, but since you don’t have a legal identity here, you can’t get a job. You can’t earn money, so you’re asking for my help. Is that right?” Chairman Ryugen summarized.
“Yes. My contract with your daughter stipulates that I provide her with Japanese goods in exchange for her support in the other world… Asphial,” I clarified.
Originally, my purpose in contacting Saioji was to gain her support, given her established position in Asphial, and to conduct business in that world.
However, during the planning stages, it became apparent that I had very limited means to procure goods from Earth. Essentially, I was an illegal immigrant in Japan without a legal identity, making it impossible for me to work.
I was only able to order a few things online through Kida-kun, who was well-versed in the internet, while helping out around Akane Village. But even that took a lot of time and effort, and my only way to earn money was through the unreliable method of assisting the elderly in the village.
Both Saioji and I recognized the urgency of the situation, so we decided to reach out to her parents, who were likely worried, and explain that I needed help to operate more freely on Earth.
“You can’t keep the gate open all the time, can you?” Chairman Ryugen asked.
“No, the cost of keeping it open is extremely high. It’s difficult to maintain the gate continuously and connect a wired cable through it,” I explained.
The skill I possess,
Crossing worlds is indeed a form of great magic, but when I tried connecting a borrowed device called a ‘smartphone’ from the Asphial side, there was no signal. And while connecting a wired cable instead might seem like an alternative, it’s nearly impossible to keep the Moon Gate open long enough for such a setup. Sending letters back and forth remains a much more feasible option, with far less cost.
“Hmm, I understand the basics of your ability. I’ll give you a smartphone of your own before you leave. Could you use it to take some photos or videos of my daughter?”
“That shouldn’t be a problem. Your daughter seemed interested in learning more about Japan as well,” I replied.
The smartphone—a small, flat mobile device—was something that didn’t exist in my time. However, after learning how to use it, I found it quite fascinating.
With this, I could take not only phone calls but also capture high-quality photos and videos. I was asked to use it to record proof of Saioji’s well-being, which Chairman Ryugen and the Saioji Group would then use to provide their full cooperation.
“It might take a little time. We’ve recently relocated our base, so things are a bit chaotic at the moment,” I warned.
“There’s no rush. I’ve taught my daughter what it means to be a leader of the Saioji family. In a new world, where she must be cautious, there’s no point in rushing and neglecting the foundation,” Chairman Ryugen replied calmly.
It seems that such teachings are known as “imperial education” in some circles.
After answering a few fatherly questions about how Saioji was living in Asfial, I returned to the other world.
