Allen the Reincarnated Merchant: A Plan to Get Rich in Another World

Chapter 16

As I swallowed hard, Chairman Ryugen pulled out a letter with a rustling sound.

It was the letter I had written at Shizuku Saioji’s request.

“The content of this letter is written in a code that only members of our family can understand. Moreover, the address it was sent to is a top-secret one that leads directly to me. Only someone from the Saioji family or a high-ranking member of the group would know about it.”

He seemed to be genuinely amused, shaking the letter slightly as he spoke about how surprised he was when he first received it, believing it to be from someone impersonating his daughter.

“…I see. That’s why Saioji was confident,” I murmured.

“Considering the postmark, it wasn’t too difficult to narrow down your location. A tall Westerner in the remote village of Akane? You were bound to stand out,” Chairman Ryugen continued, as I mentally agreed with his reasoning and waited for him to continue. By this time, Akira-san, who had been with me earlier, had appeared at my side without me noticing.

“The person standing there, Akira, is my daughter—Shizuku Saioji’s personal attendant. She originally worked as a maid in our main house, but after Shizuku’s disappearance, she worked hard and is now trusted as a full-fledged security officer.”

“…Chairman Ryugen, are you sure this man really knows where Miss Shizuku is?” Akira-san questioned.

From maid to security officer… I had already suspected she wasn’t an amateur after the way she handled that gun earlier, but this was quite the impressive background.

Chairman Ryugen then continued to explain how his daughter, Shizuku Saioji, had suddenly disappeared about three years ago after school one day. Despite their extensive efforts—using everything from surveillance cameras to the private investigative teams of the Saioji Group and the police—they could find no trace of her.

(…A private investigative team? Wow, the Saioji Group really is something.)

The Saioji Group, now a massive multinational corporation, has strong influence not only in Japan but across the globe. Their business spans a wide range of industries, including IT, real estate, railways, and automobiles, as well as foundational industries like metalworking, electricity, and oil. They are said to have hundreds of affiliated companies.

(…Wow, Japan sure developed a mega-corporation while I was dead.)

“Given the Saioji family’s status, it was only natural to take precautions, like guarding against potential kidnappings. Shizuku was somewhat aware of this, but she had dozens of guards watching over her from a distance.”

Well, with a corporation whose assets easily exceed a trillion yen, there would certainly be plenty of unsavory characters looking to take advantage. So, Chairman Ryugen had hired guards to protect her regularly.

(Of course, she was transported to another world. How could they protect her from that?)

“It was like she vanished into thin air,” Chairman Ryugen explained, though I knew the real reason for Shizuku Saioji’s disappearance was because she had indeed been spirited away to another world.

However, I knew better than to expect them to believe that if I told them outright.

“Then, when I was at a loss, I received this letter, handwritten by my daughter. It asked me to cooperate with someone she referred to as her ally. When I first read it, I nearly jumped out of my skin,”Chairman Ryugen said, exhaling dramatically in relief as he recounted the story. Even though he hadn’t yet found his daughter, the mere fact that he had a clue made him visibly relieved.

His demeanor and expressions made him seem almost like an actor in a stage play.

“By the way, is there any chance this room is being bugged or recorded?” I asked.

“There isn’t. This conference room can’t be seen from the hotel across the way due to the angles, and the area is secured with guards.”

In that case, it’s safe, I thought, and decided to use my skill. I activated the skill and opened a Moon Gate right there in the conference room.

“…This is truly surprising,” Chairman Ryugen murmured.

Out of nowhere, a door covered in a white mist appeared with a sudden whooshing sound. Instinctively, the two burly men in black and Akira-san, who were standing beside me, moved to react. However, Chairman Ryugen raised a hand to stop them.

“This is a gate I created using my power. Through this gate, you can reach the place where Chairman Ryugen’s daughter is,” I explained.

“…What are the conditions for using this gate?” he asked.

“The condition is that it cannot transport living beings. Currently, I’m the only one who can pass through it.”

“May I touch it?” he asked.

“Of course,” I replied.

Chairman Ryugen, clearly intrigued by the Moon Gate that had appeared in the conference room, reached out to touch it. Akira-san made a slight movement to stop him, but he ignored her and touched the gate I had created.

“Hmm, it looks misty, but when I touch it, it feels like a smooth, flat slab of marble,” he remarked, rubbing his hands over the gate.

The two bodyguards, who had been watching him with concern, eyed Chairman Ryugen nervously. Akira-san, who had looked ready to fight earlier, seemed flustered as she watched her master touch something so mysterious.

“Chairman Ryugen, your daughter is on the other side of that gate. And I am working as her subordinate in that other world,” I explained.

And with that, I decided to reveal a portion of my power.
