Chapter 33
In the evening, after everyone had finished washing up, they gathered in the dining room. A screen had been temporarily set up on one of the walls by the production team.
Lou Yiwen and Ou’er Bai, who both had poor eyesight and had been exhausted after a long day, chose seats closest to the screen without wearing their contact lenses.
On the other hand, Chi Jing sat furthest from the screen, with Jiang Yucheng sitting next to him.
The person closest to them was Gan Heyu, who, being the oldest and suffering from presbyopia, was positioned nearest to the screen.
Chi Jing lounged lazily in his chair. The hard and uncomfortable wooden chair soon made him feel tired.
He was about to change his position when Jiang Yucheng moved closer.
“If you’re uncomfortable, lean on my shoulder,” he offered.
Chi Jing glanced at his shoulder, decided not to be too fussy, and found a comfortable position to lean on him.
Lu Tao was busy overseeing the live broadcast setup. When he looked up to inform everyone that the broadcast was about to start, he saw Jiang Yucheng and Chi Jing leaning together.
His words suddenly caught in his throat.
Turning his gaze, he saw Ou’er Bai and Lou Yiwen arguing loudly and nearly hugging in their quarrel.
Lu Tao:?
He then looked at An Boqing and Shen Yixing, the two celebrities he had hired to increase the show’s popularity, who were originally brought on to stir up the show with their fake romance.
They were sitting far apart, their expressions stiff as if they were being tortured rather than recording a show.
Lu Tao:……
A staff member reminded him, “Director Lu, the live broadcast is ready.”
He snapped out of it, cleared his throat, and announced, “Ahem, the live broadcast is about to start. Everyone, get ready.”
Lou Yiwen and Ou’er Bai quickly withdrew their hands from each other.
Chi Jing, hearing the director’s voice and not wanting any issues during the recording, also adjusted his position to lean back on the uncomfortable wooden chair.
Not very comfortable.
He pressed his lips together, and Jiang Yucheng draped his arm over the back of his chair, allowing him to lean on it.
“The camera can’t see us,” he said, noticing Chi Jing repeatedly looking back.
Since the camera couldn’t capture them, he leaned in comfortably.
The live broadcast began.
Shen Yixing was assigned by Lu Tao to act as a temporary host. As soon as the broadcast started, he put aside his previous gloom and took on the role of the perfect worker.
“The live broadcast has started. Everyone, say hello!”
Chi Jing waved his hand casually among the greetings from others and fans.
【Finally arrived!】
【Still at work, watching the broadcast in the bathroom. Earning money while hiding out is the best】
【Hubby, I’m here!】
【Can Chi Jing move away from my husband?】
【Ready for some gossip】
Chi Jing pulled out his phone to read the comments and noticed one asking him to move away from Jiang Yucheng. He raised an eyebrow and showed it to him.
Jiang Yucheng covered the screen with his hand and whispered in his ear.
“Don’t worry about them.”
He was an actor and didn’t care about fans who tried to interfere with his work and company’s operations.
His actions of leaning close to Chi Jing’s ear were clearly captured by the camera, causing a storm of comments.
【Why did the production team invite such a morally bankrupt person like Chi Jing?】
【What is Extreme Entertainment thinking, letting my husband be on such a show?】
【Some of the fangirls need to calm down. It’s obvious Jiang Yucheng is the one moving closer】
【Don’t say anything, they’re going to lose their minds again】
【Ignore those crazy fans. Rational fans don’t care, and Jiang Yucheng will get married eventually】
【It feels like they just finished recording and are broadcasting it so quickly】
【We focus on broadcasting while recording, so there’s less editing time and it’s more real】
【Yes, real arguments. Last time Ou’er Bai and Lou Yiwen fought at the travel location, shocking】
【The fans are still fighting now, not sure if it’s gotten any better】
Ou’er Bai and Lou Yiwen, also keeping an eye on the comments, noticed the discussions and quickly managed their expressions to hide their discomfort.
A staff member reminded them, “The playback is starting now.”
The first clip was of everyone meeting at the hotel with the limited budget provided by the production team.
Chi Jing’s expression remained unchanged as he watched the others comfortably complain about their choices and discomfort.
Ou’er Bai and Lou Yiwen were straightforward in expressing their unwillingness to endure hardship, while An Boqing pretended to be considerate of the last person to arrive.
“I calculated, and there’s still enough for him to take the bus,” An Boqing said with a sigh. “If I weren’t so far away, I could have left him more.”
Chi Jing snorted softly.
In the live broadcast, An Boqing’s fans immediately posted supportive comments.
【Aw, An Boqing is so considerate】
【Such a good baby】
But other fans or viewers mocked these comments.
【LOL, leaving two bucks for bus fare is considered considerate?】
【If he’s so considerate, why didn’t he choose a cheaper way to get there?】
【So annoying. I hate working with such colleagues, didn’t expect to encounter this on a show】
【I never thought An Boqing was this annoying, just thought he was a bit pretentious】
Soon, fans came out to defend.
The show continued, and the comments kept rolling in as the live broadcast moved forward.
