Chapter 32
Chi Jing missed his magical spells immensely, but he couldn’t use them in the human world.
In terms of physical strength, he couldn’t match Jiang Yucheng either.
He looked at Jiang Yucheng’s smiling face, mentally repeating a hundred times that he wouldn’t argue with him, and turned to store the grievance in his heart.
Considering that people downstairs were still waiting, he took a very quick shower and didn’t bother to dry his hair. He carried a towel, wiping his hair as he descended the stairs.
Gai Heyu had just placed the last dish on the dining table and then naturally took the main seat.
When he saw him coming down with wet hair, his white eyebrows nearly furrowed into a single line.
“Not taking care of yourself at all.” Gai Heyu, shaking his beard, scolded with frustration, “Your body and hair were given to you by your parents. Not taking care of yourself is disrespectful to them! Understand!!!”
Chi Jing lazily nodded, “Got it, sorry to trouble you.”
Gai Heyu was taken aback, seemingly surprised by his straightforward admission of fault.
His eye wrinkles twitched twice, and he softened his tone: “Come and eat.”
Chi Jing felt his hair was almost dry and casually draped the towel over a chair.
The table was laden with dishes as if they were dining in a restaurant.
Gai Heyu moved the most carefully prepared dishes—light yet appetizing—to Chi Jing’s side, then snorted arrogantly, “You’re lucky. I haven’t cooked for years!”
Chi Jing ignored his remarks and eagerly grabbed his chopsticks, eager to try the food.
“Chi Jing.” Jiang Yucheng’s voice appeared beside him, and a hand rested on his shoulder.
“Get up, dry your hair.” Jiang Yucheng’s voice seemed to be suppressing some irritation.
Chi Jing’s chopsticks hadn’t touched the food yet.
He glanced back: “There’s heating in the room.”
Jiang Yucheng: “If you don’t want to catch a cold again.”
Thinking of how uncomfortable he had felt while sick, Chi Jing hesitated for a moment before getting up to dry his hair.
The hairdryer in the guesthouse was in the bathroom, and as soon as he entered, he could hear footsteps following him.
Without needing to look back, he knew it was Jiang Yucheng.
“Give me the hairdryer.”
He handed the hairdryer to him.
He leaned against the sink, pulling out his phone to pass the time, lowering his head so he could dry his hair.
Chi Jing was replying to a message.
【Chi Yu: Sick? How about I come to take care of you?】
Chi Jing wasn’t surprised that Chi Yu knew about his illness. Before recording the show, he had overheard his brother, who he had only met a few times, discussing investment issues with Lu Tao on the phone.
However, he still refused Chi Yu’s offer to come over.
【Chi Jing: No need, I’ve recovered from the fever.】
【Chi Yu: So quick?】
Although it was only four characters, he sensed a hint of disappointment.
【Chi Jing: …Dad, this isn’t a game.】
He really didn’t trust Chi Yu’s ability to take care of others. When he had brought him back to the Western Fantasy World and lived in the Dark Palace, the priority had been just to stay alive.
【Chi Yu: Baby doesn’t believe in Dad…】
【Chi Jing: Yes.】
【Chi Yu: Okay, Dad is sad.】
Chi Jing: …
He didn’t continue replying to him and instead took a screenshot of the chat and sent it to his other father, Tang Zhengqing, with whom he had never had a conversation.
After doing this, he locked his screen and looked up at the mirror.
Perhaps it was because he had just recovered from illness, his eye corners still had a pink hue.
Behind him, Jiang Yucheng’s lips were pressed together, and his expression was colder than usual.
Chi Jing tilted his head in confusion. There were no cameras in the bathroom, and the recording equipment had been turned off by him.
So he directly called out his name.
“Jiang Yucheng.” he smirked, casually lowering his head, “What are you upset about?”
Jiang Yucheng stopped his actions.
Chi Jing: “Worried about me?”
He looked at Jiang Yucheng leisurely: “You wouldn’t… have fallen for me, would you?”
The bathroom was so quiet that one could hear a pin drop, and outside the wooden house, the howling of the wind in the snowy weather was audible.
After a minute, or perhaps three minutes, he didn’t keep track of time.
He saw Jiang Yucheng’s expression soften like spring snow melting, and his lips curled slightly.
“Yeah,” he nodded thoughtfully, “Seems like I have fallen for you, what should I do?”
His tone carried a hint of teasing, clearly mocking him.
Chi Jing remained silent, staring intently at his eyes.
Jiang Yucheng’s acting was so good that he couldn’t tell whether he was joking or speaking the truth.
After a while, Chi Jing, feeling a bit frustrated, lowered his gaze.
“Forget it, I dislike talking to you.”
He tensed his shoulders and directly pushed him away, “Stay away from me.”
He took a step but was pulled back by Jiang Yucheng’s hand on his wrist.
“Angry?” Jiang Yucheng flipped him against the door, chuckling and burying his face in his neck, his shoulders shaking with laughter.
Chi Jing pushed him but didn’t use much force.
“Why do you like acting so much? Why come to record a variety show?” Chi Jing said flatly.
“Wrong, sorry.” Jiang Yucheng admitted quickly, not arguing further.
“Hmph.”
“I won’t do this again. Are you not angry anymore?”
Chi Jing fell silent, looking down at him, who was leaning on him with a half-smile.
“Next time, dry your hair before going out.”
“Got it,” Chi Jing moved his shoulders, “Get up, I need to eat.”
Jiang Yucheng: “Let’s go.”
The two of them went downstairs to eat.
Seeing Chi Jing come down with Jiang Yucheng, An Boqing and Shen Yixing had strange expressions, while Lou Yiwen and Ou’er Bai remained unaffected.
An Boqing cautiously probed, “It seems like Jiang Yucheng and Brother Chi are very close?”
Jiang Yucheng was serving soup for Chi Jing and didn’t respond to him.
Chi Jing, on the other hand, reacted. After tasting the dish he most wanted to eat and feeling happy, he responded to An Boqing’s probe.
“You’re younger than me?”
An Boqing, who had changed his age several times and had been mocked by netizens for it, was at a loss for words.
“Not really…”
“So, you’re lower in status than me?”
He was a bit anxious: “Mr. Chi.”
No longer calling him Brother Chi.
Chi Jing leaned back in his chair, looking quite relaxed: “Don’t call me that randomly next time.”
An Boqing: “Sorry…”
Jiang Yucheng glanced at him and added a piece of fish belly to his bowl.
An Boqing’s face changed colors, but he merely cast a resigned glance at the camera.
Knowing the director Lu Tao’s style, such controversial footage would certainly be kept. Once aired, his fans would definitely get revenge for him.
Thinking of this, his expression finally relaxed a bit.
After dinner, Ou’er Bai and Lou Yiwen took over the task of cleaning the kitchen and pushed Chi Jing, who wanted to help, out of the kitchen.
Ou’er Bai, with her curly hair tucked behind her shoulders, said gently, “You just got over being sick.”
Chi Jing: “The fever’s gone.”
“I know, but I can’t let the haters find fault with me.” She smiled warmly, “So, you should go rest. I’ll handle this.”
Lou Yiwen nodded in agreement, sharing the same view as her.
Chi Jing: …
It’s tough for those in the entertainment industry to avoid criticism from haters.
He didn’t insist on helping.
He was once again measured for his temperature by Jiang Yucheng on the sofa.
It was 37.4°C, still a bit of a low fever, but much better compared to the previous 39°C high fever.
The days in the small house grew darker much earlier, and as Chi Jing leaned on the sofa, feeling drowsy, Lu Tao brought them the program task.
The previous episode had been edited with overtime, and they needed to watch it live with the audience.
