After Being Abducted and Raised by A Snake

Chapter 14

Facts had proven that bargaining with the black snake was not a wise decision.

Otherwise, it would sit on the ground, raise the price, try to push into his face, insert its scarlet and slender cold snake tongue deep into his throat, and mess around…. but he couldn’t refuse.

Watching Wan Zhong, the black snake licked more and more vigorously. It closed its pair of green vertical pupils and wanted to wrap its tail around itself, looking intoxicated by the delicious food. Wan Zhong hurriedly smiled, ran away, and said, “Okay, okay, I will play with you later.”

He went into the hole and wiped his mouth, secretly glad that he ran fast. He was almost eaten by it!

Wan Zhong hiding in the dark, secretly watched the black snake. He saw it lying there for a while, dragging its tail listlessly, and twisting and turning up the tree. Then, he went to get the tools he needed from the black snake’s treasure pile.

They were all made of pure gold and were heavy.

Wan Zhong put the dagger and hammer aside first, put the gold bucket into the pool to get a bucket of water, but he still overestimated his weak body.

Seeing his waist sinking and his arms falling, he felt weak and was about to be dragged into the deep invisible pool by the current, when a black snake’s tail appeared across the sky.

The black snake knocked the heavy gold bucket out of his hand and rolled him back quickly.

“Ah~”

Wan Zhong, who almost fell into the pool, exclaimed softly, watching the black snake tail filled up the dropped bucket, used the tip of its tail to roll up the dagger and hammer on the ground, put them into the bucket, and rolled them up. Then dragged it out of the cave.

Wan Zhong leaned against the stone wall and panted heavily. He was stunned for a long time and then followed him out.

The black snake was still lying on the tree looking in the mirror. Its long snake tail extended to the entrance of the cave. The full bucket of water was swaying around, but not a drop was spilled.

“Thank you!”

Wan Zhong thanked it sincerely and wanted to mention it, but the back of his hand was slapped by a thick and cool snake’s tail.

Wan Zhong guessed the black snake wanted to help him and tentatively pointed to the cliff: “Could you please put it there for me? Thank you.”

Then the bucket of water, illuminated by gold and sunlight, turned golden, and was lifted through the air onto the cliff.

Wan Zhong couldn’t describe his feelings at that time. He felt that if the black snake continued to be kind to him, he might develop Stockholm Syndrome.

Wan Zhong pinched his palms and reminded himself repeatedly: T’he black snake is not your owner, and you are its food reserve. Your goal is to make it develop feelings of friendship so that it won’t be willing to eat you.’

After confirming this, Wan Zhong breathed a sigh of relief and came to the cliff, preparing to make a sundial.

This was actually something that should have been done a long time ago.

Back then, he always pinned his hopes on rescue and had no intention of doing anything else except being terrified every day.

Now that he was mentally prepared to stay here for a long time, he wanted to improve his living environment as much as possible to pass the long boring time.

.

The stone was originally on the cliff.

It was large and tilted, and the front side could be illuminated by sunlight all day long. The sword that the black snake inserted earlier was right in the middle of the stone.

Good materials for making sundials were readily available.

After Wan Zhong sprinkled water on it, he polished it bit by bit with a hammer and dagger. It took nearly half a month to polish the entire stone surface smooth.

He used his dagger to carve concentric circles around the sword blade inserted in the middle of the stone, and then divided the circle into twelve equal parts of even size, and then carved out the twelve hours of the day.

Such a simple sundial was ready.

But Wan Zhong did not intend to call it a sundial because his work was too rough. Even if a real sundial couldn’t be accurate to minutes and seconds, it could still display solar terms and months, which was much more sophisticated than this one.

However, Wan Zhong was still very satisfied with the finished product.

With it, he could judge the approximate time based on the shadow of the sun and would not just rely on the darkness and dawn to get through the day. Although its shortcomings were also obvious, it couldn’t be used when there was no sun, such as on cloudy days and at night. But it was better than nothing, right?

Wan Zhong named it Sword Clock.

Because it could tell time, and it used the sword that the black snake used to cut his meat.

It was very useful, and Wan Zhong thought the name suited it well.

.

When the last ray of sunset slipped away from the cliff, the sunlight fell on the sword body, and the shadow stopped at about 20:00.

“It turns out that the sun sets so late here…”

Wan Zhong discovered after observing it through the sword clock for several days.

On a desert island, the days were long, and the nights were short.

The daily sunrise was around 5:00 dawn. Sunset was around 20:00 in the evening.

Wan Zhong didn’t know which season the active sun’s trajectory at this time should be, nor was he sure if there were other seasons here.

He had been on the desert island for so long. The climate here was stable, the wind was calm, and the sun was shining every day, and the temperature difference between morning and night was not particularly large. Not to mention the wind and rain, there was never even a cloudy day.

Wan Zhong lowered his eyebrows and thought for a moment, then used a dagger to carve ‘summer’ next to the times of 5:00 and 20:00 on the sword clock. For now, Wan Zhong could only deducted it was summer time.

During this period, the black snake had been lying quietly behind him. Observing Wan Zhong in silence.

The sinking sunset casted down the rays of light, slanting down to cover the pale and thin man. Even though he was emaciated and ragged, he still couldn’t hide the beauty engraved in his bones.

‘I really want to kiss him and hug him. And wraps around with tail around him day and night…’

The black snake spat out snake tongue. It had no way to express its thoughts and silently looked in the mirror.

Wan Zhong raised his face slightly to welcome the last ray of light, watched the sunset on the horizon, and praised himself: “Very good, I have lived another day.”

At this moment, the sky was decorated with beautiful variegated colors. Although there were many colors, they did not look dirty at all but looked strangely clean.

Wan Zhong threw away the dagger in his hand and fell backward. Unexpectedly, a cold and slippery tail caught him. The strength was steady.

Wan Zhong glanced sideways, and as expected, the black snake’s tail was right behind it, as if it was always ready to catch him.

While Wan Zhong continued to lean back and put all the weight of his body on the reassuring black snake tail, he lamented in his heart that habit was really a terrible thing.

Back then when he was touched by the snake’s tail, he would get goosebumps all over his body, and he wanted to faint immediately. But now he would suffer from insomnia if he didn’t hold it or ride it while sleeping.

Wan Zhong rested on the tail of the black snake, hugged the tip of its tail with his hands, laid on the cliff, and looked at the beautiful fire clouds in the sky, and murmured to himself: “I really hope that I can still see such a beautiful sunset tomorrow.”

The black snake spat out snake tongue, lowered its body, and licked the corner of its spouse’s lips.

It also wished.

Tomorrow he could still touch the tip of its tail, enamored by it, and called it handsome.
