Chapter 16 Vampire

Marceline laid on the floor shivering as Betty and Linda hovered over her. The two spirits were greatly concerned for Marceline.

"We need to do something." Said Linda.

"Maybe I could go into Simon's mind and tell him what's going on and he could help." Said Betty.

"You could, but you wouldn't be able to tell him where we are and you couldn't lead him here." Said Linda sadly.

"You're right. Ah! I've never felt so useless! We can't do anything! Marceline is suffering and all we can do is watch!" Cried Betty as she flenched her fist.

"Maybe...we can talk to Marceline. Those vampires were able to see and perhaps hear us. Marceline is turning into one, so maybe she can hear us." Said Betty as she looked down at Marceline with sadness in her eyes.

Linda began sining and Betty joined in.

I know life is tough and you're going through a tough time

But don't give into the darkness and despair

Inside the mind of Marceline, she dreamed that she was in some kind of forest and she heard the beating of wings behind her followed by a large screech. Marceline looked up and saw a large bat like creature with red eyes flying towards her. Marceline screamed and ran for her life. In the distance she saw something glowing and ran towards it. As she reached she saw that it was a little campfire being tended to by Simon.

"Simon? What are you doing here and what's going on?" Asked Marceline looking confused.

Simon stood up and faced Marceline with a sad smile on his face.

"I'm not the real Simon. I'm simply your mental image of him. I represent kindness and wisdom." Said Simon.

"What?" Asked Marceline.

"We're in your mind Marceline or to be more specific your very soul and I'm afraid your in danger." Said Simon.

There was a screech from the bat creature in the background and the forest seemed to grow darker and the fire seemed to die down a little.

"What's going on?" Asked Marceline with a freaked out look on her face.

"Alister bit your neck and turned you into a vampire. Now his evil is trying to wipe all your willpower away and make you into his obedient servant." Explained Simon as he tended to the fire.

"Is...that fire you're tending to my...will?" Asked Marceline.

"It is and when it's gone I'm afraid the darkness will consume and corrupt you completely." Said Simon sadly.

"This...can't be happening." Said Marceline as the bat creature let out a roar that sounded closer and the forest grew darker.

Suddenly there was a new sound of two women singing. Marceline looked around confused.

"Mom? Betty?" Said Marceline.

"It seems like you're not alone. There are people who still care about and they are urging you to hang on and keep fighting." Said Simon.

"They're still looking out for me." Said Marceline. "Tell me is there someway to fight this evil?"

"There is. You must go into the fire." Said Simon as he indicated the fire.

"The fire?" Asked Marceline as she starred at the fire nervously.

Marceline didn't want to get burned. Simon looked at Marceline.

"The way I see it you have two options. You could either give up and let this darkness consume you or you can step into the fire and continue fighting." Said Simon.

"But...what if I'm not strong enough?" Said Marceline with fear in her eyes.

Simon walked over to her and hugged her.

"You are strong enough. Don't ever doubt yourself. You survived all these past hardships, you can beat this. I believe in you." Said Simon as he kissed Marceline's brow.

"Thank you." Said Marceline as she faced the fire and stepped into it.

The feeling of the fire wasn't what Marceline had been expecting. It wasn't hot or burning, but warm and gentile. Marceline felt stronger and more confident. The bat creature appeared before charging and screeching. Marceline tightened her right fist for a punch.

"This is my soul and you're not welcomed here!" She shouted as she threw a punch with her clenched fist right into the bat creatures face!

The bat creature let out a dying screech as it exploded into a bright golden light. The forest became lighter and more clear. Simon smiled at Marceline.

"You did good Marcy. You did good. And I'm proud of you." Said Simon.

"So what happens now?" Asked Marceline.

"Now you wake up." Said Simon as he touched Marceline forehead.

Marceline woke up in the wine cellar. The first thing she noticed were the spirits of Betty and Linda floating above her.

"Mom? Betty? I can see you now." Said Marceline as she looked at the two spirits.

"Can you hear us?" Asked Linda.

"I can and I heard your song telling me to keep fighting." Said Marceline.

"That's good. How are you feeling?" Asked Betty.

"I feel ok. A little cold, but ok." Said Marceline as she stood up.

Marceline wobbled on her legs a little, but managed to stand straight. Now she just had to figure out what to do next. Marceline was so lost in thought that she didn't notice herself rising off the ground until, she hit the celling. Marceline let out a yelp of pain as she looked up at the celling in confusion, she then looked down and saw that her legs weren't touching the ground. Betty and Linda floated next to her mouthes opened in shock.

"I'm flying!" Sputtered Marceline in amazement.

"Ok. Marceline calm down and focus...on the floor." Said Betty.

Marceline took a deep breath and concentrated. A few seconds latter she was on the ground.

"Ok I'm a vampire...and I can fly." Said Marceline as she took this new information in. "Maybe I can bust out of here and take those vampires on?"

"Wait. Let me and Betty do a little scouting first. We going to see what useful information we can learn from watching the vampires. Will be right back." Said Linda as she and Betty flew off.

Marceline took a sit and looked at her hands in wonder.

Betty and Linda floated through the church, until they found themselves in some kind of dinning room. Three vampires sat around a table eating what appeared to be red candles and apples. The vampires would put a candle or an apple to their fangs and they would making a sucking noise sucking the red color and turning the candles and apples white.

"Man I'm sick of this junk? When are we ever going to get blood and wine?" Complained one vampire.

"That stuff is saved for the King and Queen, you know that." Hissed another vampire.

"Yeah I know. I just can't wait until we have more territory and supplies, then will be living like kings!" Said the first vampire.

"Yep. It's only a matter of time." Said the second vampire.

The third vampire just grunted in agreement.

Betty and Linda exchanged a look stratified with this knowledge and flew off back to the wine cellar.

In the throne room Alister and Elsa were drinking their wine. A frown suddenly appeared on Alister's face.

"What's wrong my king?" Asked Elsa.

"I sense a disturbance." Said Alister.

"Is it our latest recruit. Surely she must have given into your evil and has become our servant." Said Elsa.

"Perhaps. But I think we should go check on her when we're done we our wine." Said Alister.

"Oh will just have Siegfried and the guards bring her up." Said Elsa with a wave.

The two vampires went back to their wine drinking.

In the wine cellar Betty and Linda appeared before Marceline and explained what they learned.

"So I can survive by eating red things. Interesting. Well it beats sucking blood." Said Marceline.

"What should we do now?" Asked Betty.

"Now we escape. Let's see how strong I am now." Said Marceline as she walked to the door taking a few practice swings with her fist.

On the outside of the door Siegfried and two other vampires were lounging about. One of the other vampires was leaning against the door, until it suddenly exploded outwards sending itself and the vampire flying down the hall and crashing into the stairway. The luckless vampire that had been sent flying was impaled through the heart by a banister. The vampire screamed as it disintegrated into a pile of ash.

Siegfried and the remaining guard just stood there stunned as Marceline walked out of the cellar looking at her fist in amazement.

"Whoa! I really don't know my own strength." Said Marceline as she looked at her fist in amazement.

Siegfried quickly took charge.

"Alert the masters! I'll deal this whelp!" Bellowed Siegfried to the other vampire.

The vampire quickly ran down the hall and up the stairs. Siegfried faced Marceline cracking his knuckles.

"Rematch time pal." Said Marceline as she faced Siegfried.

Siegfried charged forward swinging a fist at Marceline that would have sent her flying, if she had stood still. Marceline sidestepped the fist as it flew by and smashed through a wall. Siegfried looked bewildered at Marceline as, she slammed her fist into his face! There was the sound of cartilage breaking followed by a holler of pain. Siegfried staggered back clutching a bent and blooded nose.

"How can a recently turned...vampire like you, have so much power?" Demanded Siegfried as he glared at Marceline.

"I'm just full of surprises." Said Marceline with a tiny smirk.

Siegfried roared angrily and hurled himself at Marceline. Just when he was about to make contact, with her, Marceline took to the air and Siegfried sailed forward and crashed into the stairs with a thud and laid moaning on the ground. Marceline landed on the ground and looked at her stunned opponent. It was only a matter of time before Siegfried got back up. Marceline needed to end this quickly. She searched her memory for what she knew about vampires and saw a broken banister laying nearby. Marceline knew what to do. She picked up the banister and faced Siegfried as he was getting up and turning to face her. Marceline trusted the broken banister and stabbed it into Siegfried's chest!

Siegfried stared at Marceline with his eyes wide and his mouth open in shock. Siegfried turned grey and crumpled into a pile of dust.

"Well that's one vampire down." Said Marceline as Betty and Linda flew up beside her.

"Let's get out of here." Said Betty.

"No. I'm finishing this." Said Marceline.

"What are you talking about?" Asked Linda.

"I'm taking these creeps down." Said Marceline as she headed for the stairs.

"Why?" Asked Betty.

"If we leave them like they are they'll spread. The world already has enough problems. For all my life I've been running, but not anymore. I have the power to stop these guys. I doing this to protect the world and Simon from them." Said Marceline as she headed up the stairs.

"I guess you have a point. Just be careful." Said Betty.

"And if things start really getting bad run. Ok." Said Linda.

"I'll be careful. I have no intention of dying. I promise." Said Marceline as she made her way to the throne room.

In the throne room Alister and Elsa sat in their thrones surrounded by several vampire servants. Marceline marched into the room and faced the two vampire monarchs.

"So you finally turned into a vampire, yet you somehow managed to fight off my evil influence and keep your individuality. Impressive." Said Alister.

"Yeah I did. Now I. Here to stop your plans!" Said Marceline as she pointed a finger at them.

"Why do you care what we do to the world? It's basically in ruin, were just trying to fix it and make it better." Said Elsa.

"Better for you and your kind you mean. The world already has enough problems it doesn't need a bunch of vampires to fix it and take over. The two of your of you are just self centered creeps, who only care about themselves!" Said Marceline as she spat at the ground.

The vampire servants looked like they were about to spring forward and attack, but Elsa raised her hand and stopped them. The Vampire Queen stood up from her throne and starred Marceline down.

"You insolent brat. You dare insult the rulers of a superior specious. I will personally deal with you and when I'm done you will curse your mother for giving birth to you." Said Elsa as she walked towards Marceline and stood before her.

"Let her have it Marceline." Said Linda as she clenched her fist.

Marceline flew forward throwing a punch, Elsa dodged it and slammed a fist into Marceline's back. Marceline screamed in pain and threw an elbow at Elsa. Elsa stepped back and Marceline charged at her throwing several punches. Elsa dodged them all with ease and then she delivered a powerful blow to Marceline's gut knocking the wind out of her and making her crumble to her knees.

"You're strong for a recently turned. It's a shame that you didn't succumb to my husband's influence. We could have really used somebody like you in our ranks. But you sided with your pathetic human half. Your mom must have been a weak pathetic women." Gloated Elsa.

Marceline felt her blood boil. How dare this vampire talk and insult her mother! Marceline's hand shot and grabbed Elsa, by the leg. The Vampire Queen looked down at Marceline in annoyance. Marceline clenched her other hand into a fist and swung it at Elsa's face! As the fist got closer to Elsa it grew three sizes bigger, before slamming into her face sending her flying and smashing through a wall on the other side of the throne room!

"Nobody insults my mother!" Shouted Marceline.

The vampire servants stared at Marceline in shock as Alister studied Marceline with interest. Marceline flew out the hole to continue her fight with Elsa. The Vampire Queen was getting to her feet, with a large bruise on the right side of her face that was slowly healing. Marceline glared at her opponent, she so badly wanted to crush her. Marceline felt a strange sensation go through her body as if her body was changing shape. Marceline's eye turned bright blue as black hair sprouted over her body and she grew two large bat wings. In a matter of seconds Marceline had transformed into a giant ten foot tall bat creature. Marceline looked down at herself in awe.

"Ok. This is pretty cool." She said in her regular voice.

Elsa glared at the transformed Marceline.

"So that's how you want to play it huh? Fine two can play at that game!" Said Elsa as she began to transform.

Elsa's eyes turned yellow as she transformed into a giant grey furred bat creature.

"I'm going to tear you apart!" Shouted Elsa as she charged at Marceline.

The two giant bats slammed into each other in a tangle of fur, claws, and fangs. Alister floated outside the church in his throne followed by the vampire servants to watch the fight.

At first the fight seemed pretty evenly matched. Both Marceline and Elsa were matching each other blow for blow. Finally Elsa changed the tide of battle by shooting forward and sinking her fangs into Marceline's shoulder. Marceline screamed in pain as she fell to the ground. Elsa closed in on Marceline licking blood from her fangs.

"Time to end this." Said Elsa with a twisted grin.

Marceline reached behind herself for a weapon, she managed to scoop up a handful of dirt and a crucifix tombstone and hurled it at Elsa. Some of the dirt hit Elsa's right eye blinding that eye, while the crucifix tombstone hit her in the chest. As soon as the crucifix tombstone touched Elsa's chest it made her chest burst into flames!

Elsa screamed in pain as she battered at the fire and clumsily took flight above the church. Marceline took off after her, slamming both her fists into her and sending her crashing towards the church below. Elsa ended up being impaled in the chest on the church's spire!

All the vampire servants stared open mouth at the sight of their defeated Queen. Alister stared at his wife as she trashed around trying to get herself off the spire. Finally her struggling stopped as she changed back into her human form. Elsa looked over at Alister.

"I'm sorry my King." Gasped Elsa before she turned grey and crumpled to dust leaving nothing behind but her crown.

Alister felt his rage boiling as he clutched the arms of his throne, until they shattered in his hands. He stood up his eyes turning bright red as steam emitted from his body. Alister glared at Marceline with cold fury.

"You just took someone very important to me. I will make you suffer before you die!" Shouted Alister as his body began to change.

Alister transformed into a giant thirty foot tall bat creature, with dark fur. Alister grew a forked tail, tusk and horns. He was truly a nightmarish sight to behold.

"Oh...this is bad." Said Marceline as her eyes widened in horror.

"Behold the true terror of my power!" Boomed Alister as he flew towards Marceline with incredible speed and slammed a massive fist into Marceline sending her smashing through the church and into a storage room filled with various items.

Marceline changed back into her human form moaning. It felt like everything hurt! Marceline grabbed hold of a nearby table with a goblet on it and pulled herself up. Alister walked towards the church changing into his human form as he walked towards Marceline. Betty and Linda hovered over Marceline talking franticly.

"Marceline you have to get out of here!" Exclaimed Linda.

"You can't beat this guy! You have to run!" Exclaimed Betty.

"Isn't that cute the little spirits are telling you to run, they must be some pathetic friends or family of yours. Don't worry You'll be seeing them real soon in the afterlife, once I rip your heart out." Said Alister as his right hand changed into a clawed hand.

"That's...my mom...and my stepmom you're talking...about. They are...not pathetic." Breathed Marceline as she glared at Alister.

"Like I care. You've caused me nothing, but trouble and now you will die." Said Alister with a sinister grin on his face.

Betty looked desperately for something that could help Marceline, her eyes landed on the goblet that seemed to have water in it. It was a desperate gamble, but the only one they had.

"Marceline grab the goblet and throw it's contents at him!" Shouted Betty.

Marceline grabbed the goblet and hurled it's contents at Alister. The goblet was filled with holly water and it splashed right into the right side of Alister's face! Alister screamed as the right side of his face burst to flames and started smoking!

The Vampire King stumbled out of the church and collapsed onto his knees clutching the right side of his face. He glared up at Marceline, with his one good eye.

"You...got lucky Abadeer. You survived this round, but if our patches cross again I will kill you!" Vowed Alister as he vanished into a cloud of black smoke.

"You..to creep." Moaned Marceline as she leaned against the table.

The vampire servants looked around confused not sure what to do. They then decided to scatter and go their separate ways.

Marceline saw a red table cloth and sucked the red out of it feeling much better.

"Not bad." Said Marceline.

Linda floated up to Marceline with a frown on her lips.

"Don't every do something that reckless ever again Marceline!" Said Linda.

"Relax...I'm ok I won." Said Marceline trying to sound confident.

"You...were lucky. Both Elsa and Alister would have surely killed you if it wasn't for the environment and luck being on your side. You won't be so lucky next time." Said Betty.

"I...guess you're right. That was pretty reckless and stupid. Mom. Betty. I promise to be more careful and plan things ahead." Said Marceline.

"I just want you to be safe Marceline." Said Linda.

"I know mom, but ever since Betty died protecting me, I've felt so useless. When I got these awesome vampire powers I thought I could make a difference and protect others for a change." Said Marceline.

"Marceline what happened to me wasn't your fault. It's a parents duty to protect their young. So don't blame yourself for what happened. I love you." Said Betty.

"And you are capable of making a difference. You didn't need powers. The powers just gave you a confidence boost. It's you who are special Marceline not your powers. I love you no matter what." Said Linda.

"I love you both." Said Marceline with a smile as she walked through the cemetery.

Marceline spotted something on the ground and picked it up. It was Elsa's crown. Marceline put it on.

"I'm Marceline the Vampire Queen." She said as she took a little pose and let out a little laugh.

"That has a nice ring to it." Said Linda as she and Betty joined in the laughter.

Elsewhere miles away Alister was in an old abandon movie theater with a black cloth wrapped around the right side of his face. The King of the Vampires was furious with his injuries and the loss of his queen. One way or another, he would have his revenge.

Alister became aware of another presence nearby by. He turned around and saw a short figure in a red cloak and a red and white mask. Alister sensed dark energy emitting from the figure.

"Who are you?" Demanded Alister.

"I am Crimson and I've come to make you an offer King of Vampires." Said Crimson.

"What kind of offer?" Asked Alister.

"A chance of revenge and a chance to rule." Said Crimson.

"The world?" Asked Alister.

"The universe." Said Crimson.

Alister smiled a little.

"Alright you have my attention. Tell me more." Said Allstar.

A new hero was formed and a new evil alliance was forged. A battle for the universe was slowly in the making.
