Chapter 20: 20. Training starts! Jake's acceptance and the development of Haki
POV: OMNISCENT
It was a beautiful sunny morning, especially with the little cloud cover. It wasn't the annoying type of sun that made one hot, sweaty, and bothered but the nice one that would make one want to take a nap outside while appreciating the beauty of nature.
[ Heavy breathing sound ]
The birds were chirping happily and there was a gentle breeze along the grasslands on this very day, a slow smooth breeze that made every blade of grass sway in a gentle dance, even the trees shocked slightly and the birds fluttered away, chirping slightly in their melodic song.
[ Heavy breathing ]
Right now during this very peaceful morning, stood a structure in the grasslands that had existed for ages and would exist for ages to come; a weeping willow tree, but this structure was still of little importance compared to what was happening at this very moment.
[ Heavy breathing ]
A young child, with striking blue eyes as well as short blonde hair was running around the tree house with full extreme focus. His serious face showed the level of focus he had and his steady pace was impressive considering the number of laps he had gone.
The child looked slightly exhausted as his clothes were completely soaked as he pushed himself for who knows how long.
But his motivation persisted for several factors one of them being the encouragement his brother was giving him.
" Go Finn Go! You still have three laps left! " Jake shouted. One arm formed a huge fist which he waved around while the other was in the shape of a microphone.
Yes, the very cute child working out was him, Finn Campbell!

POV: FINN THE HUMAN
There was a point during his last lap where every background noise disappeared as he focused on completing this last lap of his.
It was a very normal occurrence actually during this occasion, putting your everything into the last lap to finish faster. Some would call it a state of flow but Finn had referred to it as a last form of adrenaline before he took his rest.
He was very exhausted, but that was okay, this was his last lap of twelve, and the fact that he was only slightly tired spoke of how far he had come, it also said how impressive this new body of his was.
As he had come to know over the past one and a half weeks, he surprisingly had very good stamina despite his young age. His healing capabilities were surprisingly good with how quickly he got better after every workout.
Was this something natural or just special to Finn, it was something he felt should be studied. Maybe his genes had mutated in certain ways that he was unaware of.
Maybe it could also be because he was a reincarnation of a catalyst comet. That fact had to have its advantages.
Or maybe this was the advantage of being a protagonist.
" You did it Finn, good job. And this time I didn't have to throw any water balloons at you. " Jake said as Finn finished his last lap and sat on the ground taking deep breaths.
The water balloons were something he thought of that helped him not only cool off but also prevent him from getting distracted in thought. As he had come to realize, sometimes his head was just in the clouds.
The balloons were also originally meant to train his observation haki but they weren't doing much of a good job.
Jake quickly approached with the glass of cold cloud lemon juice as he quickly rubbed away the sweat from Finn's head.
The fastest way to quickly regain stamina is a cold glass of cloud lemon juice!
" Thanks, Jake"
Finn quietly took the glass from Jake and gulped it down, he then took a satisfied exhale and thanked Jake.
He had already grown used to the zappy feeling the drink had on his taste buds.
The first day he asked why it was like that and was told it had the tears of a cloud had shut him up instantly.
How someone would harvest a cloud, magic!!!
Finn quickly realized that he should simply accept such explanations and move on. No matter how strange something was in this world.
" Thanks for the cheer, Jake. " Finn said happy to be done with the workout. He was also happy that Jake had stopped looking at him weirdly as if he had grown an extra head just because he wanted to work out.
" No prob dude. " Jake said casually but behind his casualness, there was a hint of curiosity as well as doubt.
Jake had been there when Finn had started exercising. And he had been in full support of it.
He had thought it would be the normal scenario of Finn casually swinging his sword around, growing tired of it, and going back to being lazy but this time Finn was serious. Too serious in fact.
He had seen Finn being so dedicated these past few days that Jake even wondered if it was Finn! Could this have been an impostor?
And Jake was sure it had all started the day Finn got that head injury from that stupid crying mountain. And that book appeared all of a sudden, could that be the cause?
He had noticed Finn would spend long hours with that book, even during bedtime!
And Jake being the responsible older brother he was, decided to ask if everything was okay.
Maybe his little bro was going through something traumatising and he was unaware of it and that was something Jake would not have.
But Finn had proven him wrong. Jake was even more surprised when Finn said that he was taking the adventuring thing seriously and would need a good base for his future adventuring.
And the good thing was that it was Finn! No impostor.
Jake was even more proud when he heard that. He felt like an old mother as he saw Finn acting and talking so maturely.
It was one of the most proud he had ever felt. And Jake had not shed any tears in secret as he talked about how quickly they grew up.
Really!
But Jake still partially blamed the strange floating book somehow.
He felt Finn's change was partially caused by it.
' Stupid book with cool ninja powers! '
But Finn's changes so far had shown no negatives and that fact eased his worries.
The following days had shown Finn taking his workout very seriously, to the point that Jake worried he might harm himself but Finn had surprised him once again.
No matter how exhausted he was from his workouts, he would bounce right back the next day and get right back into it. He always knew he was a strong kid.
Jake had been as supportive as he could be during this period. Preparing the best meals for quick energy replenishment and helping Finn collect parts to build a massage chair for faster recovery.
That had been one of the best ideas Finn had heard and it had Jakes's seal of approval.
He was just happy that Finn was doing something he enjoyed.
Maybe even he should start working out . . . Nah, his stretchy powers were good enough!
No, his stretchy powers were the best. Working out would be pointless. Maybe he should do it to pick up some cute girls.
" Hahahah. "
Finn looked at Jake weirdly but offered no comment. He had grown used to such times when Jake would laugh hysterically and had learned to not question it.
The last time he asked to be told about the joke had resulted in Jake being grumpy for a couple of hours.
And it was not Finn's fault, the joke was just bad!
But Finn felt the exhaustion disappear from his body partly due to his capabilities and partly due to the drink and he felt satisfied.
His physical training was going smoothly and with the added help of the Nomicon, everything was looking good.
The Nomicon had even praised his talent. Calling him a natural prodigy and Finn could only agree. Even he was impressed by his capabilities.
His ninja training was progressing slowly as it required him to be of sufficient body strength for it to begin and all he had done was to grow used to the weapons he would make use of as well as navigate the environment inside the Nomicon.
The other thing that progressed slowly was his Haki training. It wasn't as fast as he thought it would be and that was why Finn said it was slow.
So far he had realized he had progressed more with observation haki than the rest, which was surprising as he thought armament would be the easiest for him.
Even with observation, he was barely sensing the emotions and intent of others before he would start feeling exhausted, an effect called spiritual drain as the shogun had told him.
The shogun had said for Finn to make use of armament haki would at least require a strong body and that was the main reason Finn put so much importance to his physical training.
And with conquerors Haki. . . Finn would have to simply wait for it to happen again.
But he was very curious despite all the waiting he knew he would have to do.
Was the last time he used Conqueror's haki a fluke?

Sorry for the late release, the chapters was supposed to drop yesterday.
A/N
Jake's suspicion but final acceptance, have been shown a little, and yes, about one and a half weeks have passed since he read the Nomicon, and Finn has started his training.
Something I would like to point out is yes, Finn is a prodigy in a sense, even before he joined with Leo. He has shown to be extremely good with a sword, has high stamina, good healing abilities, and a lot of will or determination, and with the addition of Leo into the mix, things have just gotten better for him. And don't also forget he still had the Nomicon at his disposal, so things will be generally going smoothly for him.
