Chapter 16: 16. The dojo, a Kabuki face, and the red samurai
pov: Finn the human
What happened next was a truly disorienting experience. Like a fever dream. Lacking any sense at all.
Like his soul was suddenly sucked from his body and pulled onto a roller coaster ride.
It was like he had suddenly been thrown through a sort of wormhole as the images of the number nine written in a cursive form filled his vision, as well as kanji and other writings.
The next set of images as he went further through the wormhole was even more confusing and provoked a state of confusion in his mind.
First, there was a sort of battle between different poorly dressed ninja individuals and big-looking demonic creatures, while at the same time, letters in kanji appeared in the background, swirling in a confusing pattern.
Then there was a change in the images to a sort of image of waves crashing away the battle, and then it changed once as a piece of paper came in front of his face, and words started to appear on it.
[ The beginning of a journey is just as important as its end. ]
Finn agreed with what the Nomicon was saying.
But he was still confused as to why it was telling him this at this very moment.
Was there something he missed? Or had he somehow messed up in his journey for it to start dropping on him some wise sayings?
The words in front of him suddenly vanished with a smoke-like texture with a pop, and a woman's head with Kabuki makeup appeared from the smoke.
The Kabuki face then took a breath and blew him away with a visible gust of air.
Finn dropped from where he was rested, passing once more through a sort of wormhole with Kanji written words as he face-planted on a sort of wooden mat.
Although he felt no pain from the fall. He guessed it was probably because this was all a mental thing or something.
Looking around, Finn could say he had landed inside what was most probably a Japanese dojo due to its architectural properties.
Which mostly comprised of Sasami mats, easy-to-open sliding doors, and translucent paper windows.
Most of the dojo itself was decorated with a red number nine throughout its walls and pillars
It also had torches with blue fire acting as a source of lights hangingiaroundound the hall itself.
In front of Finn, once again, a sort of screen appeared, and it started projecting what had happened during the day and his confrontation with the Hooligans who love candles.
From his inability to use a sword to how he thought of a better strategy and summoned a shock ball from the Comicon.
It then moved to show how he had gotten distracted by the praise from the two ladies and eventually how he was almost ambushed by two of the hooligans and was finally saved by Jake and an attack from the Ninja Nomicon.
The image projected disappeared once more and the words the Nomicon had said earlier once more appeared.
[ The beginning of a journey is just as important as its end ]
The words surrounded by the Nomicon with circles were beginning and important, and that once again made Finn go into a sort of Deep thought.
Thinking over his actions as he thought more specifically about his actions while Dealing with the Hooligans who loved candles.
What mistake had he made this early on that the Nomicon saw it fit to drop him its wise advice?
" The beginning and the end, huh? I think I get it. " Finn at least believed he had understood what the Nomicon had wanted to say to him.
Earlier, he had wanted to start this new life of his in a rush, only thinking about the results while what he did right now at the moment was the most important.
The nomicon from what he understood was saying that he should take his time at this early moment and not rush things.
It probably also wanted him to train at this early time and get stronger now before things got too hard later.
Finn would have probably figured that out on his own at some point but it was probably better that he had learnt it now.
The reason for this was obvious. Earlier, while he was dealing with the Hooligans who like candles, without the help of the Nomicon, would have probably been badly injured, and he could have even been forced to use his sword, which could have resulted in unnecessary deaths.
Which Finn preferred to avoid.
But all this had made Finn learn something else. Something that he had already believed was true.
The Nomicon was conscious in some way, and it was also able to see everything he saw.
'A conscious book' The thought sounded funny in Finn's mind.
What other way would it have to know how he handled the hooligans who loved candles?
" Okay Nomicon, I got it. I'll dedicate myself to starting my training early. So now show me what you got."
The words finally puffed away from the paper projector after Finn believed the Nomicon was satisfied with what he had said.
The mat he was standing on cracked, and from it arose a huge samurai figure. Its eyes, mouth, and nose were bleeding out an extremely red light, and it had an imposing yellow sword on its back.
Finn especially liked its armor with how cool and imposing it looked. Mostly the decorative parts.
" Finn Campbell, you are found to be worthy of not only wealding the awesome powers of the ninja but also being able to have another power bestowed to us by the goddess of love. The power of Haki! "
Finn was surprised the shogun figure was aware of the goddess of love.
But she did say she had modified the ninja's power to better suit him.
The fact that the Nomicon did not come with the mask made him a little confused, but he believed that was a problem the goddess had also solved.
"Inside the Nomicon is a wondrous realm where the impossible is made possible."
"This place allows whatever you imagine to come to life!"
And it will be in these places that your training as a proper hero and ninja will take place. " The shogun said.
Following its words, the area came to life with drawings of different ninja-dressed individuals making use of different weapons, using strange skills and abilities such as a fire attack and stealth, and even making use of haki like the use of conquerors Haki to knock down a large number of demonic looking drawing monsters and armament haki to fight a Chinese dragon.
" The question is, ARE YOU READY? "
These images only made Finn more excited the more they showed.
How could he fail if he had all this at his disposal? How could he not become not only the best hero but also the best ninja the world had ever seen?
He couldn't fail to do so when he had all this.
So, to the shogun's question, there was only one answer Finn could give. No, there was only one answer Finn allowed himself to give. Because it was the only one that fit the moment.
" Let's do this! " Finn was smiling. Smiling because he knew he was already winning.
