Chapter 57: Foundation
Sora spent the entire day excited, training constantly. His progress was a little fast despite how incredibly weak his talent was.
And it was all thanks to his comprehension.
He understood and knew the perfect ways his body is supposed to be moving. The most effective way to train and get the best results, and completely comprehended the Basic Strikes Technique.
In other words, Sora had not only completely understood the Theory and every little detail, but even refined it and improved it by many folds. It was now the job of his body to put it to practice and pour that understanding into his flesh and bones.
Increasing the control and familiarity with the Basic Strikes Technique.
When delving into the Basic Strikes Technique, Sora understood another thing.
Foundation. It is incredibly important and whether he has no talent or all of it, these basics will greatly benefit him in the future. As the saying went, with carelessness and a weak foundation, one cannot build a grand and mighty building. Building a grand palace begins by laying down the bricks one at a time steadily, with the utmost dedication and care.
Every move Sora practiced, he made sure to focus on doing it properly and steadily. He didn't rush and neither did he decide to practice a much stronger martial art from the get go. He now understood the importance of a solid foundation, and he is planning to make the strongest and most impervious foundation there ever existed.
If he can master the Basic Strikes Technique, learning and performing more complex strike techniques in the future will be much easier.
…
In the end, Sora practiced until it was night, a happy smile on his face as he did so. His heart and spirit was full of joy, but it was also tranquil and as calm as a still lake. Free from impurities and waves, or of any disturbance.
With a smile, Sora ended his training session and went into his family home. He went to shower before heading straight to bed.
He closed his eyes and went straight to sleep.
***
As soon as Sora closed his eyes and entered his meditative sleep, Sora suddenly found himself in what appeared a dream.
In a large wide grassland, Sora found himself at a picnic with everyone he knew. Midnight, Mina, Momo, Toru, Ochaco, Toga, Nejire, Tamaki… they were all there, even his mother, Eri, and Eve.
He was eating and chatting happily with them all. Enjoying the atmosphere and cool breeze of the wind and the nice warmth of the sun.
"Baby, you're amazing," Akira said as she hugged him and planted a kiss on his lips.
She let go, and Sora was then hugged by another figure, Toga. She hugged Sora and kissed him as well, longer and sensually than Akira. "You're my Hero~"
Eve was next… and then Nejire… Midnight… Ochaco… Mina… Momo… Toru…
Luckily Tamaki wasn't a part of that.
Sora smiled as he looked at all them and it was finally Eri's turn as she ran up to him and hugged him tight. She had a smile on her face, but the second Sora blinked, the look on her face changed and she was now crying.
"Don't go Papa!"
His body shook and he frowned, feeling bad as he looked at Eri's crying face. Looking up, the same sad and crying faces were on everyone's faces. They were crying loudly, as if he was going to die or had disappeared.
Sora held on tightly to Eri and told her, "I won't leave."
But it was like she couldn't hear him.
She continued crying and the scene changed once more when he blinked.
The sky was no longer clear and summer, covered in grey clouds and the temperature going down, Sora felt a cold wind slap him. It was like a wind storm, thrashing about and throwing everything from the picnic in the air.
"Sora… help me…"
Turning his head, Sora saw Mirio in the distance, calling for help. Without a second thought, Sora rushed forward, seeking to help Mirio. Yet the moment he had arrived, Mirio had turned into a wooden puppet.
His wooden mouth flapped open and closed as tears of blood flowed down his cheeks. "Where were you, Sora?!"
Furrowing his eyebrows in displeasure, Sora looked around angrily, not understanding what was happening to him. Having a dream was impossible during his meditative sleep, yet here he was in a nightmare.
As he ran around the grassland amidst the wind storm, Sora
Before he knew it, he had opened his eyes and he was now back in his room.
Confused, Sora could only free his mind from distractions and get on with his day.
…
His nightmare could be a message, but whatever it meant was another story.
Sora took his shower, and grabbed his luggage before heading to U.A. He said his goodbyes to Toga, Akira, Eve, and Eri before leaving. Since it was going to be a while before he would see them again, he gave them hugs and kisses.
At U.A., Sora was waiting at the designated area, where he found a large group of students waiting.
Approaching them, some of the students recognized him.
"Is that the campus guard?"
"I think so."
"Is he going with us?"
All the students whispered and soon everyone's attention was on Sora. It was odd seeing him there and all the students believed that their teachers were going to be the only ones going.
Now, seeing Sora here told them otherwise.
"Sora?"
At the center of the students, four particular students heard the whispers. They turned their heads and saw Sora in his usual martial uniform walking over to the student groups.
Moving past the students, Mina and Toru excitedly went to greet Sora. Momo and Ochaco smiled and looked at Sora from afar, deciding to talk to him later when it is less crowded.
"You came! I thought you weren't going to join us," Mina said, a little pumped after seeing Sora.
"I wanted to keep it a surprise," Sora replied as he received their excited hugs.
He smiled and listened to them talk until Aizawa approached them with his tired face. He walked up to them and directed his gaze at him while he talked to all three of them.
"Everyone should head to their spots now, we will be leaving now," Aizawa informed them a little sternly.
Mina and Toru turned to leave and waved at Sora before joining their class once more. Aizawa simply stared at Sora for a couple of seconds before turning around. "Guide them well," he muttered.
Sora nodded while Aizawa walked away.
"Wait! Our teacher Vlad hasn't arrived yet!"
A student from Class 1-B yelled out.
Every other student was curious and a little nervous about what is happening. Whether their teacher Vlad is already on his way or meeting them at the destination of the field trip.
Still, Aizawa didn't say anything as he guided Class 1-A into the school bus. Class 1-B watched as Aizawa stepped into the bus and they were slack jawed. The bus drove away and they numbly stood there.
"Wow, are you going to let Class 1-A get a head start?"
Class 1-B turned to Sora, leaning next to the door of the school bus. He looked at them with a smirk and knocked on the school bus behind them.
"Get in. Vlad won't be arriving," Sora explained as he gestured for Class 1-B to enter the bus. He had a clipboard in hand, with a couple of papers that had the names of each student of Class 1-B.
"Awase Yosetsu!"
Calling the names of the students one by one, Sora made sure that every student was here. Student after student, Sora remembered the face of every student and placed a name to the faces.
"Kendo… Itsuka."
Sora raised an eyebrow after seeing the name of this peculiar student. Kendo… the last name of the master of a dojo he had gone to before.
After calling out the name, a young girl stepped forward and right as she was passing Sora, he asked, "Is your father Katashi?"
"Huh? Ah! Yes," Itsuka nodded after hearing Sora's question. A little confused but she answered nonetheless.
Sora smirked and nodded.
"Tell the old man that I wish him well."
"Do you know my father?" Itsuka asked, amazed.
Nodding, Sora had Itsuka head in before calling the other students in. Aside from Itsuka, there were two more cute students in the class, Kinoko and Ibara.
Kinoko is a girl with short hair that covers her head like a mushroom. Ibara's hair on the other hand is green and made of vines.
After having everyone board the bus, Sora entered as well and had the bus driver head to the specified location.
…
"How did you meet my father? Were you a student of his dojo?"
While Sora sat in the bus, Itsuka approached him curiously. She looked at him and noticed that Sora did carry a martial artist aura, weak, but present. Her eyes studied him curiously and wondered whether Sora was one of those fake martial artists.
Those that say they've trained in a martial art and brag about their 'achievements' only to be unskilled and/or weak.
"I met him when I was younger. I trained at his dojo for a couple of years," Sora explained, turning to look at Itsuka.
"Really? I've never seen you there."
Sora furrowed his eyebrows.
"That's strange," he mumbled. "I trained there with Ryou, a young man with red scales and horns."
"Ryou?! You…!"
At Sora's words, Itsuka widened her eyes as she looked at him with shock. Her eyes were filled with nostalgia and she now looked at Sora with a sort of fanatical look.
"Wow! So you're the legendary 'Restless Beast'," Itsuka exclaimed, finally recognizing Sora from somewhere.
Restless Beast?
With a weird look on his face, Sora recalled that he was called that many times at the dojo. It was all because he trained and trained nonstop without taking any breaks. No matter how harsh he trained or how sweaty he became, he didn't stop.
Every other student of the dojo either admired him, or feared his dedication.
If Itsuka knew the nickname the other students gave him, than she must have really been there.
"How come I never got to see you?" Sora asked.
Itsuka smiled and blushed a little, "Because I didn't want you to see me. I… used to have a little crush on you. You were so strong and cool! Able to fight against the strongest guy in the dojo, it was amazing to see you both fight!"
Chuckling, Sora nodded.
He continued talking with Itsuka and soon other students joined their little conversation. Whilst they were talking, Sora received a message from Aizawa on his phone, telling him of what the plan was.
Reading the message, Sora smirked.
"Alright everyone, you all need to take a rest and be ready for when we stop in an hour," Sora informed Class 1-B. "When we stop, there will be a small challenge for you all to complete, and you will need to be fully rested and mentally ready for it."
Class 1-B fell quiet and they erupted into a loud cheer, ready to take on the challenge.
When they all got off the bus, they looked at the wide forest they were going to be entering. Sora didn't look at the forest and instead turned to look at the two individuals that were approaching.
A large man in a cat getup, and a young woman in similar attire, a pink circle over her eyes and on her cheek. They are the heroes that Sora is supposed to meet here in this location.
Tiger and Ragdoll.
They are the heroes who will be helping them in this location and setting up a small challenge for Class 1-B.
