Chapter 18: The First Step
Inside of an arcade, Sora was looking at the screen in front of him with a dark look on his face.
In bold red letters, the screen seemed to be laughing at Sora.
"Winner winner chicken dinner!"
Turning his head to the source of the joy filled exclamations, Sora looked at the silly smile on a light blue haired girl's face.
"Hahaha! Way to go, Nejire!"
Appearing with his usual smile, Mirio laughed.
Hado Nejire
This is the name of the girl that was accompanying Mirio and Tamaki.
Compared to how she was acting an hour ago, it was like she had become a whole new person. One minute she was all sappy, the next she was smiling and giggling like a little girl.
"How about a spar?"
Turning his head with a dark smile on his face, Sora locked his eyes onto Mirio.
"HAHAHA!"
Mirio simply laughed it off.
"I-I'm next…"
Tamaki quietly said as he stood behind Sora.
Shaking his head with a weak smile, Sora simply stepped away from the arcade machine and watched as Nejire and Tamaki began a new game.
"Come on Tamaki! You can do it! Just a couple more punches and you can beat me!"
Sora and Mirio watched as Nejire encouraged Tamaki to try harder, but it only made him lower his head more.
Looking at Nejire, Sora noticed how she has a very bubbly personality. Her eyes constantly shined and she had a wide smile on her face, her cheeks flushed in excitement.
Looking at Nejire, Sora brought his hand up to his chin, rubbing it as he looked at Nejire from head to toe.
"She's cute."
"Hm?"
Sora looked at Mirio with a raised eyebrow.
With a smile on his face, Mirio was looking at Nejire before turning to look at Sora.
"What are you aiming for?"
Mirio's eyes locked onto Sora's, brilliantly shining with passion.
"I! I want to become a hero. The best there is… to save a million!"
Sora smiled.
He listened to Mirio, his question and his desire to become a hero.
"And you?"
"Me?"
Sora shook his head.
"I don't wish to become a hero. I wish to become the strongest being. To reach the pinnacle of Martial Arts and break through those limits."
Sora said, his face serious as he clenched his hand.
He recalled his past life, and his journey to reaching that goal. Now, he had the chance to do it all over again.
Last time, it was too easy.
This time, without any talent, Sora could feel how much his hard work is truly paying off. He can truly feel how he is struggling and how much determination he lacked before.
"Then let's reach our goals!"
Mirio loudly proclaimed.
He wasn't put off by how Sora wasn't truly out to becoming a hero, he understood that everyone had their ideals and goals.
Instead, he cheered so that they may reach their goals!
Putting his fist forward, Mirio smiled at Sora, his eyes serious and full of passion.
"Ha, to our goals then," Sora said, a smirk on his face.
Stretching out his own fist, Sora pressed it against Mirio's
"To our goals!"
A small fair fist joined theirs, followed by a chirpy voice and full of joy.
Nejire happily joined in, leaving the fight she was winning against Tamaki.
"Come Tamaki~!"
Nejire giggled as she dragged the shy boy over.
"To our dreams," he said, a shy smile on his face.
***
"Sora, are you sure?"
Lifting his head from his food, Sora looked at his mother who had a small smile on her face.
"Yes. I am very sure I passed the exams," Sora said, a small smile on his face.
Akira looked at Sora fondly, nodding in appreciation of Sora's confidence.
"My baby is so cool," Akira mumbled loudly, her head tilted at an angle and her hand on her cheek.
Finishing his food, Sora washed the dishes before heading to his room.
Training was done for the day since he only had to do the Great Body Forging Technique. He no longer practiced martial arts as it yielded no advancements.
For now, his focus was entirely on training the Great Body Forging Technique and increasing the fire resistance of his Regeneration Quirk.
As well as studying.
So far, he had grasped all of the available knowledge in this world and was now on his own.
Studying, analyzing, deducing, and comprehending new stuff every second.
This is where his strength currently lies.
Boundless comprehension and intelligence.
An impeccable mind.
In his room, Sora sat behind a desk. He looked at his sketchbook, a terrible drawing of something with weird squiggles around it.
His talent truly affected everything but his mind.
According to what he tried to draw, the thing before him was supposed to look like a human. A robot to be exact.
After seeing the villain robots from U.A., Sora felt a sense of dissatisfaction.
The robots were full of flaws.
Not to mention that their large sizes and bulky builds were very unnecessary. They might have been made with that intention for the students, but it left a terrible taste in his mouth.
He rubbed his chin and began to think.
All the knowledge he had brewed in his mind and continuously spewed out millions of ideas and creations.
It wasn't only limited to robotics, but to chemistry and other areas of science like physics, biology, biochemistry, computer science, etc.
With this knowledge and boundless wit, Sora attempted to search for a way to fix his talent. Yet it all ended with bad fruits.
Nothing was what he wanted.
Drugs, physical modifications, implanting chips in his brain/nervous system…
Yet Sora wasn't looking for ideas like these.
His body is sacred.
He wouldn't taint it with things like that.
…
Thud!
Slapping his sketchbook on the table, Sora's eyes lit up.
He grabbed a couple of items he had prepared and some tools before beginning to dismantle them.
Pieces of metal, plastic, and electronic parts were laid out before Sora and he got to rebuilding them into something else.
He moved slowly and with a couple of twists from the screwdriver in his hand, Sora built a new item.
It was rough, but it was good enough.
In his hand was a really ugly pen-shaped item.
Turning on the tv in his room, Sora pointed the pen to the tv and pressed a little button on its side.
Blip!
The tv's screen turned black and nothing appeared on it anymore.
'The high intensity electromagnetic waves fried some of the tv's circuits,' Sora thought as he gave the pen a light twist.
Click
Looking around his room, Sora noticed a blank piece of paper and pointed the pen at it before pressing the button on the side.
With the press of a button, a bright and concentrated light burst out of the pen and landed on the paper.
Ts…
The paper started to smoke and it wasn't long before it suddenly burst into flames under the extremely weak laser Sora had created.
Click
With another twist of the pen, Sora pointed at the paper once more.
Tzz!
Holding down the button, the pen began to emit strange sounds as the sound of electricity began to crackle within the pen.
The longer he held the button, the louder and stronger the sound became. The pen began to tremble ever so slightly and the noise began to become high pitched.
Until-!
Deee~
Suddenly, the power suddenly dissipated as it ran out of power.
'I need a different energy source,' Sora thought to himself as he lifted the pen up in the air and shook it vigorously.
A better energy source, one he could just have on hand at any place or time.
Beep!
Following the sound of the beep, Sora pressed down on the button once more.
Tzzz—zzzeeeeee!
Lifting his thumb from the button, Sora watched as a weak concentrated beam of electricity tore through the air.
It turned weak as it pierced through the air before a small spark finally landed on the burnt piece of paper.
"It's good, but it needs some work," Sora muttered as he tossed the pen to the side.
It had a couple of other modes, but Sora decided not to use them. The batteries weren't made for whatever he was trying to do.
If he wants to build some good items, then he needs to make new energy sources where he doesn't need to worry about the consumption of energy.
'Rather than things like this, I should make a robot. Have it protect Akira whilst I'm out,' Sora thought to himself as he recalled what happened to his unfortunate father, Kouki.
With that thought, Sora stretched his hand out towards his sketchbook.
"Baby! Your acceptance letter arrived," entering Sora's room unannounced and with a content look on her face, Akira waved a letter in her hand towards Sora.
Sora lowered his hand and turned to look at his mom.
"Let's see what they said."
Sora received the letter from his mother and watched as she left before opening the letter.
Inside was a small and round item.
An electronic which Sora quickly discovered to be a holographic projector.
Curiously, Sora set it on the table.
Upon setting the device on the table, it instantly lit up and revealed a figure on the screen.
A tall and curvaceous woman with sky blue eyes framed by a set of rather long eyelashes. She had long, thick and spiky dark purple hair that combined beautifully with her beauty mark below her left eye and her red-painted nails that gave off a beautiful sense of seduction.
Looking at her, Sora raised his eyebrow as he found this woman particularly seductive and beautiful.
He smiled and leaned back as he watched and listened to the woman.
Sora recognized her from one of the magazines his mother reads. A rather erotic magazine that covered a small portion of heroes that wore very little clothing.
Her hero name is Midnight.
Midnight proclaimed as she raised both her hands in the air, congratulating Sora on obtaining such a feat.
Midnight lowered her body and leaned forward, her gaze piercing through the holographic message and directly looking at Sora. Her eyes narrowed in desire and Sora chuckled at the woman's actions.
Leaning forward, Sora rested his chin on one of his hands, "What a seductive woman."
Midnight paused and her smile widened as she began to breathe heavily, her face flushing.
After all, to become a hero, defeating villains is simply one side of it. To truly be one, one needs to save the people and protect them from danger!>
Sora nodded as he listened to Midnight.
Naturally, it should be like that. If it was only focused on fighting villains, they wouldn't be heroes but combatants.
<73 Rescue Points! You are ahead of every other examinee by large amounts of points! The most outstanding student~!>
Midnight exclaimed as she hugged her body and twisted, her breath hot and her cheeks flushed.
Blip!
The holographic video suddenly changed as it no longer demonstrated Midnight. It cut her message short and it was replaced by a couple of simple words on the screen.
[Congratulations! You have been accepted into U.A. High School! School commences…
PLUS ULTRA!]
Sora smiled and memorized the date of the first day of school before grabbing the holographic device that turned off.
Weighing it in his hand, Sora tossed it into the air a couple of times as he thought to himself.
"My journey is barely taking it's first step," muttered Sora as he smirked to himself.
