A Chaotic World

Lu Tianzi narrowed his eyes in caution as he tried to sense the world laws that were contained within blood red whip.

It was not at all surprising that Elder Chang possessed an Overlord rank treasure of his own. After all, the Frost Guards was an influence with two Overlord realm powerhouses among their ranks. It was only natural that its elders would possess Overlord rank treasures as well.

Now that things had come to this, he just had to deal with it.

Every Overlord rank treasure was capable of harnessing the power of the world laws. In order to safely deal with the whip, he had to first figure out what world law was contained within.

And it just so happened that this world law was something that he was familiar with, making it easier for Lu Tianzi to identify it.

The Law of Yin.

Coincidentally, Elder Chang's blood red whip actually harnessed the same world law as his Fallen Sun.

"Now then, let's see which is stronger – that black sabre of yours or my Crimson Serpent Whip!"

With a snap of his wrists, the cracker of the blood red whip shot towards Lu Tianzi at an incredible speed.

Two illusory green vortices shimmered into existence behind Lu Tianzi as he drove his origin core to the limit.

Against an opponent like Elder Chang, Lu Tianzi dared not get careless.

Bang-!

Lu Tianzi barely blocked the blood red whip with the Fallen Sun. The blood red whip felt more like a club as it smashed against the face of the sabre, resulting in a thunderous impact that sent Lu Tianzi sliding backwards a good few metres.

"You actually blocked that?" Elder Chang could not hide his astonishment.

While he had not executed any special combat techniques with that attack, it was still a move that most Ninth Cycle Origin Core realm martial artists would struggle against. Yet this Fourth Cycle Origin Core realm martial artist actually managed to block it?

On the other end, Lu Tianzi turned more solemn after that initial exchange.

He might have managed to block the first attack, but it was definitely not as easy as it seemed. Even though it appeared to be a clean block, he could still feel a numbness spread throughout his arm after receiving the hit. Lu Tianzi could only imagine how bad it would be if he had been struck directly by that.

As expected, a Ninth Cycle Origin Core realm opponent was not easy to deal with!

Numerous swords emerged from Lu Tianzi's spatial ring, slowly circling around him as they drew out an imaginary dome. Wherever they passed, the swords left faint scars trailing in their wake.

Eternal Wraith Sword.

At the same time, Lu Tianzi slashed out with the Moon Culler, sending a flash of beautiful sword light flying towards Elder Chang.

"Hmph!" Elder Chang snapped his wrist, and the blood red whip seemed to come to life as it moved to block the sword light.

Bang-!

The blood red whip easily smashed apart the flying sword light, but that was not the end of it. The very next moment, sword light condensed behind Elder Chang, slashing down at an unexpected angle.

Lu Tianzi did not give Elder Chang any time to think as he slashed out once again, wanting to catch his opponent in a two pronged attack.

"Seems like you do have some tricks of your own," Elder Chang did not panic as he got ready to deal with both attacks, but what happened next finally made him furrow his brows.

Colours drained from his surroundings as he felt himself descend into a world of complete darkness. From where Lu Tianzi stood, a ghastly apparition of nether energy was now charging towards him with its jaws wide open, threatening to swallow him whole.

"As if this will be enough to stop me!" Elder Chang shouted as he drove his origin core to the limit.

An illusory monster serpent shimmered into existence behind Elder Chang as he poured his origin force into his blood red whip.

As if it had received a breath of new life, the blood red whip started spinning in a circle. As it spun, the whip released energy of the Yin attribute that formed into a red sphere around Elder Chang, serving to negate all foreign sources of energy within its radius.

The illusory effect of the Howling Wraith Sword was dispelled in an instant, and the two sword lights merely dissipated upon coming into contact with the red sphere of energy.

In a single move, Elder Chang had effectively defended himself against all of Lu Tianzi's attacks.

"Who said you are allowed to make a move? Just stay put and die!" Elder Chang said with a sneer as he charged forward while still enveloped within the red sphere of Yin energy.

Lu Tianzi gritted his teeth and drove his origin care as he braced for impact, understanding that this red sphere of energy was not going to be easy to deal with.

At the same time, Lu Tianzi's body started to transform.

The skin on his hands hardened, and his nails grew longer to resemble an eagle's talons.

The colour of his hair grew a shade lighter, growing just about a couple centimetres longer.

The toned muscles on his body grew more defined, and his eyes sharpened.

A single left wing freed itself from its restraints, piercing straight through his shirt and stretching out to his left, spanning up to two metres in length.

An aura of menace swept unimpeded across the empty chamber, causing a frown to reappear on Elder Chang's face.

Not only could he feel Lu Tianzi's aura skyrocketing, he also felt a sense of primordial fear well up from deep within him, causing his hair to stand on ends.

Ridiculous!

Elder Chang immediately tried to shake off this unsettling feeling, driving his origin core to the limit as he continued charging towards Lu Tianzi, determined to end things strongly with this move.

Feeding on the origin force from Elder Chang, the red sphere of energy expanded further, and even the dull grey floor of the chamber started to creak under the pressure.

This opponent of his was far too strange. The combat capabilities that he was witnessing were nothing like that of a normal Fourth Cycle Origin Core realm martial artist.

Elder Chang had a premonition that if he did not put an end to things as soon as possible, the situation could end up becoming too tricky to handle, even for someone as strong as himself!

When the red sphere of Yin energy around Elder Chang came into range of the dome of swords, every sword floating around Lu Tianzi suddenly turned around and pierced towards the red sphere.

At the same time, Lu Tianzi raised both blades in his hands and slashed down at once.

The Fallen Sun and the Moon Culler acted as the core while the countless swords around Lu Tianzi played a supportive role, forming a hammer of blades that slammed against the approaching red sphere of energy.

Bang-!

The wall of blades collided with the red sphere of energy, producing an intense storm of energy that swept across the entire chamber. Huge cracks appeared on the dull grey floor, and the walls started to tremble.

But against Lu Tianzi's defence, Elder Chang was shocked to find that his advance was actually stopped!

No. To be exact, his advance had not been completely stopped, but it had at least been slowed drastically.

Although he came out with the advantage and was still advancing bit by bit, such a result was already something that Elder Chang would never have expected. After all, he was a Ninth Cycle Origin Core realm martial artist going against an opponent at the Fourth Origin Cycle.

By all reasoning, he should have completely blown the other party away!

Despite his shock, Elder Chang still carefully analysed the opponent's technique as he continued to press forward.

At first glance, these individual swords floating around his opponent that seemed to be solitary in nature. However, they actually exhibited an amplified strength when acting together, creating a resultant force capable of hindering his advance even in his current state that was empowered by the Crimson Serpent Whip.

"Is it the Law of Swords?" Elder Chang thought out loud.

"You really enjoy talking to yourself, don't you?" Lu Tianzi remarked as he poured his origin force into his swords to resist the oncoming ball of red energy that was surrounding Elder Chang.

With every second that passed, Lu Tianzi was being pushed back by Elder Chang, and was quickly approaching the edge of the chamber.

"Tch! What an ill-mannered kid," Elder Chang clicked his tongue. "No matter, you are still going to die here anyway!"

"Do you really think so?" Lu Tianzi retorted even as he was being pushed back along with the dome of swords.

"Is acting tough all that you can do?" Elder Chang asked in a mocking tone.

There was a limit to this chamber that they were in. If he continued pushing his opponent back, at some point his opponent was going to be pressed against the wall with nowhere left to retreat. After which, his opponent would have no choice but to be crushed by the force of his sphere of energy!

While Elder Chang was not entirely satisfied with such a drawn out victory over someone like his current opponent, he was not intending to change things up just because of something as meaningless as pride.

After all, he still had something much more important to deal with after getting rid of these intruders – taking down Nanshen Qin!

For that reason, he could not afford any possibility of failing here, and would not hesitate to take the safe route that would ensure his victory.

Elder Chang looked towards Lu Tianzi, interested to see what would be the expression on someone who was about to be crushed.

However, what he saw next completely betrayed his expectations.

Despite having been pushed all the way back such that his back was almost against the edge of the chamber, the light in his opponent's eyes was actually one that expressed nothing but cold disinterest.

It was almost as though his opponent was the one with the advantage here, and was looking down at him as though he was a prey for the taking.

Elder Chang's first thought was that he had to be imagining things, that was, until he saw Lu Tianzi let out a confident smirk.

Since Elder Chang had been able to tell that things will end in his victory if it continued at this rate, how could Lu Tianzi not know that as well?

However, he did not feel the least bit of panic, his silvery eyes carefully scanning his surroundings even as he continued to get pushed towards the very edge of this world.

There was no need to panic. Because right from the beginning, Lu Tianzi had never intended for the situation to remain at status quo for long.

And now that he was finally done examining this dull grey chamber that was Elder Chang's world, it was time to make his move.

From within Lu Tianzi's inner world, a second true origin core that had been dormant for the entire fight suddenly burst forth with energy, all of which converted to origin force as it erupted to the surface.

Elder Chang's eyes widened in disbelief.

This feeling that he was getting from his opponent... was it spiritual essence energy?

But how?!

"What did you do?!" Elder Chang questioned, his heart palpitating from the sudden change in situation.

With this burst of energy, he could feel that his opponent's strength had received yet another ridiculous boost, to the extent that even with his superior cultivation level and the energy support from his Crimson Serpent Whip, Elder Chang was suddenly no longer able to push him back anymore!

"You seem to be very proud of that toy in your hands," Lu Tianzi's smirk deepened. "Isn't it just an Overlord rank treasure? What's so great about that?"

By the end of his sentence, a previously ordinary-looking pendant that was hanging around Lu Tianzi's neck suddenly burst forth with lights of nine different colours.

Elder Chang felt his mind collapsing as he sensed the energy fluctuations from the pendant. Just like his opponent's black sabre and his Crimson Serpent Whip, this pendant similarly harnessed the power of the world laws.

In other words, it was yet another Overlord rank treasure!
