Chapter 32: Jenny Voss
The private jet roared as it touched down on the runway of the private airport.
The captain was so skillful that the VIP on board the plane didn't feel too much discomfort as they arrived and that was exactly what he was being paid for.
Jenny Voss pulled off the sleeping mask over her eyes and blinked, yawning. They had finally arrived at Crownsborough.
She'd been gone from the beautiful city for a few months but now she was back. She had a score to settle.
The jet slowed and gradually taxied to a stop.
To those in the know, the aircraft was recognized as a Voss jet by the insignia on the tail but to an ordinary person, it was just another jet.
Jenny checked her phone to see she had a few messages from friends. Word had gone out that she would be coming to the city.
She smiled on seeing the message from her friend, Quinn. She shot a reply before standing, admiring herself.
She'd worn a white t-shirt tucked into a form hugging blue jeans. Worn over the t-shirt was a blue denim jacket that matched her jeans. Topping everything off were her stylish high heels.
She took off the sunglasses on her forehead and wore it, tying her purple hair into a ponytail.
The steps of the jet were lowered and the door opened. It was time to leave.
She walked out, paying no attention to her luggage. The crew would make sure they were all taken to the places they should be.
Waiting for her at the bottom was her chauffeur. The man was dressed smartly as befitting a staff of the Voss family.
"Welcome back, Miss Voss." He greeted her with a respectful bow. He then stepped back and opened the door to the Rolls Royce as was his job.
She stepped into the vehicle, setting her handbag down beside her.
The chauffeur closed the door and slipped into the driver's seat.
"Take me to the docks." She instructed him.
"Yes, Miss Voss." He said and began driving. There was no need for her to elaborate. There were different docks in Crownsborough but only one she always used to get to her destination.
Emerald Isle.
She could've taken a helicopter but her mother had taken away her helicopter privileges. All because she'd partied a bit too hard.
She scoffed. Why couldn't her mother understand that she'd never be the prim and proper woman she wanted her to be.
She already had a perfect daughter. Why was she still trying to change her?
But that didn't matter. She wasn't that young girl who was always after her mother's approval anymore.
Instead, she was the young woman who protected what was hers. And Nico had strayed into her territory.
She still had a few things to do in New York but had suspended them to come here. She had to. After all, Nico had done unthinkable.
He had gone to her precious island without her permission and to add insult to injury, he had taken Mila Devon with him. What would people think about the exclusivity of her island if just anybody could waltz in.
This was all her sister's fault. She hadn't been satisfied with taking what should've been shared between them but had irritated her with everything she did, including bringing Nico to the island last year, knowing fully well that she didn't like him.
At the time, their eldest sister had called the Voss children together for a meeting. She'd volunteered her island for it and it had been accepted.
Of course, Nico hadn't been invited. No one really recognized him as a member of the family.
Their father had been the one to set the example, banishing his only natural born child from his kingdom.
None of them knew why but no one questioned it. That was the way things had always been.
Her sister had shown up to the meeting, bringing Nico along with her. Nico had come, thinking he was finally being accepted but as he'd learnt that day, he would never be accepted.
After all, he was a threat. A threat to the shared ambitions of her sisters to have their father's wealth for themselves.
But now, Nico has grown balls. He had come back to Emerald Isle on his own even while knowing he wasn't wanted. It was up to her to put him back where he belonged.
She finally arrived at the dock and her chauffeur came down to open the door for her.
She grabbed her handbag and stepped out. Sitting at the dock was her yacht. The crew was already waiting for her.
"Welcome, Miss Voss." The captain greeted her. She nodded at the man before walking into her cabin.
It didn't take too long for the yacht to arrive at Emerald isle. She stepped onto the dock to see her staff already waiting, lined up in a straight row.
"Welcome, Miss Voss." They said in unison, bowing slightly in greeting. The staff didn't stay at the island but had been brought in for her short stay.
She'd be here for only a night. After that, she'd head back to her apartment on the mainland.
She barely glanced at the staff, turning to her security personnels who were also waiting on her word.
"You're fired." She said, pointing at her head of security. The man blinked in surprise, having not expected that. "You." She pointed at his second in command. "you're the new head of security. Come with me."
"Yes, ma'am." He saluted smartly. She walked to the golf cart and the man took the wheel, driving her up to the mansion.
The moment she stepped into the house, she went upstairs to her private suite and pulled off her clothes. She had a shower and changed before going downstairs to where the new head of security stood, still waiting.
"Do you know why I fired your boss?" She asked him.
"Yes, ma'am." He said. "He allowed in guests not approved by you."
"Exactly." Jenny nodded. "No one is allowed here without my permission. Understood?"
"Yes, ma'am."
"Good." She nodded. "Now, I want you to find out what my dearest brother has been up to lately. I want to know why he was here and what he is planning on doing. Make it quick."
"Yes, ma'am." He saluted. "I'll have it for you within twenty four hours."
"Good." She dismissed him.
Nico had to be up to something. Why else would he bring someone like Mila Devon to her island.
Seems like he has stopped isolating himself. Now, she had to show him that there were lines that were not meant to be crossed.
