3rd P.O.V.
While waiting for the duo, Toji sat down and watched TV as his ramen was being made.
Toji sighed. 'At least Shibuya is similar.'
This version of Japan had subtle differences, which is why he 'sucks' at directions.
It's one of the many annoyances he's encountered since he was seemingly brought back to life.
For example...
Rion suddenly appeared across from him and sat at the table, holding Akira like luggage.
Akira spoke while holding her mouth. "I'm gonna hurl."
Rion rubbed Akira's back to prevent her from throwing up in public. "Sorry, kiddo, but who knows if or when Toji would've bailed? I had to get here quickly in case he abandoned us again."
Out of everyone in the Order, only Kindaka had her beat in speed. If Kindaka didn't have his light-speed shoes, she would be the fastest member in the Order.
Takamura was strong, but speed was not his forte. However, cutting people in half was no issue, even for someone as fast as Kindaka.
Unfortunately for the JAA and himself, he was currently out of commission since Toji cut off his hands, but the JAA has resources to help him return to work.
...
After Rion and Akira arrived, one of the waiters dropped off Toji's ramen. Before they left, Akira and Rion ordered their own food.
Rion spoke while resting her chin on her palm. "Huh, honestly, I didn't think you would show up."
She had no idea.
He even abandoned his son, let alone some teenage assassin.
Toji rolled his eyes. "Even after waking up after six years, I've kept some of my old habits. I've been trying to change them, at least a little."
It went silent momentarily as Akira looked back and forth at the conversation to which she couldn't add any substance.
Rion's eyes twitched, and a worried smirk appeared after she heard Toji's statement. 'Waking up? Six years? Isn't he 20? Doesn't he have a kid!?'
Yes, Toji did have a kid.
One he left behind and sold to the Zenin clan for eight million yen.
That new revelation was something Rion didn't expect. It ended the conversation while Akira tilted her head to the side, not understanding the weird atmosphere.
Toji didn't care as he ate his ramen.
Shortly after, the waiter dropped off Rion and Akira's food.
*ring*
The door had a chime to alert the staff of a customer entering.
Everything was normal until the newcomer stopped and saw someone they didn't expect they would run into.
'Toji Fushiguro.'
The newcomer, or rather Kumanomi, narrowed her eyes slightly, releasing small amounts of bloodlust, but cleared her thoughts since she knew she couldn't beat him.
Kumanomi took notice of the Order member sitting across from him. 'That's Rion Akao.'
She couldn't care less about Akira since the kid wasn't considered a threat.
Kumanomi sat at a table with a wall between them to prevent Toji from seeing her.
Calming her nerves, Kumanomi took a deep breath since she was there to get noodles for the members of X and leave.
...
A voice spoke from behind, in her ear, as a knife was placed in front of her neck. "Who the hell are you?"
...
Kumanomi's heart dropped. 'How did they get behind without me noticing!?'
She gulped. "I'm Kumanomi. Can I help you with something?"
The voice was Rion, who had a murderous look on her face.
She spoke, keeping her low and malicious tone. "Ever since you walked in, you've had bloodlust pointed at our table."
Kumanomi hated Toji and couldn't hide her bloodlust as a failure Al-Kamar orphan. She hadn't had training that could allow her to rival Order members and didn't have access to her magnetic gloves.
She started to sweat. "What are you talking about?"
The knife moved closer and slightly cut her neck, making a small blood trail down her body.
*drip*
Rion wasn't a person to be overly serious about most situations since she would only get involved if she was paid or someone attacked her.
However, this time was different.
...
Akira was with her.
...
Even if there were a slight chance of someone threatening her life, she would go to any length to remove the person or group before they became a problem. She would turn the world against her to keep her niece safe.
Rion spoke. "I'm giving you one last chance. If the next words out of your mouth aren't you explaining why, I'm going to kill you."
Kumanomi's heartbeat could practically be heard. 'She's really going to kill me!'
She tried to take a deep breath, but that only pushed her neck closer to the knife. "I'm Kumanomi, an orphan of Al-Kamar, an experiment for creating Order-level assassins. Kei Uzuki was my brother. I'm not planning on fighting Toji or harming you since I don't have a chance in hell, but I still hate Toji."
The knife disappeared, and the presence behind her vanished as if it never happened in the first place.
Kumanomi looked horrified. 'Was she even here in the first place?'
If Kumanomi didn't have a blood trail running down her neck, she would've thought she was hallucinating.
...
As she returned to the table, Rion's mood was ruined.
People would find it strange why Rion believed her so easily, but her eyes improved her analytical skills, allowing her to tell if someone was lying.
With that whole experience, Kumanomi had no thoughts of screwing with some of the most dangerous assassins in the world.
Toji noticed the bloodlust, too, but didn't care since he could handle random fodder like Kumanomi.
Akira tilted her head to the side. "Are you okay, auntie?"
Rion smirked and ruffled her hair. "Yeah, nothin' you need to worry about."
Akira narrowed her eyes and puffed her cheeks at Rion's actions.
...
Rion had a sad smile and thought to herself. 'Don't worry, kiddo, I'll keep you safe.'
