Chapter 14: Chapter 14
I stared down my opponent for the Advancement Exam- a rather pretty girl from Obelisk Blue named Wisteria. She had red eyes and lavender hair done in twin tails, held by yellow hairbands. She was quite pretty, as I'd said, with a rather curvaceous figure. Her chest was rather modest, but that didn't detract from her attractiveness.
"No hard feelings, but I won't lose here," she said firmly. "I have no interest in doing those make-up exams if I don't put on a good show."
"The same with me," I pulled out my new Duel Disk from my inner jacket and put it on my rest, causing it to clamp around my wrist and the holographic duel blade to expand. I smirked as I savoured the exclamations of shock from the crowd.
"A custom duel disk?" Wisteria gasped. "And such an advanced one with a solid light hologram…"
"I have a rather good friend who loves to tinker," I told Wisteria. "You don't need to worry, the Duel Disk has already been checked out and approved by the teachers and technicians, it's completely legal."
She hesitated before she nodded and began to prepare her own Duel Disk.
'Hm… This might be a good chance to test out the Live Streaming feature…'
Black Sun has started a Livestream!
Sea Diva has joined the Livestream!
Goth Thunder has joined the Livestream!
God's Tongue has joined the Livestream!
Prima Ballerina has joined the Livestream!
Deviluke Princess has joined the Livestream!
Ashen Demon has joined the Livestream!
Sea Diva: What, what? A livestream? Are you about to show off a Duel for us, Yuno?
Black Sun: Yep. Just sit back and enjoy, this is my Advancement Exam.
Prima Ballerina: Be careful, your opponent is an Obelisk Blue. They aren't pushovers.
I just smirked as Wisteria slot her deck in place and activated her Duel Disk.
"DUEL!"
Yuno LP: 4000
Wisteria LP: 4000
"I will be taking the first move," Wisteria declared. "I draw!" She pulled a card from her deck and looked at her hand. "I'll make this nice and simple, and just set one monster in Defence Mode, then I'll set two cards face-down and end my turn!"
Wisteria Hand: 3
"Then it's my turn," I told her with a smirk. "I draw!" I hummed as I looked at my hand. "I think this is the perfect time to debut the new Deck that I've been working on, Wisteria."
Her eyes widened. "A new deck!?"
"That's right," I smirked. "Let's get this started… I normal summon Blue Storm Cadet, Erikk!"
Manifesting on the field was a young looking man, wearing a white navy uniform and adjusting his cap as he held an energy sword in his hands.
Blue Storm Cadet, Erikk
3 Star – WATER – Warrior/Tuner
1600/700
"Erikk's effect activates," I told her. "Once per turn, I can send a card from my hand to the Graveyard," I discarded a card from my hand. "And then I can add a Level 5 or higher "Blue Storm" monster from my Deck to my hand," I pulled a card free from my Deck and revealed it. "The card I'm adding is my Blue Storm Officer, Tidal Assault!"
Blue Storm Officer, Tidal Assault
5 Star – WATER – Warrior/Effect
2200/800
"Then, if I control another "Blue Storm" monster, I can Special Summon Tidal Assault from my hand!"
My monster jumped out a stream of water, wielding a pair of flaming energy sabres, wearing a similar but a uniform with more flair compared to Erikk.
"I activate my Trap, Bottomless Trap Hole!" Wisteria declared as the card flipped over. "When you summon a monster to your field with 1500 or more ATK, I can destroy that monster and banish it! So, say goodbye to Tidal Assault!"
"I'll activate a Quick-Play Spell from my hand," I told her. "Forbidden Lance! This card allows me to target 1 monster on the field, and that monster loses 800 ATK, but cannot be affected by Spell and Trap cards until the end of this turn!"
A lance appeared and shot towards Tidal Assault, who grabbed it before black thorns unleashed from the lance, wrapping around his wrist. As the trap hole appeared beneath him, the lance glowed, and a platform of light stopped him from falling.
Tidal Assault ATK: 2200 > 1400
"Tch," Wisteria clicked her tongue.
Prima Ballerina: Oh, bravo! What a great play!
Goth Thunder: I'm a little confused, what just happened?
Prima Ballerina: Basically, Wisteria's trap would have destroyed his monster. But the spell he used weakened is own monster but granted it immunity to her trap!
Ashen Demon: Ah… Using a curse to one's advantage… Clever.
I smirked as one of my Duel Spirits manifested behind me. "Is it my turn, Yuno?" She asked.
'That's right, the stage is yours.'
"I tune my Level 3 Blue Storm Cadet, Erikk with my Level 5 Blue Storm Officer, Tidal Assault!"
Erikk lifted his sword before he burst into rings of light that Tidal Assault leapt into, turning see through and becoming five glistening stars that straightened out in the ring.
3 + 5 = 8
"Warriors on the stormy seas! Join your powers together and bring forth a great and terrible magic!" A beam of light shot through the ring. "Synchro Summon! It's your debut! Level 8! Blue Storm Magician, Silent!"
Out of the light appeared Silent Magician in her newest form, clad in a tight white navy uniform, her coattails hanging low, and her body shown off perfectly in her tight clothing. A new staff made just for her was being held in one of her hands, her blue eyes glowing with power.
Blue Storm Magician, Silent
8 Star – WATER – Magician/Synchro/Effect
3000/2500
Wisteria gulped as many gasped, the men openly ogling silent as she stood there, expressionless as she stared down at my opponent's field.
God's Tongue: Oh… Oh my… She's beautiful…
Deviluke Princess: Wow! So pretty!
Prima Ballerina: W- Wow… I have no words…
"Silent," I pointed at Wisteria's face-down card. "Attack Wisteria's face-down monster."
Silent nodded and lifted her staff, a vortex of water appearing above it and forming into a water blade before she began to swing down.
"I activate my Continuous Trap, Unbreaking Will!" She declared. "Once per turn, I can prevent the destruction of a monster I control by battle!"
Silent's water blade slammed into the card… Only for it to flip up, unharmed, and revealing Morphing Jar.
"Morphing Jar's Flip Effect! When he is flipped face up, our hands get a reset! We discard all cards in our hand and draw back up to five!"
I only hummed as I discarded the three cards in my hand, and drew until I was holding five once again, as did Wisteria.
"Silent's effect activates," I told her, Silent aiming her staff at me and releasing a blue light that covered my body. "At the end of her attack, depending on how many times I've attacked this turn, I may activate one of several effects. Since I only attacked once this turn, I can add 1 'Blue Storm' monster from my Graveyard to my hand," a card slid out of my Graveyard. "And the card I choose is my Tidal Assault. Then, I'll set three cards face-down and end my turn."
Yuno Hand: 3
"Then, it's my turn! I draw!" She declared, looking over the six cards in her hand. "I activate the Ritual Spell – End of the World!"
I raised an eyebrow at that. "Ritual Spell… End of the World…" I knew that card, I'd even played that deck briefly. Which meant…
"I will offer the Morphing Jar on my field and in my hand, along with Archfiend Soldier in my hand as sacrifices," she declared, the two other cards appearing briefly on the field before blue light filled the field, a massive ritual circle appearing above us.
2 + 2 + 4 = 8!
"O' Great Warlord who arrives at the End of the World! Descend now and bring forth the Apocalypse!" She chanted as the three monsters were sucked into the magic circle in the sky, before a blue beam of light shot down onto the field and kicked up wind, making clothes flutter.
"Ritual Summon! Descend! Level 8! Demise, King of Armageddon!"
Out of the blue light stepped a monster clad in black and silver armour, wielding a massive axe. Crimson eyes glared from beneath the helmet.
Demise, King of Armageddon
8 Star – DARK – Fiend/Ritual/Effect
2400/2000
God's Tongue: Oh my… How intimidating…
Goth Thunder: Yeesh, I'm getting some vibes from that thing…
Prima Ballerina: I've heard rumours about this card! Watch out, Yuno!
"I activate Demise's Special Effect!" She declared. "I pay 1000 Life Points to destroy all other cards on the field!"
Wisteria LP: 4000 > 3000
Wisteria grimaced as a red mist wafted off of her body and floated towards Demise's axe, which slowly turned as red as blood as it absorbed her life points. "Go Demise! Armageddon!"
The monster lifted its axe and swung it towards the ground!
"Blue Storm Magician, Silent's effect," I told her. "If she would be destroyed, I can discard a card from my hand," I slipped a card in my hand to the Graveyard. "And prevent her destruction. Furthermore, I activate my Trap – Blue Storm Frantic Defence. When cards on my field would be destroyed by way of a card effect, I can discard cards from my hand and prevent the destruction of cards up to the number I discard. I'll discard one card from my hand- reducing me to one card in hand- in order to protect my centre face-down card."
As Demise's axe slammed into the ground, the ground cracked and waves of destruction rippled forwards. A barrier of water appeared around both Silent and my centre face-down, but my other two cards were destroyed from the effect.
Prima Ballerina: It's not looking good for Yuno… Down to one card in hand, he'll only be able to protect Silent Magician if Wisteria activates that effect again.
Deviluke Princess: But we don't know what Yuno discarded, he might have a Graveyard effect, right?
Ashen Demon: Hm… Interesting.
Wisteria bit her lip and looked down at her hand. 'I could pay more of my life points… However, I have no idea if he has any Graveyard effects… Better to play it safe, I don't doubt that card in his hand and his face-down can protect him in case of another assault from Demise.'
"I'll activate a second Ritual Spell," she declared. "Ritual of the Underworld! This card allows me to banish monsters from my Graveyard in order to Ritual Summon! So, by banishing my two Morphing Jars and Archfiend Soldier, I can fulfil the Conditions to Ritual Summon!"
A black circle appeared on the ground, the silhouettes of Wisteria's three monsters falling into its before a blue light unleashed from the hole radiantly.
"O' Majestic Queen who descends at the World's End! Grace us with your presence and bring forth Oblivion!" Wisteria slammed the card onto her Duel Disk. "Ritual Summon! Rise Up! Level 8! Ruin, Queen of Oblivion!"
Out of the blue light stepped a beautiful young woman, clad in a red and black dress that showed off her figure, and wielding her own axe- this one with two sides.
Ruin, Queen of Oblivion
8 Star – LIGHT – Fairy/Ritual/Effect
2300/2000
"Then I activate the Continuous Spell – The World's Ending! While this card is face-up on my field, both Ruin and Demise gain 1000 ATK!"
Demise, King of Armageddon ATK: 2400 > 3400
Ruin, Queen of Oblivion ATK: 2300 > 3300
Prima Ballerina: Two monsters, both with more than 3000 ATK!? Yuno, I hope your face-down can save you…
I just smirked. "Come on then!"
Wisteria's eyes narrowed. "Battle! Ruin attacks Blue Storm Magician, Silent! And by the way, when she destroys a monster by battle, she can attack again in a row!"
"That won't be happening," I told her. "I activate my Trap Card – Return to Zero!"
Wisteria looked nervous. "What does that card do?"
"When my monster is attacked, I can reduce my monster's ATK to Zero. In exchange, it cannot be destroyed by battle or card effect this turn and I take half the battle damage!"
Blue Storm Magician Silent ATK: 3000 > 0
"Endure it, Silent!" I called out, and she nodded, lifting her staff and blocking Ruin's axe, the shockwave rippling past her and hitting me.
Yuno LP: 4000 > 2350
"Now, Demise attacks Silent as well!" She declared, the hulking mass of armour lifting his axe and swinging down, unleashing a black energy wave at Silent, who blocked it with her staff and was sent skidding back until she was in front of me directly. She did her best to block me from the shockwaves as I lifted my arms and felt the gust of wind ripple against me.
Yuno LP: 2350 > 650
"With that, I end my turn," Wisteria declared, feeling proud of herself.
Wisteria Hand: 0
Blue Storm Magician, Silent ATK: 0 > 3000
Prima Ballerina: Damn it… This doesn't look good for Yuno.
Deviluke Princess: Come on, Yuno! You can do it! Win!
Sea Diva: Yeah, you can beat her! We all know you can!
I just chuckled at their encouragement… After all, there was absolutely no need to worry.
"Final Turn."
All chatter in the hall instantly went silent.
"W- What does that mean?"
"Final Turn? There's no way…"
"He means that he plans to end the game now…? But he'll only have two cards in his hand, and his monster is weaker than hers. How…?"
Wisteria gulped and stepped back. "You… You're bluffing," she told me. "There's no way."
"I draw," I pulled a card free from my deck and looked at my hand with a pleasant smile. "While I control a Blue Storm monster, I can Special Summon Tidal Assault from my hand!" I smirked as I placed the card on the field, causing it to appear before us once more, energy sabre's at the ready.
"Battle," I declared, throwing everyone off. "Tidal Assault attacks Ruin, Queen of Oblivion!"
Tidal Assault nodded before he jumped towards her, energy sabres swinging.
"Are you crazy!?" She exclaimed. "Ruin's ATK is way higher!"
"Once per turn, Tidal Assault cannot be destroyed by battle," I told her. "Furthermore, the damage I take when Tidal Assault is involved in a battle is halved."
Tidal assault slammed his sabres against Ruin's axe, who blocked him before knocking him away.
Yuno LP: 650 > 100
"Tidal Assault's effect," I declared. "Once per turn, after he attacks, Tidal Assault can attack again. Once more, Tidal Assault attacks Ruin, Queen of Oblivion! If it is the second battle or more of that turn, then the damage I take is zero!"
"But why!?" She exclaimed, unable to understand it.
Tidal leapt in once again, swinging his sabres before- this time- Ruin blocked his attack and cleaved him in two, causing his body to explode into nothingness.
"You're down to a hundred life points!" Wisteria told me. "You're only causing yourself harm! You're as good as handing me the win!"
"Didn't you hear me?" I chuckled. "When I said Final Turn, I meant you were losing… Silent, if you would please! Attack Ruin, Queen of Oblivion!"
Silent nodded and floated up, twirling her staff around before firing a vortex of water right at Ruin, Queen of Oblivion.
"At this moment, I activate the effect of Blue Storm Light Signals Penguin," I flipped over the card in my hand. "By sending this card to my Graveyard, I can prevent one of my monsters from being destroyed by battle and reduce one instance of damage to 0!"
I discarded the card and, as Ruin blocked the attack and unleashed an energy wave, a Penguin in a navy outfit waving glowing sticks appeared far to the right, causing the attack to veer off course and hit it instead.
"I don't get it," Wisteria frowned. "All of your attacks have only served to damage you, or been useless… So why…?"
I just tutted and wagged my finger. "How quickly we forget? Do you remember what I told you? Silent here's special effects activate depending on the amount of times I've battled this turn. Two from Tidal Assault, and one from Silent is all I need to fulfil the conditions!"
Silent Magician twirled her staff above her head as an absolutely massive vortex of water formed above her, as though she were lifting the ocean with only her magical power.
Wisteria's eyes widened. "Wha…?"
"Blue Storm Magician, Silent's effect activates!" I declared. "If the amount of battles that occured at the end of her attack is three or greater, then I can destroy all monsters my opponent controls! And then you take damage equal to the half the combined sum of their ATK!"
Wisteria gasped. "What!? B- But that's-!"
"Demise's ATK is 3400! Ruin's ATK is 3300! Put together, that's 6700! And then half of that… Is 3350 damage, straight to your Life Points!"
Silent's eyes glowed as she stared down at them coldly. "For my Master's Victory- Perish."
"Sic 'em," I grinned. "Azure Deluge."
The waves were sent crashing downwards, Wisteria screaming as she covered herself as her monsters were destroyed and she took all that damage at once.
Wisteria LP: 3000 > 0
WINNER: Yuno Fuji!
"Match concluded!" The referee declared. "The Winner of the Duel is Yuno Fuji!"
The crowd, even though many didn't like me thanks to my relationship with Akiza, all couldn't help themselves from cheering loudly at my win. After all, I had at least put on one hell of a show for them.
"I'll look forward to duelling you in the future," I told Wisteria before I turned and left the duelling field, savouring the congratulations from the girls in the chatroom.
Exams were over... And now, I couldn't wait to see what the break would bring…
