You’re The Baby’s Father ?

Chapter 1

Chapter 1

“I’ve prepared a mansion for you in Endellier. It’s a small village, so no one will recognize you. You shouldn’t have any major inconveniences.”

Caldeon spoke with a composed expression.

Enria couldn’t believe her ears.

She had never even considered the possibility that he would abandon her.

“Stay there quietly for the time being. I’ll provide anything you need.”

The moment news spread that the original female lead would become the Grand Duchess, this happened.

Enria felt as if all the blood in her body had drained away.

“You will leave tomorrow, Enria.”

Caldeon’s voice was firm as he addressed her, still dazed.

There was no mistaking it—his tone carried the weight of an order.

Then… what about his magical rampages?

If she disappeared, there would be no one left to suppress them.

The original female lead did eventually develop a magic suppression drug, but that was long after she had become the Grand Duchess.

Could it be…?

Has Roseanne already completed the suppression drug?

Enria’s face hardened.

It was possible.

Their marriage had been announced over a month ago, and ever since then, Caldeon had stopped coming to her room as often.

But even so, how could he be this indifferent…?

Enria couldn’t understand it.

It had already been two years since she possessed this body.

For those two years, Caldeon had loved her.

At least, that’s what Enria had believed.

In the original novel, despite sharing a bedroom, they had lived as complete strangers, even sleeping in separate beds. But things had been different this time.

Caldeon’s magical rampages hadn’t been calmed just by holding hands, as in the original story.

Their relationship had completely changed from the novel’s version ever since that fateful day—when an accidental kiss led to something more.

So she had convinced herself that her situation was vastly different from the original Enria’s.

That there was no way Caldeon would take Roseanne as his Grand Duchess while still loving her.

At least, that was what she had believed—until today, when he abandoned her.

Was he really serious…?

She stared blankly as Caldeon’s figure disappeared from her sight.

After standing frozen in place for a while, a bitter, almost hollow laugh escaped her lips.

“Ha.”

She had been discarded.

Unlike in the original story, this time, the male lead had abandoned her.

***

Enria had possessed a character in a regret-fueled novel she once found entertaining.

Specifically, she had become Enria Revenus, one of the burdens of the male lead’s past—his mistress.

The original female lead, Roseanne, had yet to marry Caldeon, but Enria had already been acting as the lady of the Grand Duke’s castle, tormenting the heroine.

Because of this, she was destined to meet a tragic end—beheaded by Roseanne’s older brother, Rahar.

In truth, Caldeon and Enria had their own circumstances.

Born as the illegitimate son of the former Grand Duke and a magically gifted mother, Caldeon inherited his mother’s power before her death and became the head of the ducal family.

He used his magic to patrol the northern lands and slay monsters, earning the title of the strongest warrior. But because he had many enemies, his magical rampages had to remain a closely guarded secret.

Enria, possessing the rare holy power capable of calming his outbursts, was also a secret that could never be exposed.

So, when Enria first realized she had possessed this body, she resolved to escape the castle before Roseanne arrived—determined to avoid her tragic fate in the original story.

However, as time passed, that determination gradually faded.

Caldeon’s charm was overwhelming—just as captivating as the original novel had described—and Enria found herself helplessly drawn to him.

Of course, his changed attitude toward her played a role as well.

It all started with a simple accident.

In the beginning, just like in the novel, they shared a bedroom but slept in separate beds. Enria would merely hold his hand to transfer her holy power, calming his magic.

Then, one day, an incident occurred—all because of a rare wine that the butler, Dale, had given Enria.

After drinking the precious royal wine, Enria found herself pressing her lips against Caldeon’s perfectly sculpted ones.

Perhaps it was because his beauty was simply too breathtaking—so mesmerizing that resisting him felt impossible.

Somewhere along the way, without even realizing it, she had started craving him.

Fueled by the wine and a desire she had long suppressed, she gave in.

Shocked by her drunken kiss, Caldeon faltered—until Enria, emboldened by alcohol, pleaded for “just one more.”

At that moment, he finally gave in completely.

Because of his obsessive cleanliness and unwavering sense of loyalty, Caldeon had allowed Enria into the Grand Duke’s castle, never letting another woman come close. But this sudden experience ignited a fire in his long-frozen desires and curiosity.

That night, what started as a sweet and innocent kiss soon deepened into something more. And before they knew it, that kiss led to their first time together.

From that moment on, everything changed.

Caldeon’s attitude toward Enria shifted completely.

He had their shared bedroom rearranged so that the two separate beds became one. After that, they spent every night together, making love.

Their relationship transformed into something that felt like a true romance.

Enria believed that Caldeon loved her.

Before her possession, Enria’s relationship with him had been purely transactional—she was there to calm his magical rampages.

But now, she thought they were lovers who shared real emotions.

She had no idea how mistaken she was.

As if mocking her delusion, Caldeon discarded her the moment it was confirmed that Roseanne, the original female lead, would become his duchess.

It felt like her entire world had crumbled.

But there was nothing she could do about it.

She had already read how the original male lead, Caldeon, would gradually fall for Roseanne after their contractual marriage—and how he would eventually become the regretful man left behind.

A fleeting affection wasn’t enough to change that fate.

In the end, there was nothing Enria could do but accept his cold words: “I will support you in any way, but you must leave the Grand Duke’s castle.”

‘The result will be the same, no matter what.’

The moment she realized she had possessed the body of a mistress doomed to be executed by the heroine’s brother, she had made up her mind.

Whether she was abandoned or left on her own, the outcome wouldn’t change now that Roseanne was arriving as the Grand Duchess.

‘Yes… So it’s fine.’

She told herself that over and over again, trying to convince herself it didn’t hurt.

Enria struggled to keep her expression composed, though she looked as if she might burst into tears at any moment. With her personal maid, Shabel, and the attendants Caldeon had assigned to her, she set off for Endelly.

***

Endelly was far quieter and more peaceful than she had expected.

Staying in the grand mansion perched atop the highest point of the village, Enria tried to mend her broken heart, focusing on getting through each day.

“The temple in the village will be holding a festival to honor the gods starting tomorrow. Would you like to attend?”

At the butler Dale’s question, Enria nodded.

Dale was one of the longest-serving and most capable butlers in the Grand Duke’s estate. Due to health concerns, he had been transferred from the main residence to a side palace.

Since he was someone Caldeon trusted deeply, it was clear that sending him away had been an act of consideration.

Enria didn’t quite understand why Caldeon had sent such a skilled person to take care of her in this remote village, but she was grateful nonetheless.

A festival honoring the gods… That sounds interesting.

Sitting by the sunlit window, Enria mulled over Dale’s words and decided she would visit the village with Shabel tomorrow, stopping by a dress shop and a jewelry store as well.

However, the following day, her health took a sudden turn for the worse.

Not only was she unable to visit the dress shop or jewelry store, but she also missed the village festival at the temple entirely.

She had already felt sluggish and unusually drowsy for the past two days, so the abrupt decline in her health didn’t come as much of a surprise.

What troubled her most was how even the mildest scents made her gag, no matter what food or remedy was brought to her.

“You might have indigestion,” Dale suggested.

Shabel watched Enria with a worried expression as she lay in bed all day, unable to get up. She brought over a tea that was supposed to help with indigestion, hoping it would ease her discomfort.

However, even the scent of the tea made Enria nauseous. She pinched her nose shut and gestured for Shabel to take it away.

Quickly, Shabel carried the tea out of the room, then returned with the same worried look on her face.

“If you don’t eat anything, it’ll be bad for you. The butler has gone to fetch a physician, but since there isn’t one in this village, he won’t arrive until tomorrow…”

“Ugh.”

Before Shabel could finish speaking, Enria gagged again, her stomach churning from the lingering scent of the tea.

Startled, Shabel rushed over and patted her back, but Enria couldn’t bring anything up.

“You haven’t eaten anything, so there’s nothing to throw up…” Shabel muttered, her expression filled with distress as she continued to rub Enria’s back.

What’s wrong with me?

This was clearly not normal.

If it’s indigestion, it must be a really bad case…

Feeling drained, Enria collapsed back onto the bed. The ceiling above her seemed to spin as she slowly closed her eyes.

Without knowing the exact cause, she had no choice but to wait until Dale returned with the physician.

There’s no way this is some terminal illness, right? No, that can’t be it. There was nothing like that in the original story.

But the thought wouldn’t leave her mind.

Everything had already deviated so much from the original plot. If the original script dictated that she would die at the hands of the heroine’s brother, but that fate had now changed, was this some cruel way for fate—or perhaps even the gods—to ensure her demise?

Lost in such absurd and baseless thoughts, Enria was utterly unprepared for what the physician said the next day after completing his examination.

“You’re pregnant.”

Her eyes widened in shock.
