You’re Supposed To Be The Villain, But You Effortlessly Win Over The Female Leads?

Chapter 16:

Chapter 16:

Jiang Jiandang’s heart sank. 20% of his salary! He thought about it bitterly. His monthly bonus alone was 6,000 yuan. 20% of that was 1,200 yuan.

Wasn’t that enough for groceries?

“This dish is pretty good,” he mumbled while eyeing the food. “We should cook more meat. Ming Lang hasn’t been eating much these days, and as teachers, we can’t always take care of the kids…”

As he reached his hand for the food, Jiang Feng swiftly smacked his hand away.

“Dad, this is the meal Mom made for me. If you’re hungry, go home and cook your own.”

Jiang Feng didn’t hold back. His expression was cold and unreadable. “Didn’t you hear what my mom said? She’s already hired a lawyer.”

“You brat, I’m talking to your mother. Why are you butting in?”

“My mom listens to me.” Jiang Feng replied flatly.

“You—!” Jiang Jiandang’s face flushed with anger. He turned to Song Lin, his irritation rising. “Look at your son! He won’t even let his father have a bite! You’ve really spoiled him! Doesn’t he know how to respect his father?”

Jiang Jiandang was stunned. He had never imagined that Song Lin would stand up to him like this. After all these years, he thought she still admired him.

But—

“You should leave. Don’t come back. My son is my priority, and he’s been with me all along. Either sign the divorce papers today, or we’ll meet in court.” Song Lin said coldly.

She pulled out the divorce agreement she had prepared and took a deep breath. “Look at the terms. If you sign now, I won’t ask for the house. You just need to repay me for the mortgage payments I’ve made over the years. I won’t ask you for any more money after that. We’ve spent many years together, after all.”

Her voice was steady, leaving no room for argument. Jiang Jiandang’s face turned pale. “What are you saying, Xiao Lin? Are you really planning to divorce me?”

He flipped through the agreement, feeling like a bucket of ice water had been dumped over him. “I don’t agree! We’ve spent all these years together, and now you want a divorce? How can we separate things like the mortgage?”

“So, you won’t agree?” Song Lin asked.

“Of course not! Don’t even think about it!” Jiang Jiandang fumed. “Didn’t you support me when I was doing charity work? We’re husband and wife. Why are you acting like we’re strangers? I’ve already agreed to your conditions—what more do you want? And that house? My family bought it when we got married! Why are you so hung up on it? The money’s been spent already—what’s the point in bringing it up now?”

Jiang Feng: “…”

Wait, what? “The money’s been spent, so what else is there to do?” Is that something a person would actually say?

“Dad, didn’t you sell a house to help people before? Why don’t you sell this one now?” Jiang Feng smirked. “Weren’t you ready to sell it to help He Minglang?”

He was betting that his father wouldn’t dare suggest selling the house for charity now.

Song Lin was trembling with anger. She took a deep breath and said, “If we can’t agree, then we’ll settle it in court.”

In the past, Song Lin had held back because she was worried about Jiang Feng. But now that he supported her decision to divorce, she had no reason to hesitate.

Without a second thought, she threw Jiang Jiandang out of the house.

“Don’t come back. We don’t need to see you again.”

She slammed the door shut, not giving him a second glance.

Jiang Jiandang: “…”

When had Song Lin become so cold? And yet, strangely enough, seeing her so firm and distant stirred something in him. His heart felt an odd spark.

Jiang Feng had thought his father would hold out for a few more days.

But to his surprise…

The very next day, when he returned home, he found Jiang Jiandang waiting at the door.

This time, Jiang Jiandang had dressed up. He wore a suit, had shaved carefully, and stood there looking polished and eager.

“Son, let’s go out for dinner tonight,” Jiang Jiandang said with a forced smile. “It’s been a long time since our family spent time together. Your mom’s been upset and talking about divorce. Help me convince her to stay.”

Convince her?

Jiang Feng didn’t even bother to acknowledge his father. He unlocked the door, walked inside, and slammed it shut behind him, leaving Jiang Jiandang standing outside.
