Chapter 14:

Chapter 14:

Jiang Jiandang had long held resentment toward Jiang Feng.

In his mind, if it weren’t for Jiang Feng stirring up trouble, Song Lin would never have considered divorcing him. This ungrateful son was always siding with others. Just a few days ago, Jiang Feng refused to give him any money for groceries. He saw his son as nothing more than a burden, someone who had only caused him grief.

Thinking about his exhausting life now, Jiang Jiandang blamed it all on Jiang Feng. “You’re spoiled by your mother! Who taught you to bully your classmates? If it wasn’t for you, your mother wouldn’t have started fighting with me! She used to be such a reasonable person!”

He raised his hand, intending to slap Jiang Feng, his face twisted in anger.

However, Jiang Feng let go of Zhang Feng’s wrist and caught his father’s hand mid-air with a sneer. “Dad, if I were you, I’d be more worried about finding a lawyer. All these years, Mom’s been paying the mortgage, and the groceries? All funded by her money. What you’ve been spending is joint marital property, and legally, that can all be reclaimed.”

Jiang Jiandang froze, shocked.

Reclaimed?

He Minglang’s face turned pale, and He Mingxue grew anxious.

Over the years, Jiang Jiandang had spent a considerable amount on their food, clothes, and daily needs. If that money had to be paid back, how could they afford it?

“This has nothing to do with us!” He Mingxue stammered, her face paling as anger flared in her voice. “Teacher Jiang gave us that money voluntarily! Why should we have to return it?”

Jiang Jiandang’s face also turned grim. “What nonsense are you spouting? I funded them willingly, and your mother knows that!”

“Does she really?” Jiang Feng asked, smiling coldly. “According to Article 299 of the Civil Code, co-owners of jointly owned properties—whether real or movable—must both agree on any transactions. Husbands and wives have equal rights, but Mom never agreed to you sponsoring anyone. You’ve been using her money against her wishes, Dad. She’s also been paying the mortgage, and even though you put down the deposit, half the house belongs to her. On top of that, the loan repayments you’ve used her money for? You’ll have to pay that back too. All in all, it amounts to at least 200,000 yuan.”

200,000 yuan?

Jiang Jiandang’s mind spun. He barely had any money in his pocket, certainly not 200,000 yuan. He had never thought about money before, living off his wife’s earnings while helping others with what little he had. Now, faced with the reality of his financial situation, he panicked.

“You… what nonsense are you talking about!” he stammered. “Your mother and I were just having a small argument. Who said we’re getting divorced? Don’t ever mention divorce in front of her again! Our relationship is perfectly fine!”

Jiang Feng chuckled coldly.

“What’s with that attitude?” Jiang Jiandang snapped. “You’re not allowed to encourage your mother to divorce me! How can you, of all people, be pushing for this? Did you hear me?!”

“That’s impossible,” Jiang Feng replied, his eyes filled with contempt. “Mom’s already made up her mind about the divorce. I’m just telling you as a courtesy, and I’ll be helping her find a lawyer too.”

“You!!” Jiang Jiandang exploded with rage, his face turning red as he tried to slap Jiang Feng. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t free his hand from his son’s grip.

Jiang Jiandang’s face flushed, unsure whether from embarrassment or anger.

“What’s wrong, Dad? Are you trying to hit me?” Jiang Feng asked calmly, releasing his father’s hand. “Unfortunately for you, I’ve grown up now.”

Jiang Feng was no longer the child he once was, longing for his father’s approval. The need for his father’s affection had long since vanished.

With that realization, Jiang Feng felt the last remnants of patience toward his father slip away. “You’re getting old, Dad. You can’t just hit me like you did when I was a kid.”

The cold indifference in Jiang Feng’s eyes was like a knife to Jiang Jiandang’s heart.

The undisguised disgust and disdain in his son’s gaze struck him hard, like a bucket of icy water.

“Does my son hate me?” The thought terrified Jiang Jiandang. How could that be possible? A son should respect and listen to his father, not hate him.

But this was the first time he had seen such an expression in Jiang Feng’s eyes, and it shook him to the core.

“You…”

Just then, the sound of the school bell interrupted the tense moment.

Jiang Feng glanced at his father with disdain. “Aren’t you going to class? How long are you planning to stand here?”

Jiang Feng’s confrontation had left a deep mark on Jiang Jiandang.

Whether it was the threat of losing 200,000 yuan or something else, it was clear the argument had gotten to him.

Not long after Jiang Feng returned home, the doorbell rang.

Song Lin, who was setting the table for dinner, wiped her hands on a towel and turned to Jiang Feng. “Son, do we have guests? Who could it be? Go see who’s at the door.”
