Chapter 32: So no Chi no Sadame

---

In the end, Pucci decided to release the official OP analysis video using a small account to avoid wasting his hard work over the past few days.

However, for the UP hosts who had already released similar analysis videos, Pucci's video didn't have much of an impact. Among the numerous early analysis videos, his official one ended up looking the most like a marketing ploy.

This shows that in the field of brainstorming, the most important thing is to be daring in both action and thought. Having the standard answer can actually restrict one's creativity.

Moreover, Pucci was not just competing with a group of imaginative UP hosts but also with a group of viewers who, after watching the second episode and OP of Phantom Blood and then the analysis videos from these UP hosts, still weren't satisfied. These viewers flocked to 2CH and related forums to brainstorm together.

Despite Pucci anticipating such a situation, the impact of the Phantom Blood OP was far more rapid and extensive than he had imagined. Once the UP hosts started to participate for traffic, the unprecedented OP "ジョジョ~その血の運命~" began to revolutionize all viewers' concepts of an OP.

[A/N: "ジョジョ~その血の運命~" means So no chi no sadame, the OP of JoJo Phantom Blood.]

Before this, they never imagined an OP could be made like this.

Especially when they started to look for the hidden Easter eggs in the OP, they realized that the appearance of six JoJos in the OP was just a prelude.

"The lyrics 'Two stars falling in the sky' accompanied by DIO's action of stepping off the carriage upon first arriving at the Joestar household... It's a clear indication."

"One star represents Jonathan Joestar, and the other represents DIO (DIO means God in Italian)."

"And many scenes in the first and second episodes match those in the OP. Isn't the OP's lyrics and images foreshadowing the plot?"

Consolidating an entire story into a song and an OP, who could have imagined this before?

Which work had done this before "ジョジョ~その血の運命~" came out?

No wonder all viewers who watched the second episode of Phantom Blood were thrilled when they learned from the UP hosts' videos that the OP had such a function.

The God of Fortune is Here: "Wait a minute! Does this mean that DIO puts on the Stone Mask himself and becomes a vampire in the end?"

"And DIO, that bastard, really ends up killing Sir Joestar! What a jerk!!"

Whenever someone posted a related topic on 2CH, others quickly followed.

Shiroyasha: "Isn't it obvious?"

"From the OP's images, it's clear that JOJO found evidence of DIO poisoning Sir Joestar and brought the police to confront him."

"To avoid being caught by the police, DIO had no choice but to put on the Stone Mask and become a vampire, right?"

The image of the police shooting at DIO with the Stone Mask on, and JOJO holding the fallen George Joestar in his arms reflected in falling glass shards, although brief in the OP, would have gone unnoticed without the viewers' frame-by-frame scrutiny after knowing there were hidden Easter eggs.

They soon unearthed these details.

Klaus: "Though the lyrics later actually spoil the ending—'Guiding those on the path of honor with the sun.'"

"The image in the OP of JOJO, dressed in warrior attire, confronting DIO on the stairs indicates that JOJO found a way to counter the vampire and sought revenge on DIO."

Hideyoshi, The Best Under Heaven: "Uh, is this how everyone watches the OP? Or is this the right way to understand the Phantom Blood OP?"

"Or am I the only one who just thinks the OP sounds great?"

"So no chi no sa da me (Destiny carved in the blood)!"

KO NO DIO: "JO↑————JO↓————!!"

Not wearing it is truly cool: "JO↑————JO↓————!!" +1

Ashirogi Muto: "JO↑————JO↓————!!" +1

"..."

The Arrogant Degenerate Regretful of Destruction Scolding Great Hermit: "Although it's not good to interrupt everyone's repetition, isn't analyzing here pointless?"

Where did this troll come from?!

Seeing the orderly formation disrupted by an out-of-place reply, the users almost concluded it was a troll hired by Phantom Blood's competitors.

However, just as they were about to show this troll what the Golden Spirit was, the troll continued their reply.

"Think about it. The more exciting Phantom Blood's story is, the better the OP music is, and the more varied the hidden Easter eggs are, the more it makes us eagerly want to see the new episode of Phantom Blood, right?"

"Can you feel that?"

Of course, they could!

Why else would they be on 2CH?!

They flocked to the forums because they couldn't wait for the new episode of Phantom Blood and were trying to "watch" the new, unreleased episode by analyzing the OP with everyone else!

"Despair! I despair at the fact that there's still a week until the next episode of Phantom Blood!"

The intense discussion momentarily quieted.

Then...

The Dream is to be a Househusband: "But if we didn't even have the chance to analyze, wouldn't that be more desperate?"

"At least now, we can 'watch' the latest episode of Phantom Blood through the OP, isn't that good..."

This comment ended the previous discussion, and 2CH resumed its lively atmosphere.

Waiting for the new episode of Phantom Blood was already unbearable for them. If they didn't have the OP analysis to look forward to, lacking a way to supplement the unknown plot like they do with manga or novel adaptations, that would be true despair!

In short, the number of people urging the release of the next episode of Phantom Blood increased.

And...

"Let this despairing world be destroyed quickly!"

Seeing the failure of the OP plan, Jolyne Cujoh murmured blankly.

Kurato's Notes:

Just in case you're confused.

"God of Fortune Here" refers to Yato from Noragami.

"Shiroyasha" refers to Gintoki from Gintama.

"Hideyoshi, The Best Under Heaven" is probably Hideyoshi Kinoshita from Baka to Test. I'm not entirely sure, but it seems likely.

"Not wearing it is truly cool" refers to Masamune from Masamune-kun's Revenge. Apparently, this is a nickname made by Chinese netizens for him. I found out searching about it in Baidu. Man, seriously!

"Ashirogi Muto" is the pen name used by the main characters of Bakuman.

"The Dream is to a Househusband" is obviously Hikigaya Hachiman.

As for the rest, I couldn't find who they are. Man, I tried a lot, but these Chinese nicknames are just too hard to find.

"Klaus" is just too generic for me to pinpoint to one character. And this one "The Arrogant Degenerate Regretful of Destruction Scolding Great Hermit", what does that even mean?

But again, in forum channels, this kind of bullshit happens, so can't be angry about it. And translating that bullshit from Chinese to English... Sigh! Translating isn't as easy it seems.
